Byzantium essentially gave the Crusaders a contract of a 150,000 silver marks to help them against the Seljuks!
After planning was made the Crusader commander who was from Venice asked for the payment in order for assisstance.
Alexios refused to pay unless they were making considerable progress in the Holy Lands.
Venice wasn't happy since they organized the whole crusade only to get paid when blood was shed.
Boniface (Venetian Commander) said "Fine but were taking your city since you haven't paid what you owed".
Byzantium has 15,000 troops in their city when the crusaders siege the city with more than 40,000 and a fleet.
Boniface has meetings with the Seljuks and they insist on him sacking Constantinople while they are occupied.
I see
It's all rather fitting isn't it?
The Byzantine Empire = FA/Tso's
Seljuks = AE/Renegade
Crusaders = NF
with 1 slight difference.... NF were never 'offered' anything. no contract, no nothing, aside from mutual feelings toward a target.
on top of that these 'mutual' feelings got even more strained when our so-called 'friends' try to implement a business model of their own directly undercutting that of our own. look at it from the othdr side of the fence before commenting.
after a very long time, i convinced myself to work with zatara and fa to accomplish a common goal. and at every turn we encountered resistance. arguing over fees, not coordinating (i tip my hat to both ken and himiko. we did some great work together, but the other variables are what made it all a taxing challenge daily), then directly lowballing our own district selling (did you guys ever sell a single district?)
bottom line NF are mercs. our loyalty is paid for by whomever, typically 20 minutes at a time, but in some cases longer terms apply.
and tso never paid for anything. not saying they should have, just making sure everyone is clear on that tidbit of info ;)

This entire war boils down to a clash of cultures. NF are businessmen, and they treat their corp and their operation like a business. Agreements are made, ISK is exchanged. Business. EVE and Dust are separate games, separate entities.
General Tso's Alliance (3XXXD) is more like a family. A big, boisterous family who work together, play together, and troll together. We don't separate our EVE and Dust players, we're all thrown in the mix together. Sometimes we all get along, sometimes we don't, but when one of our own is under attack, we stick together and damn the consequences. We're here to have fun.
With this in view, it is surprising things lasted as long as they did. The diplos all probably wanted to rip their hair out. Both sides expected the other to change their nature for the agreement, and that obviously wasn't going to happen.
It was probably a mistake to work together at all, but what's done is done, and now we all get to cleanup the mess.
Good fights in space, and good fights on the ground, with a ton of politics sandwiched in between.
Isn't that why we're all here?
pretty much sums it all up right there from what I've seen at least.
nothing wrong with either stance, but agreed a clash of mentalities. I can understand quite well both sides

How about we look at a quote from you yourself?
after a very long time, i convinced myself to work with zatara and fa to accomplish a common goal. and at every turn we encountered resistance. arguing over fees(3 mill per no matter what...never pushed for tank losses or ads..paid it myself), not coordinating (example?...unless you mean NF screwing up times of battles)(i tip my hat to both ken and himiko. we did some great work together, but the other variables are what made it all a taxing challenge daily), then directly lowballing our own district selling
Zatara once again you speak out of turn...
'Arguing over fees' had nothing to do with dustside stuff. you and I had a discussion, and we resolved that and we all moved on, both sides satisfied on the outcome of our merc pricing for each other.
'not coordinating' was once again an issue between EvE and Dust. As ive said many times im not pointing any fingers because im well aware of the issues on the part of NF in this poor coordination at times.
the coordination between FA and NF on the attacking was great, hence the tip of the cap to ken and himiko
so please, sit back and for once realize the big picture rather than the bubble you choose to reside. for once im trying to be positive in regard to yourself and FA, and you continue to make even complimenting you quite a difficulty..
