So tonight I ran a build that can passive San at 27db at 75 or so m.
The game didnt like that. The tacnet became very unreliable as it picked up everything on the map. It seemed to prioritize equipment over enemy units. Barely anyone was showing up on radar near the objective, but they were all there. Is there some sort of limit of the amount of elements displayed on your radar? This was in the labs Dom so the equipment spam was massive.
I actually had to switch back to my less powerful passive scan to start getting people on it again. If this is a real indicator then caldari scouts are gunna be screwed. |

Probably just way too much equipment spam. It scans people the same as equipment but equipment is brought to the front. So it just hangs on the Tac Net and people are able to sneak around under it.
It's actually a very viable way to beat scanners, passive or active, just dump lots of equipment. It's too hard to discern the person from the equipment so it's cover in a sense. |

Yeah but folks weren't even showing the chevron where they would be. Only way they showed either was if I saw them in my fov |

You might want to make a thread about this in Feedback just so CCP becomes aware about it.

Oh, I thought you only meant on the radar.
Possibly lag? Those equipment dumps can cause huge spikes and that could slow down the speed it brings up the chevron.
They could have been dampened as well, hard to believe everyone is that dampened but who knows. |

If equipment (either friendly or enemy) is too dense, the it's pretty hard to distinguish the red arrows from everything else. Use your on-screen chevrons instead.
I've found that 45m is more than adequate for most city maps.
Don't bother using two complex precision enhancers in 1.7. Here is why.
Your scan fidelity with two is 26.76db, which rounds to 27dB. Medium frames running two complex damps would have 26.41dB, which rounds to 26dB and therefore would avoid your scans. If you are trying to detect scouts, you would be able to detect a proto scout with the minimum required to dodge the regular 28dB scanners (proto scout skill, damp 3, and one basic/militia dampener) but this is a pretty fringe case, and if they had dampening to 4 or 5, you can't detect them, nor could you if they used a higher level dampener.
I either run no precision enhancers (40.5dB), one advanced (detects single complex dampened mediums but not undampened scouts with full proto skill and at least dampening 1) or one complex (detects fringe scouts with proto scout but dampening to 3 or less and no added dampeners).
By using two complex precision enhancers, the only "extra" people you can detect vs. one advanced are other scouts with no dampeners on, proto scout skill, and dampening to 4-5. That's a pretty small margin (even though I am one such case). And if I suspect that a fellow scout might be passively scanning me, darn right I'm gonna slap on my dampener ;) |

Well my thought was you would see air of proto scouts with level 5 damp who sit at 27. This may be a fringe case but I would think it would be common since its pretty much the optimal build for a scout as it gets you under evening but focused and this passive.
Either way ill play with it some more to see if the chevron issue Was in my head or not |

What's your fitting? Maybe you can get Moody or Jolly Roger to get some fottage of this.
I could also try, but I don't have a lot of skills into scouts/precision.

Adv gallante scout with two complex percision and 2 complex range. I won't have a chance to play until later and ill give it a shot again then. I have a feeling it my only be an issu on hat map for Dom since it features the most equipment spam. Cause I know I've used the build in other situations with no issues. Ill update when I get chance to retry and confirm. I doubt ill be able to do any vid capture w cept maybe from my phone |

The tacnet seems to be very susceptible to lag. I've seen 5 second lags between scanning and having enemies show up on the minimap.
Have also received the +15 WP bonus from squadmates killing enemies that had not lit up on my scanner yet.
And then there's fast-moving tanks....
Be good to get some Dev input on this.
I support SP rollover.
