If it were up to me, Active Scanners wouldn't be nerfed. They'd be removed.
I honestly don't understand why an item that allows you to see practically everyone's location 24/7 while also knowing what direction they're facing ever passed QA.
I'm also not sure why something that easily negate the need for situational awareness needs to be in this game. Isn't one of the main pros about this game supposed to be the emphasis on flanking and tactics?

It's more insulting when I walk up behind an enemy sniper, fully charge my forge gun, then shoot them from a few meters away. Did that today, then started rubberbanding shortly afterwards.

You will still see him before he sees you
You're much faster than him you can run away or flank him.
Will you complain a heavy killed you because that same logi used a scanner to light you up? |

That's why they nerfed them. Now they will be much more situational, such as storming an entrenched objective or lighting up a tank for AV/OB. Unless of course you run several on a suit. There is no helping that person. |

Not quite. I'm scanning from 200m away, so you'd have to either be carrying one yourself, or be a sniper.

Most times I hear them, and you think given how big they are they would show up. Nope.
Once, I was literally stealth road killed by an HAV out in the open. No sound, and it didn't even show up on tacnet until it was past my broken little body.
They need to add tacnet to the long list of things needing fixed.

Active Scans are provided to the scanners squad. In no situation are active scans provided to the entire team. You are bad. Accept it. Plus there is only one scanner that will scan 200m out, and it has **** for track time. |

Scanners only share with a squad, not the team.

Caldari focus on gathering intelligence via passives and use equipment to make up for stealth.
Gallente focuses on stealth passively and rely on equipment to make up for gathering intelligence.
Scanners are in a lot of games, but the active ones tend to be limited to a certain area unable to change it's perimeter. With 1.8, scanners will (hopefully) work as intended with the snap-scans to take consideration to the range, angle, and precision rendering the 360 ones useless.

It's kind of insulting that, the only suit that can take advantage of dampener is a scout suit; yet a medium frame Gallente suit cannot although it is Gallente tech.

200m is still 200m.
The CreoDron Flux Active Scanner has an 8s visibility duration, and a 1s scan duration. If you can't utilize 9s in a FPS game, you might be the one who's bad here.

Didn't catch that memo, did you? That ideal and scope for this game was given up long ago when they realized that they couldn't get anyone to play it. They thought it was the skill gap, when in fact it was the glitches, bugs, and poor programming. So they covered that poor programming up with EZ-Mode junk.

Post 1.8 there is no chance for a damped Med frame LMFAO Post 1.8 scanners are going to be majorly nerfed. Longer delays and no more 360 spin. So I wouldn't worry about active scanners in 1.8 it's the scouts that will get you
I love med suits whining about thier precious two low slots for dampening. Oh no, my ehp! The mind that considers active scanners cheap but having 2-3x the health of the enemy legit is just delusional. Scanners are great because since their introduction dust actually has some varied valid builds as opposed to just stacking hp and damage.
Of course these same players found the old tacnet sharing of radar with the entire team to be legit so clearly it's not the crutches radar that bothers them. It's just sacrificing some ehp to counter it. There's not much a scanner can see that wouldn't have been on radar when team shared vision was in. |
