Is it worth it on a Cal logi and Cal assault in 1.8? If using no modules - do you actually pick any players up on the tac net?
If people have scanned into dampeners does the passive benefit negate the precision effect?
And
if using precision modules - do they pick up suits with dampeners on? If so what type of suits would they pick up?
I havent skilled into either of these skills and trying to understand them before deciding if I should dump this events SP into them
thanks in advance

Don't bother for medium frames. If you plan on going into scout, then do it. Otherwise it's not worth it, even with the new scan precision/radius numbers for the Logi.
Basically if you were to make a good passive scan suit out of the logi, you'd gimp yourself really bad (particularly since you'd need a proto suit to fit all the modules you'd need).
If you're talking about just the passive advantage (i.e. don't plan on using modules), I still don't think it's worth the SP to get them to proto - you might want to get precision to Lvl 1 and range to Lvl 4. But this level of passive scanning would only be of practical use to detect mediums/heavies sneaking up on you while hacking, etc. It's not combat worthy. |

Many thanks Sanya - appreciate you putting numbers into game application - so much easier for me to understand. And you have saved me 1m SP!!
Whats your thoughts on a medium based frame (assault/ logi) using a profile dampener with the changes to suit profiles and scanners in 1.8?

If you haven't spent SP on dampening yet, then wait till after 1.8. I really can't imagine scanners being as widely used after the patch as they are now. But with Cal Scout scan precision and Gal Logi precision buffs, mediums may find themselves in the position of not being able to dampen low enough no matter how many they stack. My general advice is if you are looking to flank, you should be able to do it in 1.8 even without dampeners, since the chance of getting actively scanned will be much lower than it is now. Just stay out of sight as you flank and you most likely won't get scanned. This does mean you will have to suck it up and get scanned if you remain with the team. |

One other thing - vehicle scanners may become more common as a replacement to 360* squad scans. So it may be in your interest to equip a dampener to avoid those. I'm not sure what their precision is though. |
