Im a lil pissed now. Im an assaulter, I dont have a heavy suit, a logi suit, a scout suit, commando etc. IM AN ASSAULTER. Im reading these new stats for suits and im asking myself........why would i be an assaulter in 1.8??????? Seems like a commando or logi suit would still be better for the role if you choose the right race for your style of play. If I had an extra grenade slot or that RoF increase that was said it might make the suit useful but as for now, what is a cpu/pg reduction to light/sidearm gonna do and for me, caldari, a reload speed????? i reload fast enough thanks, matter of fact, i have all the time in the world after the dude I just shot is dead.......Im looking for someone LOGIBRO or SABERWING, whats the purpose of an assualter????? cannon fodder???? we dont have cloaks so we get seen by all scanners, only 1 equipment slot that most assualters dont use wisely,1 light weapon, 1 sidearm, 1 grenade, even proto doesnt get a decent hi/lo slot count as compared to other suits with less slots but higher base or more slots with less or equal base. In 1.8 what is the purpose of a assault suit? |

I really want to try the gallente assault bonus with the Ion Pistol. I think it is going to be cool.

skill your dampening up. you don't have to have a cloak to avoid scanners. 1 complex dampener will get your medium frame under ADV scanners, and i'm sure 3 will get you below a proto scanner. and you say you're caldari, so you shouldn't be armor tanking anyway.
don't get upset or start raging before 1.8 is released. just wait and see how it worrks out. you just might like it.

Yeah, the Minmatar bonus isn't all that great either considering that it only works for one of the Minmatar weapons!

Not raging just not trying to see my role go to the wayside. that being said ill still be an assulter in 1.8 but im aware of what im going up against. MY dampening will be on very soon but that still wont hide me from a scanner and the way i play with the equipment in my suits i dont have room for a dampener. i already need a cpu upgrade to run the lvl of equipment i need. My problem not yours. thats just a small part of my "already" issues with my role. I can care less about being scanned but it doesnt help....my main point is, What is our purpose |

Lol im gal assault. I specd into gal proto logi and dont even use it. After the respec im going to spec proto assault.
I personally believe the gallente assault is the best assault suit in game.
Think of assaults, especially gallente as tanked scouts and stealth. With the coming scanner nerf you will hate being a logi, sentinel or commando more than you know.
Those big suits will show up everytime on adv scanners. So will tanked logis. Right now I can run adv gal assault and be invisible to all but duvolle focus scanner. After update im totally invisible and and stronger with increase ttk.
Assault is the most underrated suit ingame.
Im not from new eden. I dont need back up, political power or support. I, unlike you dont fear nuetral territory.

Only if every body smart didn't exploit the fact that Commandos and Heavies will be far and away superior at the role we generally thought to be doing (i.e. 1v1 and small group combat) whilst still maintaining other superior things like awesome AV in the FG, and being able to pack a Swarm with that AR.
And still lolLogi's with STILL superior potential HP pools, with more equipment slots, and more fitting.
Assaults are getting more UP as we go on (kinda a good thing, kinda bad...), with bigger and badder people rocking bigger and badder guns, with no real gameplay mindset change necessary to fit the suit.

*sighs* once again, the CPU/PG bonus means that if you spend that when you are level 5 in your suit you will fit your weapons at 75% CPU/PG cost. Combined with maxed out optimization and light & sidearm operation you are spending half. This means you can equip a proto weapon at the cost of an advanced or a LP store specialist weapon at the cost of standard. That frees up SP that can be used to run better tank, damage mods, equipment, whatever.
If that doesn't do it for you, go commando or sentinel or slayer logi they are respeccing dropsuit tree

I'm still on the fence about it, but i'll most likely be abbandoning the assault suit come 1.8 (DS command refund or not). I currently run a Min Assault, and with the dmg mod nerf (which I support) there is nothing to put in my highs. Please, don't mention anything about shields. I've had a resperatory infection for 10 days now, and laughing makes my chest hurt.
Anyway, I keep hearing the Amarr logi is the end all be all, though I will feel like a piece of **** for using it. I refuse to spec into the I win button, there is enough heavies on the field already.
Bad enough i'm being forced into the CR or RR. Thanks for defining weapon roles with shields being broke CCP. Just a brilliant move on your part.
Anyway, got tons of work to do, none of it on assaults unfortunately. Maybe some day soon "choices" will be an actual thing in Dust, as opposed to a joke/hook.

Its 1 slot, logi gets 1 total more slot has less base EHP and speed and loses the sidearm to compensate on 3 out of 4 of them. If you don't think a sidearm is going to be a big advantage in 1.8 then I just can't help you and I suggest you go slayer logi

Heavies and commandos take an age to move from point to point and are quite easy to hammer when caught in open areas. Assault us the jack-of-all-trades master-of-none grunt type so to compare to specialist suits like commando and heavy is unrealistic. Reduction in weapon pg/cpu means you can fit higher tier weapon on lower tier suits or will free up more fitting options for modules or equipment.
It SHOULD allow for a more flexible fit at all tier. |

Cannon fodder probably, rush in, remove a 1/4 ~ 1/2 of the heavy's/Commando's/Slayer logi's HP, and die so the rest can move in and finish the job.
We shall be kill assist masters.

Gal Assault has had the weapon reduction thing since I've been playing (to hybrid weapons), it helps, but it's certainly not a grand thing now, since we get the same PG/CPU in the suit for an indefinite period of time - maybe til 1.9, a minuscule reduction to our side arm fitting requirement is near worthless.

AR has a relatively low fitting requirement so it helps less with that weapon just like it helps less fitting a CR but now you get the bonus for all weapons and it will mean more if you want to fit a RR or ScR. I know I'm going to get about 6 PG more on my proto min assault with this bonus which helps me out quite a bit

Yes I agree it's better and more robust than before since it applies to all weapons, but assaults seem lackluster in comparison with the rest of the suits and it pains me
As it looks for the coming patch, Heavies will be no match in CQC or for tanking and point defense, Commando's will be undisputed at dealing damage and killing things, Scouts will be awesome going in cloaked and doing quick attacks at the flanks, and logis... oh logis... they are the true jacks of all trades, deck them up to hack, set them up to repair setting hives and healing or bring them in tanked and killing things better than us.
Assaults... ? well. it still looks like we will be Assist Masters.

One more low slot, which could be used for 110 HP.
Base lose, 30 HP.
Every HP will count more then it does already (which is a ton, regardless what you believe), plus the fact that when Slayer setup, you have more fitting to fit better mods, which give you, EVEN MORE HEALTH!

Side arm offers the opportunity for more immediate flexibility with damage types. This is what I plan to do for my Amarr assault combine ScR with mag sec and be more effective against armor and Shields at the same time. I would love to see assault get a second grenade slot to increase that versatility. Plus that that would make it more like your usual FPS soldier

Granted, it seems like a side arm will offer more than it did before, give the reduction on TTK and proficiency not making damage scale evenly. but in 1.7 it wasn't a big deal.
Still a sidearm does not give an Assault a specific role or reason to be, since only Logis lack it.

dont get it twisted, i understand that. It means i can get rid of my cpu upgrade (hopefully) but the only thing i cant fit right now with the passive cpu/ pg (everything on 5 except the fitting op for my weapons) is proto grenades and equipment. Like i said, im an assaulter, i will always be an assaulter, i love my role and my suit, but it feels like its falling short because we didnt get the right kind of buff. But i ll see how 1.8 treats us and skill into a second suit if thats gonna be the case. Cuz I AM AN ASSAULTER.
S/N: They need to change the way the scanner works. It is used for electronic warfare developed by the Gallente. It should read shields not armor because the Gallente are the sworn enemy of the Caldari, their weaponry and equipment are build to kill Caldari just like Caldari are build around killing Gallente. The active scanner and profile dampener are/should be based on (electronic) shields. Just like fulx grenades (Gallente tech) takes out shields |
