Ppl QQ so hard that CCP doesn't interact with its players
When in reality, its just not true, you're just not looking in the right places
I'd even go so far as to say that there is more interaction here than a lot of other online games.
Hop in the Dev Hangout channel, go on irc, follow twitter, theres a whole lot more out there than people think, they just get mad that the front page of GD isin't blanketed in blue all the time. Big deal most online games a post by a dev is a very rare sighting. |

Which is what they should be doing considering that many of their playerbase can barely spell, let alone understand why game design decisions are made.

This game has at least many thousands of players. Hundreds use the forum.
Most of these players have vastly different opinions from you, and contrary to your belief, there are few matters which the entire community can get a consensus on.
CCP has only so many community devs. The ratio of players to community devs is ... extreme. This is true of any game. You can't reasonably expect -any- human to be able to respond to what is essentially a giant cloud of chaos and screaming and demands and then be able to address them all on a personal level. This is what the CPM is for, their job is to convey community opinions to them in a way that can actually produce a manageable conversation and not some cacophony of dissenting and contrary opinions. |

Even Robert Space Industries... And they are completely community funded.
Between IRC, Skype, Forums, Fanfest, Community meetings and pubs... There are more advatnages afforded to the players on influencing decisions then any game developer out there.
This is fact.
CCP has faults but this isn't one of them.
Not having a Mission statement from the CCP Executive Producer after this long is getting people antsy....
Hopefully we won't have to wait for fanfest before he addresses the community with the direction The team wants to take DUST 514 into the future. |

I already found more accesable and thats Adhesive/Meteor. CCP with their lies and hiding behind words can go somewhere. BTW i want to start open discussion with some head on CCP about their progress and their desicions. No some hiding behind IRC or forum. Just give me mail or tel. number. At one point in time I considered the devlopers side of all these things. How they might think and react to all the problems and all the cries. Then I considered the fact that they've been dealing with EVE online for ten years. They've probobly heard it all by now and the stupid questions we ask rhetorically just aren't worth responding to once again. Just my guess though

Karl Marx II wrote:They are changing weapon proficiencys and equipment as well as weapon damage along with weapon ranges in 1.7 .. no SP Refund ... Because the weapons are being rebalanced. There's a difference between a balance pass and a complete overhaul.
A balance pass is what happens when stats are tweaked, sometimes a little, sometimes a little more, in an attempt to change what's already there to make them more balanced and promote diversity of fittings and tactics. This happens in every patch in Eve and Dust, sometimes with overall good feedback and sometimes with harsh criticism. Today, Eve Rubicon 1.3 dropped, putting a hard cap on drone assist and smashing some very widely used fleet doctrines right in the balls with the nerfbat. There's a fair amount of opposition to this change, but we'll just have to see how it goes. In the meantime, I dare you to head on over to the Eve forums and demand a refund of Drones and/or Spaceship Command skillpoints in light of this nerf, and watch how quickly you get laughed down.
A full rework is what happened with vehicles, and what's happening now with suits. Vehicles were added, removed, and changed completely, and now the number of dropsuits available is almost doubling (to what many believe should have been there right from the start) as well as a major iteration on dropsuit bonuses. In light of such major changes, CCP opted to provide a partial SP refund to those skill trees. While I have my reservations about this, I understand and accept their justification.
Things get buffed, things get nerfed. Such is the way of games like Dust, and you can't expect any form of respec just because your favorite gun is having its damage or range reduced. They added a few new weapons in conjunction with the balance changes, but that effect is pretty small compared to the dropsuit roster expansion. New ships were released in Rubicon 1.0 in addition to balance changes, nobody complained because it was just 2 ships among many, much like the new weapons are 3 among a fair number, as opposed to at least a 50% increase in the number of suits.
Maybe, maybe we'll get another vehicle respec when all the racial LAVs/tanks/dropships come out, but after that, don't count on it. Other classes like speeders or fighters will almost certainly be released with all races at once, at which point it's creating new areas, not filling in existing holes, and we'll all have equal opportunity to spend any future SP on any of them.
TL;DR - Suit changes are major and the respec is justified. Weapon changes are relatively small in comparison and not enough to warrant one.

Rebalances don't get respecs. Never have.
Role changes on the other hand, the kind the dropsuits got & weapons didn't, do warrant respecs.

CCP needs to start cleaning up the messes they keep making or at the very least take responsibility. Unfortunately Uprising 1.8 is not looking like it will achieve either of those goals.

Its changing what the skill does
How can changing what a skill does not warrant an SP refund ??
How can tying in equipment to racial logi suits not warrant an sp refund of equipment ??
PS changing weapon range and damage changes a weapons role .. obviously its primary role is to kill but changing how it does that based on range and damage directly affects how it fulfills that role thus weaponry should be refunded as well
Windows of opportunity = vehicle refund
Why does increasing TTK and changing suit roles not merit an infantry SP refund ??

Range and damage changes as well as the addition of racial parity for rifles
hmm minor rebalance ? Imagine if sniper rifles had their ranged changed to 10m to become cqc weapons and had their damage reduced by 50% ... Range and damage changes = change of a weapons role = SP Refund

They changed the dropsuits. Your dropsuit SP is being refunded. End of story. They are changing weapon proficiencys and equipment as well as weapon damage along with weapon ranges in 1.7 .. no SP Refund ... It's half arsed and hasn't been thought through .. Just like your reply Rebalances don't get respecs. Never have. Role changes on the other hand, the kind the dropsuits got & weapons didn't, do warrant respecs. The proficiency might warrant a reduction to its skill multiplier, and that's about it. Its changing what the skill does How can changing what a skill does not warrant an SP refund ?? How can tying in equipment to racial logi suits not warrant an sp refund of equipment ?? PS changing weapon range and damage changes a weapons role .. obviously its primary role is to kill but changing how it does that based on range and damage directly affects how it fulfills that role thus weaponry should be refunded as well Windows of opportunity = vehicle refund Why does increasing TTK and changing suit roles not merit an infantry SP refund ??
The proficiency skill in 1.7 increases damage output. Guess what it does in 1.8? No respec.
The only weapon I'm aware of receiving a range alteration is the laser rifle. It was originally a long range engagement weapon. The change has returned it to that role. So nothing warranting a respec there.
Logis are equipment specialists. They're supposed to be tailored to equipment. The equipment you've skilled represents a role you have chosen. Weighing what you can do with the slot layout of a logi vs which equipmemt piece you want to optimise is exactly the kind of meaningful choice the game was always intended to have. No respec. The reason tying equipment to suits doesn't warrant an equipment refund is because you're getting a suit refund. Retaining your choice is achieved with one or the other, no need for both.
Reducing the damage of OP weapons is not changing its role. Neither is "being the only rifle anyone wants to use" a role. No. Respec.
No.

snip The Optional Respect was the result from the Dropsuit Command still tree changes due to rebalances.
No, the optional respec was because various skills had been mislabled, and others did not function properly.
No.

Their job is to make the game, not hang out here going back and forth with us. Having played FPS games for almost two decades now, I have not found a more accessible dev community. I already found more accesable and thats Adhesive/Meteor. CCP with their lies and hiding behind words can go somewhere. BTW i want to start open discussion with some head on CCP about their progress and their desicions. No some hiding behind IRC or forum. Just give me mail or tel. number. What they did today is outrageous and filth, basicly its spit to community face.
And you wonder why nobody wants to talk to you?
If you are, gasp, respectful, and, gasp, not demeaning -- you know, like by not using words that might get you punched in the mouth (i.e. "lies", "hiding", "filth", "spit to community face") -- you might have some of your concerns addressed.
And if you were mature enough to figure that out, we'd likely not be discussing it and you'd have had your questions answered.
Good luck with that and this -- my last response to you. I hope you are as helpful to the Adhesive/Meteor community as you were to this one. Take care...Leadfoot

(Or just jump on IRC. Tweet me. Find me in game, or speak to me on the forums. :)
Edit: And yes, there will be a "mission statement" by CCP Rouge. We're fleshing out these details but as I've alluded to in the past, this will come and you will be hearing from him (and more regularly) soon.
I have a request:
Can we rename "CCP Rouge" to "CCP DUST Jesus"?
(Also, why is he "CCP Rouge" and not "CCP Rogue"? Does he wear makeup?)

You can't possibly be serious, can you?
I mean, I agree that it's not their job to "hang out" with players, but compared to most games I've been a fan of the devs for this one are surprisingly silent. |
