Where did it all go so wrong?!
Gameplay may have sucked harder than it does now, but everything about the game looked better, we also had a gamemode in which the Attacker was actually attacking, and the Defender was actually defending.

Oh boyo i really miss that times Everything seemed new and ground breaking, now its just MeeEEEeeeH. Everything is downgraded, not bright colors, just crapy flat palete. And what is funny all that in Unreal Engine, just sad story about optimalization.

Dat screen tearing. That actual variety in terrain design. That seemingly sane terrain interaction. That ****** gunplay.
The graphics are definitely much better and much more detailled, but also far less polished. That RDV looks pretty goofy, compared to the awesome effects that we currently have for aircraft.
The map seems huge, but that might be due to how the player is approaching it. I hope that later versions will bring some of the positive aspects back. |

Vote for me in CSM1 if you want it back. We need the bobbing HUD it is the most important missing feature. The shifting redlines, matches with a single MCC for more balanced PC gameplay and variety. This is not a pipe dream I played this game I want CCP to bring back on my PS3. They need to bring the game back on track the core is done...
I mean I don't hate CCP they need to have all the racial suits before anyone takes them seriously. Don't you remember the marketing? AAA shooter? That was with the bobbing HUD... The hype for vita app being days away? We need people like me grounding CCP to their original view. |

Is it too much to ask for great gameplay and great graphics? Do we really have to choose between the two? You will ALWAYS have to choose between the two when it comes to online games.
Frankly any game that can produce better gameplay than graphics will eventually update their graphics later on the road, but games that focus on creating highly detailed graphics almost never improve their gameplay down the road.

Dust 514 will be an objectively good game when it's developed so far that LAV combat is actually viable and dynamic, instead of that stop and go and gunner death thing that is currently going on.
@Graphics: Graphics and gameplay do not clash. What clashes is graphic fidelity and gameplay. A good art direction can offset graphics that are bad on a technical level. Also, graphics can directly impact the gameplay. 60FPS, 1080p, higher FOV and an art direction that allows easy visibility of targets (Which is already the case) are all things that make the game more fun to play and allow the gameplay to be better. |

What things are better now? Frame rates? Lag? Balance? Matchmaking? Game speed with that running! Structures?
Only thing i can see somewhat better is CCP introduced better Graphics lighting and texture packs... Which drastically hurt game performance. And added a couple guns and suits to the game. While removing more modules and vehicles then they added by double.
So what has gotten better? i'm confused.?
Oh that 78k SP was because it was beta... CCP handed out alot of SP so we could get to end game quicker and test the complete game... Also a Huge reason why New Player Experience got such little attention.

Your bad's are alot of peoples pluses...
AR sound was awesome.
Hacking should be an active longer process... Like GTA 5... not run up and hold your button..... Thats what everyone asked for in beta... we got a quicker run up and press your button and only in one spot!
Shinny dropsuits got traded for shinny ground and wall textures... Which make picking out a dropsuit amoungst reflective dirt?!... a pain in the ass..

NOPE they just dont know how to properly optimize engine waht they chosed, nothing else They completely broke the graphics in Mirror's Edge. Look at the PC version for what it's supposed to look like. All AC games have horrible PS3 ports with extreme screen tearing and freezes. InFamous is far less busy in terms of what it requires of the hardware. Especially the collision model/environmental interaction is a joke. Dunno about TLoU, but Uncharted was done by programming wizards. Those same people did Crash Bandicoot and wrote a blog about the kind of hacks they used to make 3D run on the PS1. They are geniuses in that regard. CCP does not have that kind of skilled console developers. |

AC? Every game I know that uses the abbreviation (Armored Core, Ace Combat, Assassin's Creed, Animal Crossing) runs on a proprietary engine, not UE3. If you're talking multiplayer and that limits it to Ace Combat or Assassin's Creed, the netcode in both is horrendous.
Try Transformers: War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron. They have smaller battles and maps than DUST, but they have more mobile characters, higher speeds, smoother animations, better graphics, wider FOV and less lag even though they're not running on servers. |

I didn't play in closed beta so I won't pretend to know anything from first hand experience.
Head bob is interesting but it gives me a head ache watching it. Mini-Map is hard to say. Having it is nice but not having it means someone has to pay more attention to the game. I go either or on that one. Muzzle flash is weird. I think it is less messy without it. The installations are hit or miss. Null Cannon looked more like a cannon rather than some weird pillar-box thing. The Large Blasters gave cover as well as giving suppressive fire. Certainly different and more powerful but better is hard to say.* Hacking animation is pretty cool. Sad to see that didn't transfer over... Small installations definitely should have stayed and kept the ability to offer cover like a bunker.*
Every time I see old Skirmish games, I wonder why the idea was scrapped. Rush is entirely different than King of the Hill. If they wanted King of the Hill, why wasn't it added rather than replacing a completely different mode? When it comes to the * I made, I guess the blasters were changed because the game modes are no longer really Attacker attacks and Defenders defends. I REALLY don't know why Rush-Skirmish is gone. Looked like it would be have been fun.
And that music is pretty kick ass. |

I was there. That was the only map available for Skirm 1.0. Assault rifles could outshoot a sniper if they wanted to, because there was no dispersion. Also the hit detection was terrible.. And I mean terrible.. But it was fun. I believe they changed the sound of the assault rifle because so many people complained that it didn't sound real enough. Dumb fire swarms were everywhere also.. Nothing like getting blown up from some guy camping on one of those plateaus.
Yeah... The game seems incredibly different now that I think about it.. And of I wrote a list then I am sure it would be too long.

We should also be flying around with jetpacks and having powered armor with infinite stamina and jump capability to scale walls. Please don't use the realism argument. The scope mechanics are supposed to add fun/variety to the game.
It has nothing to do with realism, Its not really 30,000 it's 2014
The "scope mechanics" we have now aren't adding any fun or variety. Only two weapons with decent sights are smg and mass driver. Not sure what variety your talking about.

Why dont we have this now? In for dev response... Players whined for iron-sights, so it got taken away. Your joking right? It's 30,000ad we should have something more advanced than ironsights. Where's a dev. this is what long weapons need to have not crappy acog sights. Ironsights work when electronics are busted. Lore wise? The old camera scopes where remote hackable and where removed from the product until they are electronically hardened enough.
But there's no way to damage sites as it currently stands. There has to be a real reason that was taken off. I've heard there were canasta sights but that's the first time I've seen them. Thats such a huge step back.

What exactly was the reason for removing those little yellow holograms(in the beginning of the video) of buildings and MCC's that was on the war table in the lobby? I thought those holograms looked cool as hell. :(

Things I liked:
The music sounded 1980s sci-fi. I dig it...a lot. That lady's voice is soooo much better."Destroy all defence relays." "Virus uploaded"...even sounds more 1980s sci-fi! Uplink Established! That map had excellent cover and seemed huge. Hack animations on the consoles. Minimap superiority. TTK (maybe a bit too long though) Where is THAT game mode?
Things I didn't like:
It looked terrible. The players looked like they were travelling on an air hockey table. Those installations looked super dumb. TTK...okay it was too long. No hack animation for the player. The spawns seemed to be horrible.
Sidenote: Camera scope? That sounds like the bees knees. Any chance of it coming back?
We can pickle that.

Why?
The nostalgia! Great memories. I remember pulling my hair out quite a lot because they wouldn't die. That's one thing I don't miss. I do miss my scout strafe and bunny hopping.

Yeah, even though I was with you on that, I don't really miss it so much. |

Why? 1. People complained abbout the hud bobbing I believe 2. I dont know why they removed the minimap :( 3. I'm not real bothered by the changing of the muzzle flash 4. I personally like the models for them now better 5. This was probably done to help improve the stability of the game 6. I'm not sure why they removed those 7. That amount of SP was given because we were only allowed to play on weekends so we didn't have too much time to gain SP. Also to allow us to use more things faster. |

The memories that video has brought me.
Although, that assault rifle was pretty crazy. I remember the forum was full of posts like this:

It was funny to me.
