As Judge Rhadamanthus pointed out earlier in his videos, there are some players who don't care for balance. They just care about getting any advantage at all costs. Balance is something they don't want. Perfect Imbalance is also something they definitely don't want either. These people just want total imbalance. The kind that is clearly out of whack and nothing more.

well then hopefully one day soon they stop playing! also if all snipers could be melee'd (meaning they can't hide behind the redline) we wouldn't have half a team of cowards farming an open objective in domination for the entire game.
how are you supposed to have fun when you're being killed by somebody who you can't get to or see?

like yesterday you posted you went like 37 kills with a minmitar militia light frame and now you say you haven't played for weeks. Anyway, If proto snipers were half decent, thales users wouldn't find the need to use the thales.

The only way they'll stop playing this game is when balance is finally implemented. Since CCP is already balancing a lot of things, it's likely they'll leave sooner than later. But it's also likely they'll just stick around and look for the next imbalanced tactic.

true that. well i'm gonna go and see if i've got enough passive SP to at least get a STD scout. if not guess I'll just use my MLT light frame guy.

We could all blame snipers for the redline and imbalanced teams... But in reality it isnt even the issue.
Not many people would sit in a redline if there was spots on the map for actual snipers... The maps are just horrific for creating balance... Separating mechanized units and infantry based units... Has no spots for snipers... Roads dead end out of no where.. Ladders lead to absolutely no where important or without any vantage points on objectives.
Massive buildings with verry little internal structure.. Most maps has a Clear advantageous side to start on... Turrets with terrible placements... You could spend half an hour everyday after play explaining why the maps are absolutely terrible in DUST...
All the room any developer could ask for making maps... Yet we have entire open fields without even a rock a peice of grass nothing... An entire field the size of 90% of CoD maps... with absolutely nothing... Seriously? How could you ever call yourself passionate about what you do and leave that. |

So you are upset that you cant go sneak up on a sniper and SG or melee him in the back? Yet you say that your gripe is getting killed by someone you cant see? Ironic.
3 things generally create red line snipers;
-Heavy counter sniping from the other team has rendered all the in map SR points as death traps.(rooftops, ledges, ect) So they retreat into the mountains.
-Team is losing so bad that there are 16 enemy players camping outside your red line. So half switches to SR while the other half hides in the MCC for the rest of the game.
-Aggressive scouts who patrol the edges of the map killing you in the back, or destroying equipment, ect. Someone who gets killed by a sniper in a 57,000ISK assault suit is not going to respawn and attack from the same route. So a sniper who gets shotgunned in the back in his 57,000ISK suit is going to do the same thing; He will go somewhere that wont happen.

Imagine the red zone as a giant shield barrier.... Where the enemy can't kill you as you spawn in and call in vehicles... Your team is redlined... You call in 3 tanks a dropship and two LAV's and rush out..... As a group...
Does that not sound like the red-lined side would have more of a fighting chance to come back?
Best fix I've seen though they do it in Planetside 2 so not original.
Bethhy wrote:Red-lines should be giant Shield barriers extended from the Warbarge done in a very New Eden way. Being behind the shield barrier doesn't allow you to shoot out of it and or receive fire from within. Allowing red-lined teams to full respawn, call in appropriate vehicles and dropships, group up and push out of the red-line and gives that side a fighting chance to come back.
The shield should only allow one pass through, meaning once you leave the safety of the shield barrier it cannot recognize you independently and let you run back into the red-line. Because the red-line shield barrier wouldn't allow damage to pass through from either side it will also nullify a lot of the players who choose to spend 80% of their game time in the red-line not contributing to their team, or truly getting the New Eden Experience of competition in the battlefield as they are not fully on it.
Furthermore if you are in the red-line for 2 minutes+ they can just blanket kick everyone from the match... Stopping the AFK in a "safe area" that hurts both sides of competition. It's of course not the players fault they take advantage of this, the blame lies with it even being a viable option.
Thanks for your consideration, Bethy.

Totally agree. Most games are total and utter ****. Most game now, like say ambush, I do one of 2 things.
Drop uplinks using a dropship in high areas. Then proceed to fly my dropship around with a CRU. If the match turns into a stomp, my dropship becomes pretty stacked full of people.
Or I run around the edges of the map, periodically dropping uplinks. I've been in many matches that should have been over quickly, but were prolonged because of this. In some cases, it can turn what starts as a losing match to a winning one.
But as far as shooting red dots, naw not interested, nor do I care to run my tank anymore. Just makin money.

Well I try that but its not always that easy. Alot of the time they will have a fleet of fully loaded deluxe tanks waiting who will shoot down the jeep. Sometimes the Bolas too. Other times ill be a little past the red line trying to do the same and they will call in an orbital on my dropship or jeep.
When i say locked in the redline, I mean that we get out when the game ends.

I like the idea and the quote you posted. My only disagreement would be the "one way pass"; I do logistics, and that means I need to switch suits depending on the situation. How would we have so that i can access a safe Supply Depot?
Besides that though, that would be a good system that would allow the other team a chance. Get locked = reorganize, rearm and charge! |

When i say locked in the redline, I mean that we get out when the game ends. DootDoot wrote:
Imagine the red zone as a giant shield barrier.... Where the enemy can't kill you as you spawn in and call in vehicles... Your team is redlined... You call in 3 tanks a dropship and two LAV's and rush out..... As a group...
Does that not sound like the red-lined side would have more of a fighting chance to come back?
Best fix I've seen though they do it in Planetside 2 so not original.
Supply depots on maps in general need rethinking now that vehicles need ammo from them aswell, Most are very hard to even access with a vehicle
The supply depot in the redline offers more of an issue when used like that. If you spawn in the redline and got the wrong suit by mistake sure it's there to refit. But having a supply depot in the redline easily accessed by mercenaries and vehicles after they enter the battlefield? hurts every player on the actual battlefield fighting over strategic points like the supply depots..
Often the supply depot in the redline is enough of a reason for players and vehicle users to kill all the supply depots on the actual battlefield.. This is a big issue.. Supply depots on the battlefield need to be looked at with less of an expendable existence... And more of a strategic need. And this won't happen until that supply depot in the redline is off limits once you leave it. |

You know what I do when 16 people are sitting on our redzone... I get a vehicle and go around them... Then I set spawn points for everyone else... How exactly does sitting back poking people with a sniper help the match?
Well I try that but its not always that easy. Alot of the time they will have a fleet of fully loaded deluxe tanks waiting who will shoot down the jeep. Sometimes the Bolas too. Other times ill be a little past the red line trying to do the same and they will call in an orbital on my dropship or jeep. When i say locked in the redline, I mean that we get out when the game ends.
That's what makes it fun... There's always a way out, if they have tanks shooting everything bring it down behind a building, or far enough into the redzone that they can't see it (the redzone is big enough on every map.) if they orbital 1 jeep you bring down another, they'll usually have wasted all their orbitals anyway, or have 2 people calling in vehicles in different areas of the redzone. |
