Quick add on the Caldari culture.
There are quite few northern euro / Scandinavian components in their language and phenotypes. I believe the specific taxonomy of the Caldanese language contains Finnish tones as per some comments by EVE Devs.
Having engaged on this topic a fair amount over the last year the key point to remember is that there may be clear overtones and themes we can draw from different existing cultures but there are very few direct connections. For example, the Caldari have themes that resonate with Japanese, Germanic / Nordic, and American cultures....that doesn't mean it's a direct decedent necessarily of any of them.
You'll notice a mixture of contemporary cultural themes across the board in races.
For my subject assessment on the Caldari:
The do get a strong sense of corporate identity, collectivism, and honor structure that ties heavily back to East Asian cultures. This is also somewhat reflected in their religious practices and language.
There is a clear and distinct vein of Germanic / Nordic influence that also is reflected in the Civire bloodline. Focused, militaristic, hard workers that can function well independently and as part of a organized structure.
Finally, there are some Western (i.e. American) components in the competitive culture of success at all facets of life reflected in the everything from deeply pervasive sports and betting leagues to the near autonomous nature of the Caldari Corps to the point they essentially nation-states in the Westphalian sense on their own. Just a quick note, from a business history perspective the Japanese copied the American corporate model and built on it however in recent times the western model corporations are far surpassing their eastern counterparts in many measurable standings.
All of this is a net effect of the genesis of the Caldari culture. Start with the fact that they are all descendant from several venture capital, mining, and exploration projects from corporations in the Terran system. These corps probably were from all over the Terran culture and they reflect that fusion now.
