And? They've had a lower precision than assaults all this time and you choose just now to complain about scan features. It only makes sense to give Logis the better range while they're at it.

Scanning is a support role. Scouts and Logistics are there to tell the grunts where to point their big guns.

I get the distinct impression that people (who play assault) seem to think that assault=better than everything else or it's not balanced.

Because if they choose to play off this strength rather than brick tank you can get squishy logis running around staying behind cover detecting stuff at 65m at <35 dB. In addition they could hack points more quickly than assaults and have equipment to back up a squad.
A logi playing off these new strengths to support rather than be a brick slayer would be more of a contributor than a brickslayer logi. |

scout: long distance logi: medium (support fit) assault: low (combat only fit)

Wow... Just when I thought scouts would have there role back they add this. With slot layout, massive CPU pg supplies, and reduction to equipment bonus and now an increased scan distance and precision. Once again a logi can do a scouts role better then a scout with way more hp. Only thing scouts have is a small base speed advantage and a sidearm.

I guess they will be taking the scout role from the scouts that don't use mods to enhance there bonuses. logi wont be close to my gallente scout range, dampening, cloak, and speed and have more ehp then me. If they have more hp then they will have to sacrifice more of what they are already lacking in comparison then i have.
so they got better precison. they have always had the ability to have better precision than scouts. caldari scout will be the precision king in 1.8

Yeah, max skills: Cal/Gal scout with 2 PRO scan amps = passive 75m, other scouts are 60m, logis are 45m. |

I pity any logi that tries to use passive scanning to any great extent in 1.8; they're an almost guaranteed OHK with my shotty if they do ;)
Here's what scan precision/range will look like at proto if all slots are devoted to precision/range amps:
Gal Scout - 26.77dB, 107.17m Amarr Scout - 26.77 dB, 85.73m Min Scout - 23.71dB, 76.05m Cal Scout - 16.78dB, 75.64m Gal Logi - 23.71dB, 67.37m Cal Logi - 21.9dB, 64.3m
So while their precision can be on par with non-Caldari scouts, they don't have as much range nor do they have the innate dampening that scouts will have. |

no-way. Look above to see how easy it is for scouts to have a huge scan range. Assaults start with half the range as scouts, so absolutely no. In terms of scanning assaults take a seat well behind logis. |

Maybe a logi needs to see threats from farther away before they run in to revive a downed team mate? maybe they need it to help watch there back while hacking objectives? maybe they need it because they are the ones healing the heavy and the heavy is blind? maybe they need it so they know when to drop hives for incoming attack? maybe they need it for placing uplinks away from the enemy but close enough to be useful?

sorry I didin't tag it as sarcasm. I have run gallente scout 99% of the time for over a year. I even posted above how logi is not going to be a better scout in 1.8 leading to the sarcastic comment. |
