Yup, I too am investing my skill points into the assault suit. I won't use it for a while, but when it's back, I will have access to it and laugh at peasants who abandoned the assault suit to become assault scouts/logis/heavies.

You are high as hell. The assaults will still be used for their mobility and ability to tank. This is how I view 1.8. Heavies cqc av, med frames medium to long range. Scout everything, but killed easily like always. Cloaks and new scout bonuses aren't gonna affect them much it'll make scouts scouty heavies heavy and medium frames adverse. The secret is to not stack damage mods and armor plates since TTK is increasing your gonna need speed and reps or high alpha damage. Only 1.8 can truly test this theory but overall people will enjoy it alot more than 1.8

I'm covered for Minmatar. Logistics 5, Scout 5, Assault 3 and I'll pick up the heavy specializations to 3 when they are available. I may be sticking to one race but I'll have options. I even have the basic frames to 5 from the olden days. Maxed out armor skills and I only need shield regulation 5 to finish off the shield skills. The majority the dropsuit upgrades tree is at 5 too.
To be safe in New Eden you train ALL THE THINGS.

So... Basically the Gal-Assault is ******? I've played with fittings so much trying to escape the Tank/Gank style but I've yet to even come remotely close to making a PC viable alternative. Hopefully this will change in 1.8 but what I've seen from stats so far just tells me anything I do a scout, heavy, or logi can do 10x better with less effort.
I really would like to know what the Assault is for? And please, don't give me that jack-of-all-trades/master of none line of BS; cause a logi is far more versatile and 9/10 all around better at having flexible fits. The Assault suit IS a specialization just like the other three, it deserves the same treatment and needs its own place on the battlefield where it excels and other suits do not. The unspecialized suits are the BASIC frames, not the Assault specialization of med-frames.

Still, won't make much of a difference with TTK increased and scouts getting an extra slot. Plus they're faster, got more CPU/PG, get a second equipment, CLOAKS, inherently hide from advanced scanners (and proto with dampening maxed), higher stamina and stamina regen, more scan range and precision (this time around, the range isn't stupidly short).
Paying 100 HP and a single slot for all of that? Catch my drift?

True enough but any scout just tanking their suit is not an effective scout Just because FoTm user will abuse it, as they do Scouts actually work with this layout, the Minja has been crying out for that extra low slot And for guys that actually perform their role, it is essential As this is where you buff speed/dampeners..
Scouts will be abused, but I'm sure CCP will do something so you can go back to abusing in your Assault fits without complaint ...

If a logi does it, then it becomes a problem It's relative.
