I am not a huge Obama supporter but we have to give him credit where credit is due. He hasn't done much different than any other president. He spewed a bunch of splork before he was elected but after being in power he didn't do what he thought he was going to. He has been alright with the military as far as doing what needs to be done. I am not too disappointed with the military actions he has taken.

It's the United States fault that crap is happening between Ukraine and Russia. We can't expect these two independent countries to make choices for themselves and be held accountable. No, It's America's job to babysit them; and not any of the other many countries in the world because "pfft".

To much inter dependency in today's global markets.
So let's say Russia does invade past the Crimea region of the Ukraine. The EU and US respond first with sanctions. Then Russia retaliates and seizes those assets on their soil. Which will effect global markets. This is all just saber rattling. One last huzzah to prove still that Russia is still viable in the world stage and able to project its military might beyond its borders and just not for defense.
China would not stand for a conflict so close to their borders either. The big risk here is the break down in the Syrian and Iranian peace process as Russia is a member of the Security Council and the G8. So no WW3 for right now, come out of your bomb shelter. |

Europe is also defended by both the Patriot and Iron Dome missile defense system which is why Putin moved their snap launch vehicles closer to Europe as to get past the first line defenses. Regardless of which Prime Minister, President or elected government is currently in office notice the main efforts are being done by Poland. And the new meeting for the G8 that was being held to discuss Lebanon will now be dominated by a relatively bloodless moment.
Yet hundreds have been killed in the Middle East with ever escalating violence. How quickly the West abandons them to solve a European problem first. That is where the greatest shame should lay. |

I really hope that no non-European countries get pulled into this. The US has literally no good reason to fight for Ukraine, except I guess their warm water southern port, but that's a really dumb reason to die over. For once I think that we should not police the world and just let natural selection run its course.

The US has already pledges $1bn to the Ukraine and the IMF has pledged $835 million. The Ukraine has also asked for international observers so that the conflict does not escalate further. There have already been multiple talks between the world leaders. It won't come to a conflict, I promise. So please take off your tin foil hats, take a step back from right wing journals and use your brains. Look at multiple sources and make your own judgement on the matter at hand.
This is why much of the world has a problem with Americans. To many of us are ignorant of world affairs. Rose tinted shades of our role in world history. Also a general lack of intelligence. So for once lets not embarrass our country and not speak unless you know all the details. Kthxbai. |

Yes, after 10+ years and trillions of dollars in war efforts, rebuilding and continued aid, the West sure has abandoned the Middle East.....by building more permanent military bases, asking for transport rights, pledging to donate hardware and trainers....sure have abandoned it.
Sh1tsake, France still has troops in Mali.
Besides, rushing to closer-closest allies (politically, not geographically) is pretty much standard procedure.

Ukraine Government signs trade agreement with Russia.
Ukraine People Protest, as they wanted the deal with the EU.
Ukraine People Build Baricades in capital, and around park where they camp out.
Government sends Police and such to remove the baricades.
Protesters build them again.
Government tears them down again.
Protesters throw rocks at police.
Police respond with tear gas, and eventually shoot at protesters.
Russia Stations troops in Crimea.
FYI, I'm a American know-nothing, but here's my thoughts.
-Russia has enough vested resources to make such a move not out of the world. I give you stimulus, you shoot workers? -Russia is, in my mind, there in the purpose to keep the peace. Ukraine isn't part of NATO. No USA or EU country is going to commit troops to anything because of that, especially if there isn't any true military conflict yet.
And no, you're not a stupid person for thinking that Russia is there to protect its interests in the Ukraine. They're defending their access port to Black Sea, which is of huge importance to them.
If Ukraine gets a strong pro-western government, they would do their best to kick Russia out of that strategic port and get EU or US warships in there instead. Russia saw that potential future and said, "Oh sh**."
This isn't ol' Adolf invading Poland, folks. This is Russia seeing the US slowly turn every nation on Russia's doorstep into a NATO country, which scares the crap out of them.
Keep in mind, I'm not sympathetic to the Russian position, just amazed at how stealthily devious the west has been at "containing" Russia over the last two decades.

Finland had initial victories because the Soviets were overconfident and poorly prepared for winter warfare, plus the fact that Stalin had slain half the command structure and put inexperienced dickwavers in their place.
When Soviets got their stuff together, Finland was pushed back significantly and Finland was forced to negotiate a peace. I find it annoying when people(mostly Finns) just share the total losses and ignore the other 95% of the conflict.
And I think you're forgetting the fact that Finns were also supporting Nahtzee-Germany in the Soviet invasion during the Continuation War, and were given supplies by the Nahtzee-Germany.
EDIT: This is completely irrelevant to the topic at hand too.

Reason why i put this here, was to show that is not the first time russia try invade some country with made up reason.Ok but still our grandparents fight and won our independence, denak you cannot say finns didn`t fight good fight.I remember that but enemy of my enemy is my friend, also i remember that germany stopped arms shipments to finland in winter war, bcause molotov-ribbentrop aggreement.Last i have to say that, why finland would support/get assisted by germany in Continuation War.Finland had just lost big part of it`s country to soviets (given to us from lenin btw)

I did not know the president and U.S. was Ukraines personal bodyguard.
I read the news, and which network do you watch him on? Fox?

You do know a few years back Russia Invaded Georgia that was during Bush's last year if I was correct. Presidency doesn't matter. Take your politically ignorant mind somewhere else. Ignorance? Interesting. I'd say informedGǪ and observant. We happened to be in the middle of a war otherwise, not due to a demagogue that inspires sycophantic ideology among his supporters.

It won't blow up like that. Your exaggerating it in a very, very bad way.
Think about it like this... If Russia went to war with the US every time we went and basically occupied a country...

Russia will take what it wants from the Ukraine and the world will do little but cluck its tongue at them and maybe engage in a bit of a trade war, if the Ukrainians are smart they will let the russian side go, because they have nothing to gain from trying to fight Russia other than pride.
Time will be the best weapon to use against Russia, as Putin and his supporters take Russia back to the "good old days" with the added accent of a pretend democracy, the roof will collapse on them again and the people will take back their country and bury the good old days for good. |

Ukraine has had a 'revolution' and just kicked out the old govt and replaced with a new one with no elections
Crimea has decided to also have its own revolution and gave the people a referendum in which the people voted to join back up with Russia
Yet the 'west' are saying that Crimeas referendum is illegal and not valid but they recognize the new govt in Ukraine who actually never got voted in
The 'west' is a ******* joke tbh
