From my knowledge of the situation...
Ukraine Government signs trade agreement with Russia.
Ukraine People Protest, as they wanted the deal with the EU.
Ukraine People Build Baricades in capital, and around park where they camp out.
Government sends Police and such to remove the baricades.
Protesters build them again.
Government tears them down again.
Protesters throw rocks at police.
Police respond with tear gas, and eventually shoot at protesters.
Russia Stations troops in Crimea.
FYI, I'm a American know-nothing, but here's my thoughts.
-Russia has enough vested resources to make such a move not out of the world. I give you stimulus, you shoot workers? -Russia is, in my mind, there in the purpose to keep the peace. They don't want such strife and civil war so close to their borders. Could bleed over into their country, kinda like Syria.
But most importantly, at least to me...

Not my place to say the Ukraine should do this, or that.
All I remember was a news article saying Russia will give them X Billion Euros worth of money, and the EU saying they will give them X-1 billion Euros of Money as a stimulus.

Though more seriously many consider it an attempt by Putin to setup a new Soviet-lite Union. |

Kinda like the Tom Clancy Novels.
I really doubt that a Russian Intelligence operative would just suddenly be hit by a taxi, whilst carrying top secret documents.
You'd think you'd be walking on the inside of the sidewalk if you we're carrying such documents and didn't want to get smacked by a drunk taxi.

This feels strangely reminiscent of Caldari Prime...hmm...well actually the days current events are not much different when Georgia attacked a breakway nation and Russia stepped in....except this time russia is in violation of the Budapest memorandum but has not actually declared that he is taking over the region only under the current pretense to protect ethnic Russians.

Ukraine isn't part of NATO. No USA or EU country is going to commit troops to anything because of that, especially if there isn't any true military conflict yet.
And no, you're not a stupid person for thinking that Russia is there to protect its interests in the Ukraine. They're defending their access port to Black Sea, which is of huge importance to them.
If Ukraine gets a strong pro-western government, they would do their best to kick Russia out of that strategic port and get EU or US warships in there instead. Russia saw that potential future and said, "Oh sh**."
This isn't ol' Adolf invading Poland, folks. This is Russia seeing the US slowly turn every nation on Russia's doorstep into a NATO country, which scares the crap out of them.
Keep in mind, I'm not sympathetic to the Russian position, just amazed at how stealthily devious the west has been at "containing" Russia over the last two decades.

I'm not a fan of Obama, but no sense in educating these kinds people. They seem to always forget and quick to blame. Typical conservatives. If he's so tough, he should go buy a plane ticket and go there and fight. Unless he's a p*ssified person. You listen to too much of Rush Limbaugh and Hannity. Try listening to Norman Goldman or Alan Colmes. You'll learn something.

Finland had initial victories because the Soviets were overconfident and poorly prepared for winter warfare, plus the fact that Stalin had slain half the command structure and put inexperienced dickwavers in their place.
When Soviets got their stuff together, Finland was pushed back significantly and Finland was forced to negotiate a peace. I find it annoying when people(mostly Finns) just share the total losses and ignore the other 95% of the conflict.
And I think you're forgetting the fact that Finns were also supporting Nahtzee-Germany in the Soviet invasion during the Continuation War, and were given supplies by the Nahtzee-Germany.
EDIT: This is completely irrelevant to the topic at hand too.

Reason why i put this here, was to show that is not the first time russia try invade some country with made up reason.Ok but still our grandparents fight and won our independence, denak you cannot say finns didn`t fight good fight.I remember that but enemy of my enemy is my friend, also i remember that germany stopped arms shipments to finland in winter war, bcause molotov-ribbentrop aggreement.Last i have to say that, why finland would support/get assisted by germany in Continuation War.Finland had just lost big part of it`s country to soviets (given to us from lenin btw)
