As this game continues progressing there is something that is always on the back of my mind. Where is the ceiling for the amount of skill points given? I think the biggest issue with this game that has a serious effect on the games long run is the amount of skill points people are allowed to a mass. I myself have easily over 20 million skill points on one character. Nothing really in drop suits and drop suits modules. I have it well spent into small turrets and dropships. Having a great deal os SP in vehicles is understandable but CCP there needs to be a limit to skill points allowed per character. If there is no new equipment that is coming out for that specific tree, then why is there no wall limit to the amount of SP you can acquire? The game needs to see the benefit of choosing one race over another. Choosing one class than another, rather than, "I am going to switch out to my heavy suit because this vehicle has been called, or I will switch from my scout suit to a medium frame because of this situation. This maybe a tall order I am asking but I feel if the game reaches where it should be, this will more likely an issue. Currently most second and third slots on characters serve no real purpose, because you can mostly do everything on just one avatar on that given account. But there needs to be some thought down the line on how the skill tree and skill points will be restructured. Having one character that can do all is great, but for a game as complex as dust, it needs some limits and rules to how and what players can do per character created. I would even go on saying that the commando tree should either have its own branch on the skill tree or at least an hybrid of basic medium and heavy of each racial tree.

That being said, while I do agree the 2nd and third characters on an account should get more use (I typically use my 2nd toon once the main toon caps out for the week, but rarely play enough to cap #2 out, so #3 gets rare use) limiting SP is not the solution. Eve has been around for over 10 years, and while many characters are highly proficient in core skills and many specialties, none are fully proficient in everything.
The key is to keep adding skills and proficiency to fill multiple niche rolls, rather than cap players artificially. That way, a newer player who focuses on a niche, might be more proficient at that niche, than a much older player who, while having many skill points, can't possibly be fully proficient at every possible niche (so a newer player, can always potentially have an advantage, at something over the high sp vet).
I like that idea, but currently Dust is far behind to even continue adding more content. The core of the game is very unbalanced and many aspects. Thus far adding more content has only placed the game further into a downwards spiral. I am sure there are many other ways this can be fixed, though if you want to give players clear niches compared to veteran players, limit what you can do with a given character is a very affective way in solving that issue. It promotes the game emphasis on team work, communication, and having a reason to play your characters strengths. Chess pieces on a chest board move in only one specific way, yet many find the game fun. I am not talking about having every character have one niche only but simply limiting it. I am an eve player by this same name, and on Eve the game may allow you to skill into many things though it has limits to how effective you will be in certain areas and what you use depending on how your character is set up. Dust from what I understand is a RPG/Shooter hybrid. Though its a bit chaotic due to the lack of restrain on what can be fitted and limitations placed.
