guys use this thread to discuss this new nerf to "ol faithful" SMG...
personally i think its not needed.. no one is QQing on the forums saying the smg is OP i feel that CCP is infact nerfing the only balanced and "well done" racial and realistic weapon in the game.
i hope they rethink this before release to be honest.

i didn't look at the exact stats, but they're nerfing ALL the overused light weapons too

I have to dis-agree with you sir the assault rifle is the most balanced weapon in then game thou the smg is a fine weapon as is, im with you on that (thou I hardly ever use it anymore it just sits on my suits as a "just in case")

all guns are getting nerfed in order to stay in balance with the rail rifle being nerfed.... meaning the rr/cr may still be the game's most OP weapons. and with the MD getting buffed and all... this makes for an interesting update. honestly i think the smg neeed to keep the damage in order to keep up with the mag-smg. we'll see though. maybe CCP knows what they are doing. they are the ones who supposedly did all the testing before the official changes.
also keep in mind that CCP has been pressured by the community to increase time-to-kill (TTK).

They are trying to lower over all TTK and a SMG isn't the most powerful but it does eat people. I carry one on most suits and it works well for me so a good player is probably pretty mean with one.

They nerfed every weapons affected by hit detection (exepting HMG). SMG was one of the most affected. Seems logic. The SMG was cutting down Heavy tanked armor in 2sec (Toxin.). It's a SECONDARY.
It's not like it was the only weapon nerfed. They all got nerfed.
Nobody said it was OP because it was in line with the others primary weapons (exepting rifles) and....Oh wait a Secondary is in line with primary...da'hell ? (I mean as equal level STD / STD.)
SMG => "Balanced" => NO. Not for an Secondary weapon. It was balanced as a primary weapon......
We are reducing the general TTK, we are not going to exclude "YOUR" weapons to keep you happy and keeping destroying the game.

They didn't nerf it because it's OP. They nerfed everything to make the TTK longer. Good thing if you ask me. My fitting will finally matter.

lol yea I ran outa ammo the otherday and a heavy charged me so I wiped out my smg and beat him with one clip

I don't feel smg's need a nerf, I just skilled into them and there nothing special like the flaylock use to be.
Scrambler rifles, the REAL way to scramble eggs...
Laser rifles, good for popping corn...
Shotgun, great for parties...

Well if everything else is also nerfed then it's ok, the SMG is usually my primairy weapon. They should add dual wield for sidearms

Just go use the Magsec SMG, it has great DPS than the AR and equal range as well. It has a .3 sec pre-charge but I am sure a good user can work past that. |

I support it in the overall advancement of increase the TTK.
I wield dual six kin smg's and can tell you first hand they are WAY overpowered. I melt people with them in like 2 seconds flat. Sure, its useful...but its crazy overpowered and the Toxin SMG's are seriously overpowered as well. |

In theory the smg is taking a buff since it has the lowest nerf @ 8.7% when everything else effected is taking 9-15.8% nerf

I've seen people taken out by, and been killed myself by some really good SMG players much faster than light weapons. So.. I disagree. SMG being reduced in damage along with the other weapons was needed, it was basically a light weapon in a sidearm slot if you specialize in it with profeciency and damage mods. |
