There is no point to have another shotgun, and how this sounds, it confirms why there's no point.
Give Caldari a Nova Sword with a charge slash (as in charge it, and a slash flies toward the enemy).

I gave a pretty clear cut role in my document, also just because a weapon doesn't have a definitive purpose in the game doesn't mean it has no place in the game. If that were true, half the shooters out there would have a grand total of 7 guns. :D Also sorry but dare I say that you saying it could be replaced with a melee weapon implies that you misunderstood the weapon role.)
Mass driver is meant for Area suppression. Doesn't mean that it is really good for using as a shotgun. Also, shotguns are, never were for, and never will be for suppression. so that argument is invalid. Also, adding **** just to is pointless unless it's the exact same as another (which at that point it's just a skin with stats), and in these games, everything does have a purpose, so that argument is invalid. Lastly, going back to my first point, a shotgun is a shotgun. the role doesn't change at all; a CQ weapon with very high alpha. Huh, is't that what I just said? Nova sword with a charge slash? I don't think you understand what you're asking for yourself, nor is thinking about the balance side of things.

When I say team support I'm thinking more along the lines of a logi's gun or a backup for a commando, and even then to say shotguns cannot be support guns is a bit concerning, have you ever played Battlefield or TF2? The shotguns in those games are incredibly weighted towards team support, and lack the stopping power to make them viable primaries in large engagements (Although shotguns in BF can be very potent.) As for the alleged pointlessness of adding guns that doesn't have a rock-solid role to fit in the game, don't you feel like thats a rather closed-minded and elitist statement? I mean, assuming all the guns are balanced, the more weapons there are, the more experimentation you can have, and the less you have to sacrifice to find you "perfect gun." A perfect example of this is Borderlands 2, you can have millions of guns and still have a fun balanced game. Also, requesting a nova sword in the same reply saying that there needs to be fewer guns? I detect silliness.
1: logi's are horrible with shotties, same for commandos, even as a sidearm (a actual sidearm will do you better). Again, argument is invalid.
2: Asking for something then using another game that preforms and behaves different from another is silly, so invalid.
3: No, i'm a realist, and look at it from all angles rather than just saying bring random **** in. If you did that, imbalance would occur, and things would end up being removed. Assumptions are bad.
4: Borderlands 2 is also PVE only, so you can't tell if something's OP or not unless the game is super ******* easy or super ******* hard, and that could be the dev's decision, so pointless o even to go off of, so invalid

I can tell I'm arguing against a brick wall of nonconstructive criticism here, I'll just take a look at a possible charging time, and you can go back to demanding an obscure nova sword. :D
1: Not demanding anything. you just hate real life. Grow up and deal with it.
2: Not demanding ****. All I'm saying is that this is not only pointless but broken as hell, and the nova sword would do better.
