The forums are always filled with people winging. Whilst Dust514 may not be perfect, its a great game that many of us are totally addicted to.
Whether it's experimenting with new suits and strategies, hanging out with your friends from all over the world, the deafening head shot sound or the glorious moment of victory when you clone the enemy team just before the final tick of your own MCC... there is something special about Dust that keeps us coming back for more.
So what is it about this game that you enjoy the most? What are your favorite and most enjoyable dust moments?

I really don't anymore. Which makes me a little sad.
I guess I'm still here because of the last couple shreds of hope that some day, we may see even just a glimpse of the DUST 514 that was originally pitched to us.
Right now, all I see is a repetitive lobby shooter with virtually no connection to EVE, an entirely broken PC, FW that lacks incentive, broken game modes thanks to bad balance, and FPS dips that would make a sloth blush.

We don't hate the game, because we know it's not the games fault. We hate CCP and how little progress has been accomplished over the year. When I loved this game I loved the customizations of the dropsuits, the numerous types of weapons, the idea of this game and its potential. I don't love the game or like it, I don't hate it either.

Seriously though, as long as the forums are full of whiny, bitchy people, DUST is alive and well.
If you ever check the forums and find the most recent post date in General Discussions is from yesterday, the game is dead.

The possibilities, mostly. There are so many ways to play in this game, ways that completely change how you play, whether that be as a lumbering heavy or a stealthy scout. It has its' ups and downs, but there are just so many things to do in Dust that aren't present (to such an extent) in other shooters as they are in Dust. Plus there's the possibilities. The game evolves, albeit very slowly, and has so much potential to become more, whereas most games, what you see is what you get and all that you'll ever get until the sequel. Dust has the potential to evolve beyond most shooters. Though mostly, it's the progression. Never been one for MMO's, but I've always liked the progression system in them.

Close-fought battles, with coordinated squads of skilled players on both sides, including assault, logistics, scouts, brick-heavies, tanks and dropships.
The buzz you get from knowing that you have to run expensive kit if you are going to win a match, which might mean you lose enough ISK that you'll have to grind for an hour to replace it.
Tinkering with dropsuit fits for hours to try and get around being one point of PG short.
Learning to fly a dropship without crashing immediately into the nearest terrain.
Pausing for a second during the battle and looking up at that ****ing planet filling the sky.
Having a little (very limited) window onto the amazing universe that is New Eden.
Knowing what CCP are capable of as a company.

DUST is the first and only FPS I have ever played ( I know all of you pub-stomping pubescent pros are shocked). I came from EVE. And it is the promise of EVE that drew me here and the idea of what we love in New Eden that keeps me here.
But I no longer stay of my own free will. My name is Howard Sanchez and I am addicted to Cloning.
CCP used to know how to spin a tale and paint a picture such that denizens galaxy wide would flock to thier call.
They have lost thier voice. Listen....silence.
My clones are stored in hardened refrigerated units all across the Black Rise region...hundreds of them. Orders to grow more are executed daily but the soul and passion with which I once embodied them has been drained away, like the blood and nanite paste soaking into soil across battlefields I have come to call home.
I came for the comraderey, for the corporations, for the clarion call to war - to stand, outside of a capsule, shoulder to shoulder with other mercenaries, to impose our collective will upon those that made us....
But they have won. CCP has duped us into believing the dream. They've shackled us to these CRUs with promises of freedom and free will. But those were taken from us by the addictive hopes we brought along.
Now we live in darkness and silence with scant hope of a future we fought for.

The Amarr.
Such a rich culture CCP has built, so far flung in a Sci-Fi game, with the most noble of ideals, the will to back it up, and the social structure to ensure humanity has unity for all time.
Not to mention the best aesthetics, weapons, characters in lore.....the list goes on.
The Amarr are probably one of the coolest in game playable racial groups I have had a great deal of enjoyment using in a game.

Not for what I find in it (Possibility of Sandbox, etc) but because it brings out the best of me
Humility to not pin every single death I suffer to game mechanics and when it is, and it is often, it gives me the chance to shrug off the frustration and find a way to beat the glitches.
This game is broken, but the way I push it and wield it to work my way(not always) hones my skills; you see I've played FPS's for almost two decades and DUST(with the protostomping, and the AA, and the tanks and whatnot) is not even close to be as challenging as games like Quake II online would feel back in the day, but don't get me wrong it gets real close, even more so than CoD or BF which don't even aspire to be what DUST might be some day.

I don't.
I used to, though. I liked how it wanted to be different. I liked the weaponry. I liked the choices you could make. I liked how it wasn't a twitch shooter. I liked how you could call in vehicles of varied shapes and sizes. I liked how there where 4 races with distinctive traits attached to them. I liked the illusion of influence we had on Eve.
Now, it's just meh. I started doing worse because matches started being less fun. Same maps, same game modes, everything is the same. |

I love the role-based combat, I love the thrill of fighting with expensive fits, especially LP ones, on the line. I love spending days of testing tweaking my suits. But mostly I love, as a solo player, being matched against organized squads of skilled players, and that 1 out of 10 times when I come out on top and carry my blueberry team to victory. I take no pleasure in trashing random kids in COD because it means nothing to them- they just respawn and we do it all again. There's no sweeter kill than those 'Neo' prototype suits, especially when you're duking it out with multiple at once, and they've just finished slicing through your militia team like butter. It keeps me playing long after I cap for the week. |

No, not the complaint community, but the awesome corps and cool people I've run into. It's a good game, despite what everybody else says. They wouldn't keep playing it if it wasnt good :D

Since September 2012, I've listened to dozens of Eve podcasts, read Templar One, multiple Eve characters and become a director of one of the most vibrant corps in Dust. I am a believer in CCP. I still believe they will make this game awesome.

I still believe CCP will make this game better, and I wont leave. The constant frustration keeps me here, and I'm still learning. And I'm actually enjoying being around other people. Things I love about DUST 514 actual:
Dropship dogfights. Hands down the best part of the experience for me, especially on the very rare occasion where I go up against another railgun incubus. Watching Python pilots pull these crazy maneuvers while I haul my heavy ass ship around to keep them in my crosshairs all while trying to match their altitude or stay on their tail is just glorious.
Shotgun scouts of all flavors. I should have never went Prometheus pilot in Uprising because it just totally threw off my entire closed beta experience and plans to become a scout. I love how sneaky you can already be without cloak, hopping into groups of enemies from behind and just scoring kill after kill while they're busy shooting at your allies.
Cooking locus grenades. I still have never skilled into Core Atomic Bomb Grenades after all this time, simply because I'm pretty sure they violate some form of war treaty somewhere, but otherwise cooking grenades is an awesome skill to have and makes grenades so much fun.
Jihad Jeeps. Imbalanced or not, they are just so hilarious. It gives the same level of joyous lulz that murder taxi used to, back in my days as a goon
DUST 514 videos, what few we see from CCP. I know that they're mostly a pack of lies (drones, remote rep dropships, big pitched battles, skyfire batteries etc etc), but regardless, they're something I love about the experience and desperately wish we had more of.
DUST 514 artwork, of which we also see far too little of.
Patch notes.

Things I loved in the past that no longer exist but might someday: No AA so people actually needed to aim, higher TTK, Good matches (Not every match a protostomp)
Things I still love about the game: Dropsuit customization (although in pubs it's all about hp and damage mods), Social aspect of Corporations, squad tactics, getting two orbitals with a buddy in a heavy suit while I'm logistics, Headshots with a sniper rifle, more I can't think of.

What do I love about DUST 514?
The main things would be that its the first game that my fiance and I play together, Love the weapons and the selection of said weapons... but most of all I love that for some reason people in this community actually seem to like playing the game with me and chatting.
One of the best community's I have ever been part of also the only one I have ever posted on the forums of.
Thank you CCP for all the fun and all the great features
It is better to be thought an idiot, then to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

The team work with one squad or more. The fact that you have to use team work and timing to take an objective. I have found no other game has that yet on an console.

Love and hate are two sides of the same coin, i hate this game allot sometimes and i love it other times, but its because it makes me feel thos way that i know i enjoy it.
Also RE kills, sometimes i follow a heavy 100s of metets just to drop an RE and kill him right before he gets a kill or finishes a hack

I love Dust because every Dropsuit fit is different and there is counter to everything (you just need to think outside of the FOTM box)
I love hiding as a scout with MD or pistols or RE's I love how the NK kills are the most satisifiy way to kill them proto suits. I love running 2x complex kincats on a heavy with HMG... you would never belive how many ppl run around corner and start reloading their gun just to be shot into the head with HMG from that sprinting "Boulder" I love killing tanks with RE's and proxiy mines
etc the list goes on.

This . . .

And this . . .

And this, though I do none of it myself (it's just the idea of the complexity and endless possibilities of the game) . . .
etc. etc.
It really is a fantastic game, else I wouldn't be playing it. It does have its moments. We players can get a bit too demanding and impatient though, and some of us are maybe just a wee bit immature, which is fine too. We all have to die sometimes for the other guys too you know. It can't all be invincible godmode all the time "because that's what's fun." |

There are a few aspects that I have become some what addicted to here in New Eden. They are Listed below in order of importance.
1. Social Experience - There are many people in the game that I have grown to be good friends with and I love hanging with them as well as competing with each other in matches.
2. Growing my SP - For now there is a level of fun in seeing how much SP you can get per week (I play ALOT after cap to feed this). A certain love for this comes from the fact that I keep a few million in unallocated at all times which gives me a certain superior feeling when i can just toss it into some thing that I want while others grind and count down to the number when they unlock whatever skill it may be, I realize that I am just grinding in advance but there is still a certain amount of satisfaction from it.
3. Never Ending Tuning - No matter how long you spend on your fits you can always optimize them better for different situations. I have different suits for various maps / modes / people we are playing / in or out of squad and I still find myself realizing places that a different setup could perform a little better. Combine this with working to optimize them on profit / loss as well and it makes it really stimulate the mind.
4. Ever Changing Tactics - I rank this last cause with the player base and the number of maps this has grown a little stagnant but it is still possible to perfect your actions for a map or the players you are against to try to gain the upper hand in the same way a coach makes plays for his team. This could be easily number 1 on the list if there was a little more variety to the maps (some progress on this has been made since I started in May along with Uprising) as well as the game modes and a larger player base so that you do not automatically know atleast what the other team is going to be wearing in many cases as soon as you come in to a match. |

Why I love DUST 514:
Minmatar! I love the Matari race a lot. I never really cared for lore but over time I saw people showing affinity and pride in certain races so I started to do some digging. I was amazed by how much the Minmatar race suits me and the parallels I can loosely draw from their history of being enslaved and breaking free. Aside from the lore, I unknowlingly used and loved the MD, RE, repair tool and etc as staples before I knew they were Matari tech and the mantra of hit & run subterfuge tactics appeals to my inherrent tactical mindset. I love the look of all the dropsuits and gear and put my 33 mil SP main on the back burner to make COVERT, my Matari pride and joy.
Lore in general The lore in New Eden is awesome, the races, their history etc is really interesting and rich.
Being a scout I was a logi since E3 build (bar Codex where I was a DS pilot) but when I got into Minmatar I decided to roll scout first and have fallen in love with the class. I will be a Matari scout moving forward!
Skill training Oh man, I'm a dopamine junky! I love skilling **** up and advancing my merc. I love the wide variety of skills that help you play the way that you like to play. I also like how a player can fully spec into vehicle and rarely even put his feet on the ground. I remember an early interview with CMO David Reid where he talked about how a merc could become a dropship specialist. I REALLY loved the idea of playing an FPS but not really playing an FPS in the traditional pew pew sense..
Dropsuit customisation I love how you can set up your suits to play to your strengths, augment your weaknesses or do a mix of both. Dropsuit fittings along with skill training offer me everything I could want in terms of customisation (bar custom skins and weapon modification).
Surplus of Rare Artifacts Get this damn song back in the game CCP!!!!!!!!!!!
Vehicle combat I loved my brief stint in BF3 for this reason and its a big part of why CoD never interested me, FPS games without vehicles just don't interest me at all. I look forward to the years to come where this aspect of the game will be fleshed out with HAVs, hoverbikes, jets and MTACS...whenever that may be (I'm patient).
Economy I love that as mercs we are responsible for our own assets. The fact that you own what you use adds a feeling of urgency that I haven#t experienced in other FPS games and downing a proto, a costly vehicle or even better a merc in AUR gear feels unlike anything else you'll feel in other shooters.
Environments I love the skyboxes and environments. I look forward to the day when we have all of the race's architecture represented in game. Looking forward to some Minmatar levels of course.
Jihad jeeps DUST 514 is the only game that has ever been able to make my heart race and it happens during those few seconds leading up to impact. I was concerned I might have a hart attack one day lol.
Nova Knives Oh man, nothing beats the feel of seeing a red dot hacking and knowing you're about to slice him a new a-hole.
Many many many other things could be listed. I love CCP as a company and the culture surrounding the development of the game, things like dev blogs, dev interaction and of course Fanfest. I enjoy playing with the cool people in my humble corp and the other friends I've made out there in New Eden.
I love being part of a huge work in progress, experiencing the highs and lows of development and playing the game as it grows and evolves.
I love DUST 514. <3
