I believe it will be either a commando or assault. Not sure what race, but IMO armor tanked are better. They are easier to fit (cpu/pg) and can take more damage.
I'll go over pros and cons of assault, commando, and scout. Even though listen, I believe the scout sniping is inferior.
Pros of the commando: -High hp pool -Bonus to damage -can use another light weapon to be useful on non-sniper friendly maps.
Cons of commando sniping -slow as hell (not sure, but do they have equipment slots? if not harder to resupply)
Pros of assault -Mobility -Possible bonus that helps improve light weapons -can carry own ammo resupply
Cons of assualt sniping (I do not see a downside to assault sniping at this time)
Pros to scout sniping -can stay of the radar -ninja vanish in 1.8 -can carry ammo resupply
Cons to scout sniping -lol hp -no noticible increase to weapon as with the commando or assault - easily counter sniped by militia with no sp, leaving long periods of time respawning and relocating to a new spot.
When I look down my scope, all I see are dead people.

Provided damage mods aren't nerfed into oblivion, Caldari Commando is going to be a really, really good sniper. I believe damage mod changes are going to be bad for sniping. It currently takes 3 complex damage mods to score a single kill with the kaalakiota (the only true proto SR, (Thale is the best but not readily available)).
Almost every other "rifle" has enough DPS to mow down 3+ players per mag without a single damage mod. COmbine that with AA, and the game makes up for server lag for them automatically, while non AA weapons do not benefit from this makes it having AA completely unbalanced.

Two Equipment slots, and you can tank 700+ Armor. This is tempting, beacause of...

Once again CCP, everybody is just going to spec the easiest thing rather than what would be appropriate for the role. Sniper rifle is already nerfed to death for what it is for anyway.
Let's just all go heavy. Make it easy. This Is what I believe. Unfortunately, the damage mod nerf combined with server lag/hit detection will render the scout sniper virtually obsolete due to the alpha damage not being effective at proto levels vs proto suits with proto regen abilities.

Joseph Ridgeson wrote:Logistics will still probably be top dog in my opinion. Dropping ammo and a spawn point in case you get killed is really powerful. Even more so, grab a bunch of PG/CPU enhancers and use a Cloak yourself when you get caught. While the amar logi is the best choice out of the logistics suit, the lack of extra damage will hurt it in 1.8. A sniper that equips uplinks should only use them to help their team. Using them in the manner you describe is lol, and please continue to do so. I already know where you at, and know where you are going to respawn, making you easily farmed kills.

I just think the only good sniper is a dead sniper... including you ;) You don't hardly ever die to sniper's because there are hardly any real snipers on anymore. The weapon is UP until you stack damage mods . Even then it is sub par vs proto suits. Combine that with ****** hit detection and server lag, crap zoom, and horrible rendering, combined with maps designed to not have any smart sniper locations.
If you do want to test your merrit, I can be found playing Caldari FW. There, I start in a suit with an uplink, and put up what is usually the only uplink on my side. I am often the only reason my side ever holds a point for some time.

Scheneighnay McBob wrote:You missed some pros to scout sniping
Very high mobility (you can GTFO very quickly if need be, also easy to move with your targets) Passive scanning makes you hard to sneak up on if you keep an eye on your mini map In 1.8 they'll have 2 equipment slots
Personally, I think the suit you should pick is all about how you snipe. If you like to move around alot like me, go with a scout If you like to sit in one place or want a perch cloaser to the action, go commando.
Not really any reason to take an assault over either of the 2, unless a frontline perch is inaccessible with a commando. I prefer the high mobility and shadowing my squad/team. The issues that plaque snipers has caused me to find alternate routes of playstyles to best help my team. I often dropship pilot with a heavy suit with fluxes to reclaim highground from the enemy, getting kills and equipment destruction in the process. From there I usually switch out suits, and get back to the highground to deny enemy .

Dimmu Borgir II wrote:Challenge accepted... but wait... are you a redline Thale sniper?? Because if you are, the only real counter is to be a sniper myself and I can't snipe for ****! If you do sneak out of your redline though or at least hide just inside the redline, I'll definitely be up for the hunt On smaller maps with highground around the outside, Ill start just out of the red till I see how my team is attacking. From there I move to higher risks spots based on tmy teams ability to push. On med to large maps, I'm usually on the map in odd spots if I can get to them from the start. In Cal fw, my side is usually redlined, which means I will be behind your team shooting them in the back.
