Don't spend any points until we know if 1.8 comes with any form of Respec. If we don't get one, wait to see all the final stats. If we are getting one, spend your points frivolously to try things out (note, only spend them on things they state we get back, more than likely dropsuit command stuff).

A base x1 skill costs around 310,000 sp to get to level 5, so, just take that number times whatever the multiplier to get how much level 5. That's all.

They do. That's why if you look at a starter fit now, you'll think "what was CCP thinking, there is so much extra CPU/PG, this suit could be a lot better". At least, that's what I thought when I remade one for $hits and giggles.

Come 1.8 (March release) all heavy suits (Sentinel and Commando) will be released. Actively, yes, extenders give you more HP usually, but, passively, all suits get better. Plus, the negatives (Shield extenders increasing delay on recharge, armor making you slower) are not present with passive. Again, I'd wait, max out your passives 'til Saber or Logibro or one of our other overlords says yay or nay to repsecs.
