Now for some reason every time I say this, people think I'm insane and say I lack a basic understanding of property laws, but if an RDV pilot gets your vehicle or himself destroyed BEFORE you have control over your vehicle, shouldn't he be the one who has to pay for it? I mean, if you ordered something online, and the truck delivering it to you crashes on the way there, why the **** would they make you pay for the item you ordered because it got destroyed while out of your control. The deliveryman would obviously be the one who paid for it, or at least the company he works for. Every time I tell someone this on Dust they think i am ******* crazy. Am I insane for not wanting to pay for something that was destroyed prior to me having physical ownership of it?
Also if RDV pilots get destroyed because they were called into a heated warzone, then they should just say "lolno, too dangerous." and if you insist, THEN they can charge you for endangering their pilots.
Make sure to tell me I'm crazy and have no understanding of property and delivery laws.

Did you pay extra for insurance? No? Then they are not obliged to compensate you for your loss. That's how shipping real packages works, at least, I think. When you asked them to deliver it somewhere hazardous, you accepted the risk of damage or destruction prior to delivery. Because the RDV company's desire for corporate gain is more powerful than your single merc's. Their legal team makes sure they don't pay a cent more than they have to, and given that we can't seem to sue them, they have to pay nothing at all. |

Parking spot = battlefield. Chance of succesful parking and not getting caught = chance of RDV exploding on battlefield en route to vehicle drop off or not. Either case, your responsibility.

Please explain to me how a clearly deranged RDV pilot who I do not legally own is my responsibility.
Just because CCP made this the mechanic doesn't mean it makes sense/should be defended yo.

I'd like to the the court case that rules that the buyer of a product is charged a fee because the deliveryman didn't do his job. If CCP actually wants to have a working in-game economy, they should probably learn basic delivery laws. Being in space doesn't mean people can ******* charge you because they failed to deliver something.
They way I see it, until the vehicle is physically on the ground, and the RDV pilot no longer has physical ownership of it, the RDV pilot/company is still legally liable for it, because you know, thats how delivery services work.

Seems like people are defending the game's mechanics for the sake of defending the game, I'm fairly certain everyone would like it if their RDV doesn't charge them for the vehicle that got rail gunned before it even touched the ground.

Spoken not for the sake of, Hynox. If its gunned down by a rail, well, its gunned down by a rail. It's a battlefield. I expect things to happen to a big ship that decloaks with a new toy being delivered to some no name mercenary hiding behind a trailer. |

I'm fine with RDV's getting destroyed, I'm even fine with refusing to deliver in a high-combat area, I just hate having to pay for cars I never got to drive, nor do I think others should have to pay for cars I blow up mid-transport.

RDV's don't have pilots, they are drones, drones owned by the corporation you fight for and are only following a command that you sent from your neocom handpad thing. You made the call so you foot the bill.

Actually their human pilots, hence theres a cockpit and a windshield. I believe CCP also had some sort of concept art blatantly showing an RDV pilot, although I wouldn't blame you for not trusting concept art.
BUT THAT WINDSHIELD THO

Other than 1 hilarious time an RDV released my CEOs Dropship from about the map ceiling, i've never seen an RDV crash for no reason. If it got shot down, if it crashed into another RDV, if you got killed before you could get into your chosen vehicle, thats on you. Be more careful and pay more attention.
This is akin to saying you should be refunded the price of a dropsuit if you get killed from behind because you didn't know there was a guy behind you.
I haven't failed 10,000 times, i've successfully found 10,000 ways that won't work.

I don't think you should get refunded if you got it into a situation where an enemy was able to shoot it down in the middle of the battlefield (aside from when the RDV derps out and spends 5 minutes hovering in place while the payload rubberbands between the ground and the RDV)
But it would be nice if the game was somehow able to recognize when you lose your freshly deployed vehicle to BS unrelated to enemy action and returned your stock of the fitting. I've lost several dropships in the redline at the start of a match from the RDV dropping it high enough where the dropship tilted back on its ass from the impact and exploded |

if maybe covering glitches and occasional ob strikes but if you call in your lav in front of a enemy tank and the tank blows up ur RDV and in turn destroys your LAV then no you should not be reimbursed for your stupidity (plus that would be too explointable )
but i do like the idea
b/c ive lost dropships many time bc the rdv is ******** an bups it or drops it from too high

Alright... well since this topic has received sssoo much attention I shall now proceed to tell you all the things that are wrong with this idea and why is should never happen in any game
1) Hynox is stupid and often blurts out things that usually make no sense and should be completely ignored.
2) RDV are more than likely manned by some sort of android robot that is incapable of making its own decisions therefore it should not be to blame when something goes wrong but whomever directed the robot to do what it did should be held accountable for what happens. This is not only because the player is fully aware of what the RDV will most likely do but also is fully aware of the possibilities of calling anything down in a war location.
3) There should always be some sort of punishment when the PLAYER does something wrong (I say player in caps because it is not the RDV that makes the choices it is the player) if there was no punishment for such things punishing for other things like say jumping into lave would be questioned and that would be unacceptable. I believe that dust is not only a rewarding game but it is a game that defines its successes only by the magnitude of its punishments(i.e.an economy, factional warfare, planetary conquest. )
Well I believe I have made my point clear and I hope Hynox stops making his random stupid ideas public for the world to ravished and dwell upon.
P.S I have some more points to make on this subject if anyone was not convinced by these three.
I am most definitely, maybe, probably, possibly, PERHAPS Zingy...
