We have no devblogs about 1.8 and the feedback threads they opened haven't been updated.

Nice vid. Ccp definitely needs to get people like Judge on to look at things when new builds are being passed. Or at least put up a test server where things can be tinkered with.

The biggest problem for balance at the moment, IMHO of course, is the fact that CCP is trying to balance an incomplete spectrum of factors. Once all dropsuits, weapons, equipment, vehicles, turrets, modules etc etc are in the game then we can start making progress. Until then I expect lop sided duct tape attempts at balance like the disaster that was vehicle/AV.

I agree and understand what he is saying that we shouldn't make decisions based on 'snapshots' but I hate how he skews or leaves out data to get his point across. The Adv AFG vs Hardened dropship example. Yes hit for hit they seem balanced, but this isn't turn based strategy RoF is a strong relevant factor that shouldn't be dropped for simplicity's sake. The small fires a shot every 1.2s, vs the AFG's after every 2.4s (or 2.25s for op5), means that for every FG shot the DS has already fired off two. Meaning the DS can easily kill the FG in half the time of miss half it's shots and still possibly kill the forge gunner. That TTK graph looks an awfully a lot like the ones he was saying were bad, so in order for it to support his argument he drops RoF from the equation intentional or not. That is misleading.

Why are we using a breach forge gun vs a tank again?
Breach forge guns are highly situational and best used vs dropships while using proper positioning.
If AV is terrorizing dropships along with rails, just give them a built in resistance to rails and AV by a cut rate per level.
Level 5 dropship would give you a built in 30% resistance at 6% per level.

Another great, informative, well thought out presentation Judge Rhadamanthus!!! I salute you sir. Cant wait to see what changes 1.8 brings too. A lot of these balance issues need to be sorted out well in advance if they are wanting to make PVE a challenging success as well. I'm very sceptical about the redline being actually fixed properly by 1.8 though. We are still waiting for our vehicle lock for squads from 1.7!. When the redline damage in/out is nullified by an invisible shield or whatever and also the players ability to return there whilst in a vehicle removed it will expose implausible and OP fits very quickly I'm sure. CCP is lucky to have the vast majority of its play testing done by Dusts loyal fans. Once redline issues have been resolved CCP need only keep an eye on our play styles and fits through honest feedback that Youtubers like Judge Rhadamanthus, CEOPyrex, Bam Havok, X Ghazbaran and indeed anyone whos ever took the time and care to upload even a vid of a bug to CCP. I have a lot of faith that CCP will get this game in a vastly more polished state when they announce it on newer platforms but I'm worried that the immediate problems will delay the much needed addition of maps vechicle parity for the game I am playing every day now. The waiting game becomes worse for all when issues that Judge highlighted are almost a game to game occurrence.

I agree with Asha on that he doesnt show all the variables (i dont blame him, is a lot of information), but he is showing an important part of the "spectrum imbalance" and he indeed has knowledge of the actual game, knowledge useful to devs. |

This guy put a lot of work into his video,but I content,like another post said,until we have all the content,this game will never really be balanced.Furthermore,I would say that until we have at least 32vs32 matches,it won't be balance either.
I hate tanks as they currently are,but if you have four people shooting at one tank with AV,this probably wouldn't be much of an issue,but as it is now,a team can't really afford to have four people dedicated as AV to take out a single tank.That's 25% of a team to quickly and effectively take out possibly one person.That's right there is what's imbalanced.
