I was thinking about this earlier, because the only real draw in spending AUR for me in the past was BPOs. I don't really think the economic implications of STD/MLT gear are that big, but the appeal for me was mostly in snagging a unique look that you'd always have. It's harder to justify paying money for a cosmetic item that will a) go away forever when you die or b) may lose its original cosmetic appearance.
At any rate, assuming I'm not alone at feeling vastly less interested in procuring more ephemeral sorts of items (to say nothing of some lingering issues with some BPOs), one has to ask what one WOULD feel inclined to pay for. After all, it's a F2P game and sales of "some" kind need to drive it. People that were previously willing to pay for something like the Vet/Elite packs are presumably seeing less of interest now in that respect, and that's not the sort of revenue stream whose loss is good for Dust in the long-term. Ideas get kicked around in the forum sometimes, and I thought I'd mention them,
APPEALING: Nova Knife's thread about AUR-based exchange of one BPO for another more racially appropriate one. --this presents a great opportunity to correct what was one of the largest issues with the BPOs that were released... their slant towards the pre-release race/role combos. Not everyone is into Caldari Assault or Gallente Scout. With the upcoming suit release, this present an even greater range of possiblities for people to have suits that reflect their play-style.
Race change/Avatar Change/Starter BPO change/Citizenship Change --These are interrelated and recurring requests. Many of us (including myself) made race decisions back when we were explicitly told it didn't matter (impacted nothing, not even forum avatars, "starter" BPO was determined by earlier class choice, etc.), or without knowing anything about the empires. Later all of this changed drastically and we lost the fit we had for our chosen "class" and received starter fits and avatars for the race we'd picked long ago.
For both RP reasons, actually being aware of the differences, and minor preferences - there's a lot of us that would like to "switch" races in some way - even if it's a one-time thing. I don't know if you'd want to limit this to people that chose before it mattered, but it's something people care about. There's several elements here though. Changing what "race" we are in the game files is one thing, and it some ways the bit on the character sheet is possibly the least important. Race also impacts: living quarters, starter fits, and Avatar. There was also a proposal for FW to enable "citizenship changes" which presumably could do all or none of these things, and could be free or cost AUR.
Point basically being is that there's a market for this sort of thing which wouldn't be detrimental to balance.
Living Quarter Upgrades --This gets kicked around occasionally. People would like to be able to bling out their quarters. Depending on who you talk to, it seems like they want paint jobs, pets, stripper poles, interactive devices, larger living spaces. I'd hope this wouldn't be "all" AUR honestly, it seems like having AUR upgrade size and then having ISK upgrades sections, fixtures, decorations, etc. or vice-versa would be a on the level of the sort of balance you'd want to try to strike with stuff like that. On a related note is the idea of station-changing in general, which considering it just means traveling elsewhere in the EVE universe, probably should not be an AUR transaction.
NOT APPEALING:
Cosmetic expendable items. --Experience has made me wary here. Take the Burnscar, whose only purpose was as a cosmetic AUR weapon (You still need PRO-level skill to equip it, and it didn't have improved fitting). It was supposedly defined by a Ruby-Gold appearance. As you can see in those screenshots, it no longer has that. So, a limited, expendable, item only useful for cosmetics... no longer cosmetic.
These are just a few opinions, obviously. There was a similar thread about this in General earlier this month. I avoided some of the more controversial ones (and all respec discussion is supposedly locked in that one thread anyhow), but I'm curious what else people would feel ok paying for. I can get that "game is broken, don't give them money, arghhh" sentiment (check my sign for some of my own frustrations), but as a practical matter a F2P game needs a revenue stream. How would you prefer for CCP to be taking your money, in theory?

I like how CCP subtly locked your Burnscar thread but never responded to it. I guess that's how you make sure people stop caring about an issue, by silencing those that do care.
But more to the point, I agree about AUR being used for cosmetics, BPO swaps, and merc quarter upgrades. Not so sure about the "citizenship" bit, since ostensibly we will one day be able to move where our merc is located.

Skill Books? Let use buy those with AUR.
Cosmetic Skins that maintain after you die. I Really wanted that Old "Relic" Armor for my Standard CalSalt. But I would never pay for it repeatedly every time I die
EVE Style Boosters. Perhaps similar to the Burn Cards in Titanfall, you buy like a set for 100 of the things, and they give you a stat boost for that match, and are expended at the end of the match. Things Like 10% faster Cooldown from modules, or 15% less heat generated from weapons, or even 10% reduce reload time. Nothing like Increased Damage or ROF, or range, but things that would have a impact on the game, but not be unbalancing. Incomparable stat changes

I wouldn't mind paying for an AUR upgrade to living space. Like... you go from your studio apartment to a 2-BR or a loft, and maybe you have a mansion or penthouse somewhere along at the end.
You'd need other things do in your place besides pick your nose and spin in circles though. You'd want some ability to customize/decorate it outside of the size I'd think as well. |

I see the Construct weapons to be of little marginal profit as well. I don't see many people that run "Construct" items. At all. Srsly. I'd rather get ability to color change my suit to my liking, Change my race around, or modify my starter suit's weapon BPO. Living quarters upgrades could be fun. Room changes would be fun too. It gets old sitting around in the same room for about an hour if you play a day of dust.

BPOs are vanity items, really. That's why people are so crazed about things like the Templar items. It's not that STD Amarr suits are awesome. Red patterned heavy suits, etc. are pretty awesome though.
I can see people wanting to do that first thing, trading their Dren Heavy, Assault, and Scouts for all Minmatar versions, for example? Then they can be full-on Minmatar supporters.
I'm curious if this... Nova... something (?) guy means he wanted to do the same thing with weapons? Like... trade your SMG BPO for a Magsec BPO? Or... trade your AR BPO for a STD Rail Rifle BPO? Or is it suit specific?
At any rate, I like the stuff. I like the idea of race changes for older players. I like the idea of BPO swapping. I like "permanent" vanity items, unlike the current offerings. |

Vanity, Community, Corporate identity
quote from here:
Malkai Inos wrote: The CPM should keep pushing the possibilities of vanity/visual benefits as a path of monetisation. With heavy emphasis on corps and corporate identity (to the point of entire corps posting and acting almost exclusively in-character (grr goons!)) in New Eden i see a potent market for several offerings, such as:
Personal and Corpwide custom suit/vehicle paint schemes. Can be made available in tiers e.g.:
I) Generic colors from limited pallette II) Above with extended pallete and simple patterns (classic camos, fractals etc.) III) All of the above, alternate material shaders (flat/worn, rusted, carbon, goldBlink) and the ability to paint parts individually for "one of a kind" designs (client performance concerns?).
Alliance ads:
I)Alliance Banners in PC/FW war barges during selected timezones (open corp info when interacted with) II) Corp/Alliance description on Merc quarter TV
Making all of those tradeable items (like PLEX) would allow corp leaders to pay for them through taxes and hopefully alleviate the "who's paying for it?" issue. It keeps those features from being locked behind a solid paywall aswell.
To get to the topic CCP could also bundle these with subs:
"Mercenary" sub nets one 30day booster and tier I personal colors, Some AUR. "Veteran" sub includes one 30day booster+ tier II personal and tier I corp colors, Some AUR "Elite" sub includes tier III customization and banners (+benefits for corpmates? 1day boosters, even?!).
You can take a benign object, -you can take a cheeseburger and deconstruct it to its source...

I've put several hundred dollars into this game since closed (micro transactions can be evil, just a little here, and a little there builds up really fast sometimes) and I've never spent a single AUR on either purely vanity items or expendable items. My only two AUR purchases have been
Everything else is simply underwhelming to me.
The BPOs being STD and lower gear give me a way to try new fits and play styles without investing heavy amounts of ISK and SP into testing, thus allowing a more relaxed flexible play style without breaking the risk vs reward dynamic of Dust (after all a MLT scout fit is hardly going to be game breaking).
The Skill Boosters (as the LP ones would only motivate me if they boosted the standings gained per match, rather than the LP) are great because they give me a bit more for my time once I've reached cap and allow me to try and finish protoing out my support build (I'm nearing 40 million SP and don't have a 100% proto support build finished yet, and I've been pretty focused with my SP use).
Cosmetic items I can understand the appeal of for some players, and I totally support their inclusion within the game, but they don't do anything for me personally. The nearest thing to a cosmetic item (aside from the already released BPOs if we're counting them in their current form as cosmetic) would be the ability to create and apply a couple of decals to our armor. The ability to mark squad affiliations and role designations on the fittings would be useful and fun (though I admit in a battlefield context it's going to be more fun than useful ).
Spending IRL funds on consumable objects, or objects within game that have zero net mechanical effect simply does not motivate me, and while I know there are some that it does motivate I also know I'm not alone in feeling this way.
CCP if you want more $ from me (aside from my EVE subs ) put up MLT/STD versions of all racial gear in BPO form for AUR, I'll buy them all even if they're mostly redundant. Even better, release the various types of Omega Booster back onto the market, and for good measure give us a booster that will increase the standings gains from FW matches.
Beyond those things I can't come up with a single idea which would motivate me to spend money on the game at this point (though I do support the spend AUR to change the racial alignment of a BPO and see no reason why players shouldn't also be allowed a one time for AUR racial realignment or citizenship change as well).

ARGH, don't remind me. It was a terrible idea for CCP to take away the sexy red-n-white look of the 'Kindred' scout and the godly gold-n-white appearance of the 'Solstice' scout suits. As of right now, both of them are just using the standard-issue blue-n-white which is NOT COOL YO!
