I'm hearing lots of whining about how every no-skill scrub can aim perfectly and land bullets, and how this is either exacerbating or negating gear discrepancies (depending on whether it's someone with or without proto gear doing the complaining).
This has quite simply not been my experience. First, I still mange to out-strafe many people, even while wearing a heavy suit. Second, it's still completely possible to beat people simply by being quicker on the draw, like an old Western. Two heavies round a corner face to face- the one who reacts more quickly and more accurately is going to win. Third, aim assist does not help you land headshots. Combine this with a little strafing and it's absolutely possible to slice through enemy after enemy.
tl;dr get quick. Aim assist is just that- an assist, not some magical aim-locking auto-firing unicorn bot. |

Thanjac wrote:Depends on the heavy suit, weapon, and player combined. I have run around a corner in my sentinel suit and started firing first, normally I win, even against bad proto sentinels in my std suit and gun. But that is the player, now if it is a good sentinel I am toast because he is using better gear.
Right, and that's by tier design, which I dislike but whatever, that's working as intended by the devs, Crutch514 is how they sell AUR. The point is, player gun game does still matter, and anyone who says otherwise is just a delusional baddie. |

Now I'm not saying CCP should totally remove it (Though I would love for them to remove aim assist and bullet magnetism and what ever else they have) but it does need tuning and turning down.
Like others have said, go into a FW match and shoot a blue dot, wait until he starts to shoot back and then see for yourself how this game used to be. No aim assist = fights last longer.
As a KB/M user it is blatantly obvious how much AA helps out. I go from using my KB/m with no AA over to a DS3 with aim assist and its just laughable.
They can keep AA and everything with it if us KB/M dudes can get back the aiming we has in chromosome.
I'm not saying AA doesn't have a huge effect on the game and on TTK- I'm just saying that players who were better than average without AA are still going to be better than average with AA, and ditto to below-average players. If you were winning before, you can still win.
I agree KB/M is awful right now, as an ex-PC gamer I can't tolerate it. I'd rather use the imprecision of a silly controller than Dust's godawful excuse for mouse input. |
