CCP why do the gal and Amarr heavies have so much shield, why does the cal heavy have so much armor. I propose you change the HP distribution on the sentinel suits to be more in line with the races tanking style. These are my proposed changes. These makes each sentinel unique and not just slightly different iterations of one another and are true to EVE lore. These are with maxed passive shield and armor skill.
Amarr Shield 100 Armor 1100 With the Amarr sentinel you will get the most armored, slowest walking dropsuit known, a true gluten for punishments with over 1450armor, (3 complex plates) a holy beacon in true Amarr glory, a bulwark in service to empress and empire.
Gal Shield 244 Armor 900 With the Gal sentinel you can easily have a self sustained high armor rep sentinel not reliant on rep tools but self repping 26hp a sec (4 complex reps)repping under cqc fire in a true gallente fashion as a shield to the federation.
Cal Shield 900 Armor 244 With the caldari sentinel you can have a true regen monster with over 1000shield (2 complex shield ext) HP repping at 60 a second (2 complex rechargers) or show the true shielding power of the caldari with close to 1200 shield (4complex shield extenders) as a rampart to his state.
Min Shield 516 Armor 516 Easily the most versatile sentinel with equal shield and armor this suit can effectively stack damage, boast good armor, show a solid shield buffer and even speed tank. The mercenary does this at a much deserved faster movement speed in true matari fashion an able flanker but adaptable as all matari are in defense to their beloved republic.
These are assuming slot layouts stay the same but Amarr resistances would have to change because 10% resistance on 100 shield doesn't count for much. Thoughts and feedback from fellow heavies would be much appreciated but of course all are welcome to comment.

Yes fluxes will mess up cal sentinels but they will excel at long range fighting,(keeping out of cqc) forge gunning will be the premier use or a heavy rail weapon when it comes. Ok I get EVE tanking style is determined by slots but you have to remember Sentinels get most of their total HP from base stats, at max these suits can only tag on an extra 300-500 HP. Looking at the numbers all the sentinels are really close in base stats I am proposing this for diversity's sake. If I'm a gallentte and I see almost 500 shield I see it as a waste, if I'm a caldari and I see 500 armor I also see a waste. Amarr has always been the heavily plated guys in EVE so this dual tank thing just seems off. Not to mention right now the min sentinel seems vastly up but in this set up all total HP is the same except he flourishes in his own adaptability compared to the other suits which are closely geared toward their tank style. |

Usually a ship will only tank with either its shields or armor. Tanking with both duplicates modules such as repairers hence wasting slots, and is therefore rarely done. Tanking with hull is uncommon because hull repairers have low repair rates and tanking on structure leaves little room for error. Again just to reiterate usually a ship will only tank with either its shields or armor. |

Armor to shield ratio is more affected by modules on medium and light frames than on heavy frames. For example a complex plate on a scout doubles or triples total armor but on a 1.8 amarr sentinel 1 plate is only a 20% change. The point I'm trying to make is modules on eve can give large changes to base stats like on scouts but with heavies your passive life dictates your tank style. These suggestions are to appeal to every players tanking style on a heavy suit, if you want to armor tank go for Amarr or gal if you want to shield tank cal or min. You can dual tank in any of these scenarios but not to the degree that a race who's primary tank is shield or armor. In other words you can kind of armor tank a caldari but not as much as the other 3 races. I think it's rare for people in this game to go Min assualt looking to armor tank. People have an idea of their preferred tanking style and chose a race to fulfill this.
Example you can have a medium gal with 113 shield and 950 armor, roughly a 1:9 ratio but on a gal sentinel you can barely get a 2:5 ratio 488 shield to 1256 armor. In quick summary I just want the ratios to be more in line and not so dual tanked, I think it's important to be able to dual tank (min sentinel) but I shouldn't be forced to either. |

Trust me 200 armor is not enough to run away (the gap between proposed stats and my own) I'd rather have my cal sentinel have 60 HP regen and 1000 HP shield buffer to get the shields faster and if your so inclined you can hit 400 armor with a plate but getting an extra 200 shield requires 3 hi slots but then your regen suffers. 656 shield the most you can tank is 944 but with base regen littleraly taking half a min to regen. Imagine 1050shield in about 17 seconds. |
