To say otherwise would be your error. We also took and held the city of Detroit. Was there an extremly large contingent of British troops and natives. Absolutly. Still happened tho! Just like yes...you won your independance from the Brits..BUT..that never would have happened if the French did not side with you. Was their navy that kept British reinforcements from coming. I love history, and its amazing the different versions are told. Glad were all allies now tho! At the very least they didn't hold their "Canadian" heritage so highly that they would do anything to jeopardize their relationship with their mother country.
