Only half way decent AV is tanks. Forge guns and maybe a drop ship can be used in conjunction with rail tanks, but without your own rail tanks, it isn't going to work. Jihad Jeep gets points for comedy factor though. ++ |

Let me tell you the easiest way to take out 1-2 tanks, or at least scare the **** out of them.
Buy a sica, put on two damage mods, make sure a railgun is attached, find a nice spot in the hills and blast them off the map. It works 70% of the time until you face another very skilled railgunner. |

Proxy mines work fine too as long as the lag doesn't cause them to explode after the tank has rolled by. Just drop 10+ in a likely tank path and forget.

This. The best counter to another counter is another tank. Using 2 or more infantry AV to take out a single HAV is nonsensical in an engagement where your numbers are limited. Tanks can also kill infantry as well as other tanks, and you can recall them when no longer needed or if they are just about to die - plus they are cheaper, more efficient and more durable. |

Just FYI, if anyone shoots at the REs, and a red detonates them early, they'll do damage to your tank. It's usually not worth it to risk a tank.
I'm pretty excited by the possibility of stacking damage mods on my Caldari Heavy (1.8).

My jj fit costs about 8k isk. Basic min logi, no mods, toxin smg bpo, 2 basic remotes, 1 blood raider lav bpo. I think I can afford the 8 k
Only time it costs more is including a militia scanner (since tanks are cloaked somehow most of the time) and a militia fuel injector for some extra speed. Don't think that will break the bank

In my experience rail tanks just sit on a hill sniping vehicles near spawn points. In other words they are worse than snipers.

The anti-infantry capacity of forge guns was really nerfed once the splash and charge up time was changed, nowhere near the anti-infantry capacity of either type of tank (blaster or rail). Also, dropships are not a game changing threat, and at the moment are easy pickings. Having AV get to places vehicles cannot is irrelevant... they can get indoors... but what use is your AV indoors. Vehicles are the best AV by far, faster, more durable, cheaper, more efficient, etc.
I eagerly await the next patch to see what CCP are going to do about this problematic game mechanic. |
