A big concern for Triple SP Week was that the multiplier for play wasn't high enough and it significantly increased the amount of time spent playing if you wanted the benefits.
It seems as though we've backtracked to that in a way with this event with 500 additional SP for every kill with an HMG/Forge Gun and 250 additional SP for a heavy kill. Now, apart from having a notepad handy with a leaf chart showing Kills and Confirmed Heavy Kills, it seems the amount of time investment necessary is MUCH higher than one would see than previous events.
To give an idea of what that's like for everyone, that's 3000 heavy kills with anything besides light weaponry, 1,500 kills with heavy weapons or 1,000 heavy kills with heavy weapons
This is something that is going to take a -very- long time. Eight kills with heavy weaponry a game (spitball average) that's about 190 matches. That's 48 hours of Ambush matches spread out over two weeks, which is a lot to ask out of a gamer. There are pros as the player activity goes up and certain behavior is encouraged but we also have to consider the cons which include burn out and a lot of the game's overarching issues become more apparent.
Another thing is that it's focusing on a particular specialization that not everyone uses, so it's either drop some SP into Heavies to run them (there are no militia HMGs afterall) as a jumpstart to a larger investment or grind out the 3000 kills otherwise which is an exceptionally long time when you consider that not all of the players on the other team are going to be running heavies.
TL;DR - Bonus SP is great but this shouldn't turn Dust 514 into a second job. Or third, if you play Eve Online. Too much time for too little reward. I think 500SP per heavy kill is reasonable, but the 750,000SP cap is too high (and so was 500,000+250,000, which is what it used to be before they got rid of the vehicle kill bonus). 1500 kills with heavy is very grindy. I think 400,000WP or 800 kills would have been more reasonable. |

1) Yes it will take 1500 kills with heavy weapons to hit the cap (do note you have an error, killing a heavy with a heavy weapon is not combined 500 SP + 250 SP, it is just 500 SP), but you have two weeks to do this keep in mind.
2) You do not have to hit this event cap to benefit from it.
3) Let's say you get 10 HMG kills per match, that is 5000 SP extra per match. That is almost like a pure double SP event.
4) The potential SP possible from this event is 750k. Divide that over two weeks, it is 375k SP per week. If you cap the event, that is like two straight weeks of triple SP.
5) You only need to average 107 kills per day to cap the event
There's a few things to complain about this event, like the only viable heavy weapon to hit the cap is the HMG and general lack of heavy weapons and dropsuits, but I don't see any way you can complain about how they are handling the SP. In the past we've had double SP events but it'd only double your WP, so if you averaged 1000 WP a match you'd only get 1000 bonus SP. With this event if you average 10 kills you get 5000 bonus SP. I don't see how this is a step backwards. 1) Yes it will take 1500 kills with heavy weapons to hit the cap (do note you have an error, killing a heavy with a heavy weapon is not combined 500 SP + 250 SP, it is just 500 SP), but you have two weeks to do this keep in mind. ^ Source? Why wouldn't it count..? Does count:
