1. A lot of people like this event 2. I see a lot of scouts including myself having a riot 3. HMGs are not OP, a good scout can run through the HMGs fire and round a corner to survive
Tips
Use walls and cover (open ground is bad and chances are you will die) Remotes are a scouts best friend Best way to avoid death when under HMG fire is to run and jump (running adds height and distanceand should get you behind that wall) Peek round corners, if it looks like a death-trap, it probably is, the speed of a scout can usually get you out depending on your reaction speed If your sticking armour plates on a scout go with reactive to give you an armour rep, this also provides you with a short addition to armour, without losing too much in way of movement penalty 1% for enhanced and complex Presision dampeners helps you conceal your exact location while enhancers help detect the exact position of enemy movements while amplifiers will increase the range of your scan radius

we can fix this by having ccp pick certain ppl for the event like go through have every pro heave sighn on a registry then ccp goes through and picks like 200 or 300 ppl not many but enogh amd then they put the names and have a cap on how many people can try to kill them like 2/3 so not all 16 ppl are going after one heavy |

To be honest scouts are probably what have killed me the most so far in this event. Scouts can put themselves at a huge advantage over heavies if you do it just right.
The only complaint I'd have about this event is it is pretty much exclusive to the HMG, since you're not going to get kills fast enough with the forge to hit the bonus cap of 1500 kills. An event like this could of really waited until we get a more complete set of heavy weapons. Hopefully they return to this event at that point, like they said they would return to the scout event sometime after 1.8 with all the scouts released.

Honestly never had a problem with heavies, or rather, my Nova Knives never had a problem with them... or my RE's. They were the fun to kill during the Shinobi event, though I haven't actually pulled out my scout for this event. Trying to get all that bonus SP and such. Just ditch that shotgun of yours, put on some RE's, put on a combat rifle and some Ishukone novas and go to town on the fat tubs of lard. You're a scout! Make everything bow to your mighty knives! ... unless you're using a Gallente scout, in which case RE's are your best friend, and range amplifiers, those are your friends too!
Sometimes I miss never seeing tanks in a battle... then I remember the mystical flying soma, and I can't help but smile.

I've gone Min Scout vs Heavy and won. It's even easier now during this event as most heavies are on bottom end. In my honest opinion, try flanking and/or sneaking up on opponents instead of running straight at them if you're using a Scout suit.

^ OP, your main complaint it seems, is that the game too unpolished for this kind of event, yet that is the reason CCP run them..
On to the practical matter of killing them fat bastards - well a lot of advice has even given already (REs are my personal fav...Shottys are nice against all the MLT/STD...)
The only other tactic I've got to offer is taking advantage of the HMGs spin up time/relatively low Heavy regen rate ( especially compared to a scout) and cover - Use something like a ScP, ScR, possibly SMG or AR - I guess CR would work but I've never really used them. Peek out of cover (use your scoutdar to pick the most advantageous moments) take shots - and the moment you even notice their weapon firing, pop back in, wait for the firing to stop for a second, recover your shields at least, and repeat.
A flux at the beginning can help speed up the process. I guess a scout using their radar carefully, could use a RR for this (timing the spool up time to match coming out of cover), but if you are using RR, you can just engage from 70m or whatever.
Saying all that, outside of data collecting, I do think they could do better then class specific ones... I never felt hunted down during scout event, I just killed a lot of scout tourists - if I was interested in using NKs I would have already...
You probably don't know me. But next time you get gunned down or exploded by a Valor scout...check the name.

They buy Aurum Sentinels and Aurum HMGs to get up to 750,000 SP and then perhaps realize they like buying gear with Aurum then CCP makes more money.
Let's look at this, 750k SP over the course of two weeks. That is 375k more SP per week. That is like running a x3 booster for two weeks. So during this event would your rather spend Aurum on boosters or on Sentinels/HMGs if you don't have them unlocked already? This gets people used to buying gear with Aurum and then maybe in the future they continue to do so.

This game was already hard enough for scouts, but I simply cannot deal with the shear volume of heavies. I just can't kill anything. I may get close, but then a heavy steps in the way and absorbs all the bullets and wipes me out.
That LMG... I don't want to complain about it being OP, because that isn't the way to go, but as a scout I sure as hell don't have hit points, all I have is my speed, and even with ComKats, Com Shield Extenders, and Enhanced Armor plates I just cannot get away. They fire deal too much dps for my speed/small amount of HP. I just cannot get away from that HMG, even at a pretty decent distance it still wipes me out. It's just so accurate. What is my role as a scout if not to get in fast, disrupt the objective and get out? The heavy is designed to storm and hold objectives, so that makes things difficult for me, and now there's so many that I can't do anything with any objective. I try to take cover but I just can't make it in time. I try to stay in cover and never reveal myself, but that just means when I run into a heavy I'm face to face with them. I may be close to getting into safe cover, but then I get stuck on invisible debris, or just can't make it up that hill that my grandma could walk up. I try to move with my squad, but then I get wiped out because I'm not a heavy, lol.
My problem isn't entirely with the HMG, I was just venting a little, my point is the game isn't finished enough to be pushing events and playstyles like this. I can make it behind a wall and still get wrecked because the scouts hit box lags behind them. I can sneak up on a heavy and plow away at him with my Ishukone Nova Knifes, charged, and do zero damage because all I get are blue shields because this glitch has still not been fixed. But of course he still gets tipped off that an attack came from that direction so then, they turn around and blow me away.
I know I am not supposed to go toe to toe with them, and I try not too, but I have to fight eventually if I want to get anything done. In the past two weeks I managed to raise my KDR by .08, but since this event it's already fallen by .03. I simply cannot deal with all of these heavies and this event has seriously made this game unplayable for me, and this upsets me.
Dude we're scouts, we just have to deal with it until 1.8 comes out when we'll be wrecking everybody...just wait... you'll have your revenge XD

We should have Mauler Round 2 when 1.8 drops. You know. So all the racial heavies can participate. (Not even I would hold my breath for racial heavy weapons.)
That is the reason the Commando event was delayed, after all. So 1.8 could land and we could have a Commando event with all the racial Commandos? (Hint: That's the reason.)

Ambush aim at those people don't track and acquire aim. Meaning move your crosshairs to the spot they are about to move to and get ready to ambush fire as he enters your crosshairs.... Then track the target until they die or rinse repeat.
Trying to spray and acquire your aim and tracking the target wont work against someone that doesn't need to stand still to Aim... With the HMG at least... |

I have no idea what kinda data they would get from the event or how they'd use it, I do know that many players won't touch a certain weapon again after trying it and finding it lacking, they could just want a larger sample size on HMG users, or see how well medium suits cope with a large increase in heavy suits being run. |

As for my tips, here is a simple seven step guide to killing heavies:
Step 1. Plant a remote explosive, preferably behind a corner where a potential client can not see it until its too late. Step 2. Locate a potential client. In this case, a big burly heavy Step 3. Scratch his back to gain his attention, preferably fire a single shot in their body region. They're fat so it shouldn't be hard to hit Step 4. Lure the heavy behind the corner where you placed your remote explosives in Step 5. Equip your explosives and detonate when the heavy is right on the explosive Step 6. Watch the heavy's body disintegrate into DUST Step 7. Smile gleefully at your +50 points

I want to thank everyone who replied to this thread. To everyone who reccomended Nova Knives, as I said the blue shields glitch where you do no damage is what wrecks me. My Nova knife specialization is at 3, which I regret speccing into at this point in the game.
But it seems the general concensus is to use remote mines/shotgun. This kind of sucks because there should be more ways to play besides this. Having one role should not force you into one playstyle but I have to remember that dust is not so much about 'skill' as it is 'experience', so you have to just use what items you have to beat what they have. Paper, rock, scissors.
I'll pick up some remote mines and see how it goes. Are the basic ones fine? |

The scout event was also a bit random (Shinobi). The idea behind both of these events is to gather more info on the relative efficacy of Heavies/Scouts vs. Other suits ahead of releasing all the heavies and scouts I imagine. There's definitely a lot of "noob" usage of both suit types for both events, but that's intended I imagine. The average "new" player is most likely in a medium suit of some kind normally on account of the starter fits being medium, etc. So, more newbies in the other suit types probably evens out the curve somewhat.
The days of super-scout speed tanking have passed too I think (since current speed limits are apparently engine limitations), and they're in the midst of balancing the hp of the current scout paradigm against the concept of new heavies, new scouts, and adjusted weapon damage on their end. That said, it makes my heart go out to the apparently will-be gimped Amarr scouts that'll be assault-speed.
Dren and Templar equipment stats, wrong since release.
