As a loyal supporter of this game, I have purchased many different items including the Elite Pack that included the Dren BPOs and the Eve Collector's Box that included the Templar BPOs. I have noticed that many BPOs items have the wrong fitting costs. As per the description, all the BPO's are Basic level 1 gear, but many items have militia fitting costs.
Was this a mistake? Was it intentional? If it is a mistake, why can't it be corrected?
I know there are many other threads like this one when I was searching, but no one from CCP has commented on this. I even submitted a ticket about this with no response!!!

I'm afraid I don't have a link, but this was a big question a while back.
CCP has said this is by design, and aren't going to be changing it.
As much as I hate to be a conspiracy theorist, I think it's more likely it was an error, but that CCP wants to do anything they can to minimise the effects of BPOs.

No, they basically lied to us about it.
Every single pack-in BPO, every one, has the stats of standard gear. The only exception is 2 pistols and a swarm launcher.

I want the pistol to get the correct stats so I can start using. The militia fitting cost for the pistol is horrible!

I can't use the Templar Scrambler Pistol on several load outs because it's just a bit over the fitting I have available. If it had STD fitting reqs like the rest of the Templar set, instead of MLT, I could use it a lot more.

All templar gear is meta level 3, so their stats don't have to be identical to standard gear -- indeed they shouldn't be. Overall, their stats should, however, be pretty much the same, but with some minor advantage -- just like the drop uplink and laser rifle.
This is assuming that meta level actually means anything... |

The uplink has a very small spawn time reduction. I'm not aware of any difference in the laser.

This is assuming that meta level actually means anything... How is the uplink and laser riffle any different? 5% shorter spawn time and ~5% lower cpu requirement, respectively. |

I submitted a ticket and their response is that all BPOs are working as intended.

These treads come up all the time.. CCP just needs to change the description in the BPO saying it has a higher then average fitting requirement so all these threads can finally stop!

Check my sig for more fun info. I try to bump it every once in awhile. I don't know that the CPM cares about the issue, particularly. Be nice if the CPM could get them to adjust it.
Also, you're not supposed to post/publish your communications with GMs, so you should probably remove that.
Dren and Templar equipment stats, wrong since release.

When I bought my car I made the purchase based on the car's specification (gas mileage, horsepower, etc). I would be mad if my car produced half the horsepower and used twice the amount of gas. Well, that is exactly the case with some of the BPO items. If it was CCP's intention to have those specs then it should be stated in the description! |

I worry that a little forum ruckus on this toipic might break the camel's back. I worry that CCP will just move up their timetable for complete BPO removal -just to silence/resolve a few minor discrepancies. New players will wrongly attribute vet success with unlimited ISK from free suits, and it will be a problem they want to 'solve' some day. I vote for newly available BPOs for all MLT and STD equipment. Why not?

Im in favor of mlt and basic bpo. If CCP removes my bpo though, I will quit playing. It is not a threat, just a fact.... Besides I dont think they care about threats..... |

I am not sure about the swarm launcher. It would be awesome if it does shoot 5 but I doubt it. I never really paid close attention. I will check later.
The three weapons in questions have STD combat stats (MLT weapons do for the most part actually). But most "combat" stats are the same between STD and MLT items to begin with.
This is why you'd think there was a data entry mistake of some sort to begin with. The fitting stats are MLT, but the reload times on the pistols are the same as STD. Aside from fitting, that's the only difference between the two tiers of pistols to begin with.
The Swarm Launcher is the same deal, it has the "combat stats" of STD Swarm Launcher, but the fitting of a MLT.
The reason the sale of these BPOs was so deceptive is because all the prior releases had been STD items, they didn't publish the stats, and the items in question were specifically things that hadn't been previously released in a non-MLT variant.
If you'd been playing Dust for awhile, you already had an opportunity to buy a MLT Scrambler Pistol BPO, you also probably already had free ones on your starter fits. The Swarm Launcher is another case there... everyone already has a free infinite MLT one on their starter fits...
So, when these bundles were announced, you could see that the most expensive bundle of BPOs ($100) had a few select BPOs that hadn't seen a STD version released. The Caldari Assault, Minmatar Logi, Gallente Scout, Shotgun, and Assault Rifle had ALL already been released in one form or another. The Swarm Launcher and Pistol would be the first STD versions of those weapons released! Because all BPOs released in every merc pack previously would've been of the STD flavor of course.
This is a conflicted decision, because a $100 is a lot of money. It's like you're buying 2 games at full retail to get a few items in Dust. If you'd been grabbing BPOs already, the Swarm and Pistol would be some of the larger draw there as well. So, you drop $100, and you find you just bought to MLT-fitting weapons when you thought you were ponying up for STD. WTF.
Thus began a months long process of trying to get answers from CCP which have varied from "As intended" to "Team Kong is looking into it" to "Standard in the description doesn't mean they're STD". Sort of reducing the sum total of elements in the complaints to an irrelevant single point.
So, yeah. It's obnoxious and people have been complaining about it since May.
Dren and Templar equipment stats, wrong since release.
