I don't know what to say about this new class of blueberries. They are even worst than the last. Just gripes about everything that beats them. In no way should you hold the title "mercenary" I don't play ambush all the time, but right now I'm trying to learn to ADS, and ambush is the only place without redline rails. Easy decision. I'm not "griping" about everything that beats me. I said this to you before, and I'll say it again: it's one thing to use teamwork to fight other people using teamwork. It's something else to bring your well-oiled team into a mode where you KNOW the enemy isn't going to be nearly as well-organized as you. Even a well-organized team of randoms, say, two squad-finder squads with full comms, is going to get wrecked by a queue-synced corporate team, in part due to worse gear and the fact that they've never played as a full team together before. It's like Einstein signing up for Physics 101 and then gloating when he's at the top of the class and calling everyone else worthless idiots. As a console FPS, and especially as a F2P console FPS, this game will ALWAYS have the full gamut of skill levels. To be a successful game, it should be fun for everyone, not just your elite corporate squads. The low-skill players, who may be new to FPS games or video games entirely, should have a place where they can play and have fun. That is only possible when each match contains people of these various skill levels on both sides. This is the idea behind public contracts, which is why I have such contempt for people who queue-sync it. Queue-syncing isn't a part of the game by design, which is why it's never mentioned anywhere in-game whatsoever. It's a mechanics exploit used to create teams that are guaranteed to be imbalanced. You really posted two paragraphs to explain why you are mad that people play with each other in groups and you don't like it? What are you, 14? Charming. I didn't make this post just to b*tch, and honestly, I personally enjoy fighting a queue-synced team, it makes my kills more satisfying. I posted because I want this game to thrive and grow, and when this is the sort of thing that new players have deal with after two academy matches, an hour after starting up Dust for the very first time, they quit. I don't want them to quit, but I can't directly convince them to tough it out, so I want the things that make them want to quit to stop. It's that simple.
So you enjoy fighting against a queue synced team now because the kills are satisfying but you figure because of the team orientation, it can cause new players to run away?
Then they never had the makings of a mercenary to begin with. Using the "new player" as a excuse to speak on things that really aren't worth mentioning (especially when there are more important topics) is a time waster.
Dust 514 is built on the social. It enhances the experience.
And no, you can't convince them. It takes the player to have that will. We mercenaries, who have gotten anywhere from 5 million SP to 30, can attest to that. The majority of folks got their butts handed to them in the beginning. Its a rite of passage. Team sync shouldn't be stopped just to keep new players around. We would hope that mature and positive perspectives prevail and the mercenary doesn't quit because a team had q sync squads in match. If anything, it should be telling the merc that there is power in numbers and lead him towards finding a active corp to join and fight with.

Im a fairly casual user, and i agree with the Original Poster; it does get ridiculous.
I get that some people are better. i get that some people prefer squad teamwork. I also understand that some people have put alot of SP and ISK into proto gear and would like to use it. I even understand that, some people got stomped all the way up the chain, so now, its their turn to stomp others.
I get all that, and it really doesnt bother me the motivations. What bothers me is that matches become unplayable. Everyone gets backed into a corner, tanks make sure we cant even spawn a jeep, and it becomes a matter of trying to not lose too much ISK worth of equipment till the match ends. It unplayable. There is nothing anyone on the team can really do. The infantry got proto suits with proto defense and guns that 3HK, and the tanks got 350,000ISK worth of modules on them. ..... Then the next game, im on the team thats got the other team locked in their spawn.
It would be one thing to have a really bad match like that every now and then, but its more often then not that its a complete wipe by one side. Ive been in matches where the teams are dead even, and its alot of fun. But even when im on the winning team, it still seems kind of pointless.
Yes, I could just go with "squad finder", but why should i have to? Almost all of them are "Mic required". Why do i have to talk to and hear squeaky voice teenagers just so i can play the game? Why do I have to work on someone elses "start next match" schedule?
My point here is that I dont have the time or desire to become "the best of the best". I just want to jump in and play a few matches in the little free time that I got. When its just unbalanced game after game, I turn off the game and go play something else. If it wasnt for all the unbalanced matches I would probably play Dust atleast 70% more than I do.
If people want to keep playing like that, I wont stop them; But all that SP, and ISK, and equipment and stats you farm up...wont really matter if the game dies. I cant get any of my friends to play more than a few matches on this before they get fed up and go play something more balanced. |

I can see where your HTFU mentality is coming from, but it's just too much. Sometimes, players need a little hand-holding, to convince them that there is absolutely anything at all in this game worth sticking around and joining a corp for. Once they've been convinced, they'll HTFU like you want them to and eventually become "mercenaries". A game with 3000 players on at any given time, with no increases over the last 6 months despite being freely available to anyone with a PS3, could clearly use some changes.
It may be hard to believe, but there's actually a middle ground between stomp or be stomped in public matches, and when the matchmaker gets it just right, this game truly shines, even for idiot blueberries fresh out of the academy. This cannot happen when people are syncing full teams into public contracts, which are meant to be the least serious game mode. I see no reason to perpetuate the hazing of new players just because we all had to start out getting stomped. "I suffered, so you should have to too" is a pretty childish mentality.
Also, this is the internet and I'll speak on whatever I want and use my time however I want. No one is making you spend your time reading my paragraphs, or responding with paragraphs of your own. |

Every generation of blueberry so far has had larger general SP/ISK defecit to deal with maybe?
Surely a greater percentage of the population has access to more advanced gear, ISK (thanks to Farming), in an established corp, knows maps/exploits/mechanics better than when you started?
Unless you are saying when pros reach a certain level they just never get better and progression in this game is linear and finite in all respects?
You probably don't know me. But next time you get gunned down or exploded by a Valor scout...check the name.

Yeah after playing Dust for about a month, I can see this. I was a huge Halo 3 player, and I was ranked high back in the day. In Dust I tend to do well even in militia gear, but its always kinda a kick in the face when you die to someone who wouldn't have killed you if you had the same level of gear.

Lol at people like this. Stacked teams are stacked teams, there should be some mitigation of this. If you want to run a team filled with proto players then you should face a team of close to equal SP. There are a ton of ways to do matchmaking with the amount of player data, I really don't see the issue CCP continues to have. You have a K/D ratio, and SP, you should be able to extrapolate user skill level from this and then pair users of equal skill and SP level with each other.
