Working as intended. A scout, certainly, don't remember if gal or min. But even assuming it's a min scout, 900 damage in 0.1 seconds (or something) seems rather a lot. The suit bonus is only +25% at level 5. Charge swipe, ishukone nova knives. You're looking at 550 per swipe if he charged them, and swipes come in doubles - each charge attack or trigger tap you swipe twice. Okay, fair enough. I'm not QQing, just genuinely didn't know that NKs could do that. It's a bit surprising that this isn't more of a 'thing'. Seems like it could be very powerful in the right hands but it's one of the few things I've never heard QQ about (and to repeat, I'm not QQing here!).
I know this mInja named Ghost Kaiser, he absolutely destroys with NK in pubs because he does so much damage with proto ones he can kill most suits without charging. He also has a sprint speed of almost 10m/s. I've seen him get scores like 20/1 all day long |

@CCP: Is the Cloaking Fields and Profile Dampeners reduction to Scan Profile stacking penalized when added together?

I think in many ways the event not only increased the number, but also gave others a chance for others to learn how to look out for, and counteract knifers.
An aware red is much harder to atack :/ Also the passive scan buff probably helped. Will be interesting to see if the cloak is enough to push scouts fully into the mainstream.
I think the cloak will be one factor, but there are other factors that might come into play more. Like the adjustments to the other suits, and the supposed/hopeful increase in TTK.
If the increase in TTK is enough for scouts to run away instead of instant death, it will help, but if we still die so quickly that we don't have enough time to react, I can see shield and armor tanking meds and heavys take back their portion of the role share.
Looking for the scout hangout? CCP banished it to the locker room

Is this a viral commercial of NK?
Yes, he hit you with doubly charged advanced or proto knives and he did see you on passive, so you have your answer.
PLC, NK, Scout - before 1.8.
That's right, I stack that OP Sh!t.

ive got a alt that is a Minja with proto knives. I can instakill heavys with a charged hit. I usually do it when they turned their back to me or from the side. The key to play as a scout is to never engage a enemy upfront. Simply cause they have much more HP and probs deal aswell more damage then you.
I shall show you a world, a world which you cant imagine, a world full off butthurt n00bs at the other end of my gun

In the right hands they're incredibly deadly. Check this excellent video out by Cyrius Li-Moody.

And that is the absolute beauty of the the knives. In the hands of a novice, they are absolutely useless and often times these people end up being mulch by the assault rifle users. But in the hands of an experienced professional who has dedicated every SP into using these weapons as well as practicing rigorously all year, these nova knives become the most feared weapons on the battlefield.
The experienced professional using these knives eventually become known throughout the course of the match as people start noticing the following in their kill feed...
Ninja Knifer (Ishukone Nova Knives) SomePoorFella Ninja Knifer (Ishukone Nova Knives) Fillet-a-Merc Ninja Knifer (Ishukone Nova Knives) HeavySuitDown Ninja Knifer (Ishukone Nova Knives) ScaredShitless Ninja Knifer (Ishukone Nova Knives) RunningAway Ninja Knifer (Ishukone Nova Knives) PeedMyself Ninja Knifer (Ishukone Nova Knives) NOOO NotTheFace Ninja Knifer (Ishukone Nova Knives) PLZ HaveMercy
At that point, you could become singled out from the rest and as a result the opposing team starts to hunt you down to get rid of you. That's when you know you did your job well.
There was one heavy suit user who complained early last year about the knives being overpowered but funny enough all the other heavy suit users (who were NK victims) stepped in and actually supported the NK users because even the heavy users agree that if you get killed by a NK it's because that person was a professional and knew how to bring a knife to a gunfight.

If you want to become a knife user try a MLT light and shotgun combo with MLT Dampeners
It is a bit of a smoother way to understand CQC scouting and all the skills bar knives apply. Also it probably is best to up skill the passive scan skills before attempting to be a minja. I'm just a scout with a shotgun and REs and if I do scan the nova I have a fifty fifty chance. Generally I just back pedal and pull out an SMG. I did on the weekend jump off a building to land right beside him and feed the guy a shotgun but a) I didn't know he had knives at the time and b) I'm an idiot as I could have just dropped a RE instead, but where is the fun in that. |

Tried NK on my scout but could never quite get the hang of it. I'll stick to shotty thanks.
Prior to running scout I was pure Heavy and while suddenly dying comes as a surprise. When I see it was knives my response was always "oh, fair enough, good for them, well done." Also scouts suffered terribly to hit detection issues.
I recall while forge gunning from a tower hearing the knife swish behind me as an embarassed looking scout plopped down infront of me (I guess he jumped/lunged and the momentum carried him forward). I would've seen a dropship, so he must've seen me up there, hiked over and climbed the considerably long ladder, hopeing no sniper would get him or that I'd happen to be looking that way. To go to all that effort to get one heavy, just to have your swipe do nothing and to get SMGd to death.
That was a surprisingly common occurance and I have a lot of respect for scouts who stuck with it. As a HMG user all through uprising I know they suffered even worse than I. |
