Maybe some people can be as dangerous on foot as they can in a tank, but most can't. And I count myself amongst "most". I get more kills and less deaths in a milita tank than I do in a prototype dropsuit costing three times as much. In the Soma I can kill infantry, LAVs, dropships and other tanks. In the proto suit I can only kill other infantry, and even then not as well as I can in the Soma. The only thing that stops me when I'm in that Soma is a better tank/tanker (not difficult tbh), and even in that case I don't lose more tanks than dropsuits. We complain about tanks because the most effective counter to a tank is another tank, and that makes for either bad gameplay or a second rate World of Tanks clone. RF Gyro: 12.5% damage bonus; 10.5% rate of fire bonus

I personally drive tanks because I want to do something different than in every single fps ever. I will often run on the ground as infantry and derp around with remote explosives and such (I don't give a s*** about mmy K/D ) The community is the worst thing that ever happened to this game. A lot are scrubs that have to hide in a tank to pad KDR or actually make Isk. There are a few though who are quite good on foot and in vehicles though. It's a trap! Some tankers are good players - those who were tanking in 1.6 and before, when it required skill. But the vast majority of tankers you see in pubs are bad players who didn't like going 5-12 with a rifle in their hand, so pressed the I-win button. When tanks get nerfed they'll either go back to being cannon fodder or be in the hills with a Thales.
