I just got destroyes by a remote explosive that was planted miles away from me. The guy planted it and I saw it land about two metres away from my LAV at which point I reversed at full speed. About 20 meters away it said I was blown up by a remote explosive. What is this!? |

maybe they setup behind you then tossed an RE in front to move you into position for an RE/PE patch. Very nasty and works wonders with at least 2 people going after you. This is relatively easy, and requires little more than 2 people with mics communicating. |

I often get them stuck on LAVs and detonate them when people drive off, or try to align to run me over.
It could be that your LAV had other RE that were stuck on it when you fled.
Sometime I will trap a LAV and wait for people to get in and go on their way before setting them off.

Welcome to DUST-514, where the RE's teleport and there is no escape.
Seriously, you see them landing somewhere but in reality they have placed elsewhere, far from the other location even many meters.
If you are an hacker, a cheater o a glitcher, you deserve death. In real life.

This may have been the case. It was only one guy and I was driving toward him when I saw him switch his weapon out. I stopped instantly and reversed but he must have stuck one to me. I did clearly see it land about 2 meters away though, but I guess that's a latency issue... |

I am kinda a demolitions specialist  When it's RE most often it's the ones you don't see get deployed.
Sometimes I throw them obviously just to get people to back into the one they did not see me throw down 
Though it could be Latency, never rule that out in Dust, or online games.

I've never heard of anyone placing their RE's in a way so that they're not all within a meter of each other. I've certainly never imagined placing an RE 'many meters' away from another in a plan to get someone to back up into them.
