Obviously there are some things that will in fact have an affect no matter what but things like this? Only affects their minds when you don't do a good job of teaching. Except the point is Dust will still be here after the next latest game has turned out to be the previous version of the game just with a slightly new skin. And the next, and the next. And all the time it will be improving. It didn't take 10 years for EVE to become a good game. It was good pretty early on, my point was it keeps getting better and as Dust follows the development philosophy that EVE does, I see that will likely be the same here. DUST has the same advantage as you say EVE had, sure at it's most basic form it's another FPS, but it's not just that. Most FPS games will end up bringing out the same thing year after year, tweaking a little, maybe improving the graphics and claiming they're doing something revolutionary. Dust is doing something revolutionary. It's a persistent world MMOFPS/RPG with ties to a PC MMORPG. It's the first time that has been attempted as far as I know. It's going to take a little more time to do that than create a 'new' FPS game. Yes, they rushed it out, it should have had at least another year imo in-house before release, maybe more. It plays almost the exact same as it did at launch, with the key difference being that its nearly impossible to succeed as a solo speed tanked pvp'r anymore. The only things that ever change with the game are number differences. The only two legit content expansions as far as im concerned were Apocrypha and Incursion. The only major graphical facelift was Trinity. Everything inbetween was filler with small tidbits of content. With Dust, the game isn't going to change. Vehicles will be vehicles, guns will be guns, dropsuits will be dropsuits. They will add new stuff in those directions slowly, but the game will never change. Just like Eve has never changed. And I hate to break it to you, but EVE became good because it was a good game to begin with that simply lacked content. Dust happens to be a bad game at its core, and no amount of content over time will ever save it from that. For Dust to be good it would have to have a completely different engine with a completely different netcode with completely different movement speeds and TTK. That isn't going to happen.
