I find that having a good passive scan is really helpful for troll REs (my favorite). I don't really use them on the objectives because smart players look around first. It's simple, really.

Easy kills if they start hacking. No idea on my guns right now. Getting majority to level 3 at least, then deciding. Proud member of RND

They won't see them. Putting them at the side of doorways is good against zerg rushers. You can also use 1 RE to bait players thinking they're safe since you detonated them early and then you can plant another one quickly or use shotgun for ambush (I do this sometimes). You can also throw them from high places and detonate once they're active.

Red with LAV jumps out to hack an objective, I NK him, and place an RE on the drivers side, leaving the LAV red as bait. A little while later, I am attempting to hack a turret, when I see a red LAV with a blue square trying to murder taxi me, needless to say he was unsuccessful. Yesterday, I was on top of a roof by an objective, watching a red hack a blue LAV with a friendly red near by. I knew I couldn't really take them both out (my skills are not high calibur) so I threw a couple REs next to the LAV, and blew them right when the red drove by. Happy hunting. Looking for the scout hangout? CCP banished it to the locker room

They shoot the obvious one and trigger the next two which get them. With a logi you can booby trap your own uplinks and/or nanohives. Squat place RE, place uplink. Once you get used to REs and how nasty they are you will find it hard not to flux every objective before hacking.

Also,a current issue (bug?) is that they creep up the Null Canon (not the panels but canons themselves) unless placed in the correct placesGÇª but this makes them rather visible IMO.
