Prior to 1.7, when you chose a spawn point, you could see if there were reds around a CRU. So if it was being camped by half a dozen reds, you could choose a different spawn point.
CCP noticed that this made the job of the spawn camper that bit harder, so they buffed spawn camping. CRUs no longer have a vision radius, so you can't see if it's being camped. There is no way to avoid spawn camping, short of spawning back in your red line or not spawning at all.
I applaud CCP's robust support for the noble spawn camper, but don't think they've gone far enough. For maximal spawn camping enjoyment, I suggest that CCP make campers not just invisible to the CRU, but also invisible to any unfortunate souls that spawn there. Invisibility for hostile units within 5 metres of a hostile CRU should do the job. This way, even the most incompetent spawn camper will easily be able to kill anybody brave or stupid enough to actually try to play the game.
Either that or they could try to make the game better, rather than worse, with each update. CRU and objective vision should be restored, at least for units on the spawn map. |

you can still tell.
wait for a blue to spawn on said CRU, watch his curser and if it instantly disapears then its being camped!
also as a span camper you can actually hear when people spawn so dont think you can be sneaky becuase they know youve spawned and are prepaired. |

I don't play ambush, and 99% of the time I spawn in my own redline to avoid insta-dieing. I've accepted spawn camping as part of the game and am even guilty of doing it myself. There needs to be some risk to spawning in whatever convenient location you desire. Just don't be like most people who keep spawning over and over just repeatedly losing their team clones. Move on and while ten reds are camping that spawn point, hack an objective or two.

Move on and while ten reds are camping that spawn point, hack an objective or two. I'm a pretty good player, I know not to go back to a camped CRU. But my point is that even one CHEAP death is too much. I don't mind getting outnumbered, outmanoeuvred or even plain outgungamed - it happens from time to time. What I ******* hate are all the deaths due to playstyles that involve virtually zero risk or skill, e.g.:
- Spawn camping - Redline sniping - Tanking - Large rail turret sniping - Tower forging - Reviving into line of fire
All these 'playstyles' make the game less enjoyable for the typical run and game FPS player. The more prominent these playstyles become, the less playable the game becomes. A new player that keeps dying to invincible tanks or snipers on the other side of the map - things he can't even shoot back at - is much less likely to stick to the game.
The ridiculous thing is that, time and time again, CCP has left these cheap playstyles untouched, or even buffed them. Look at 1.7. Redline snipers, large rail turret snipers, tower forgers, and revive-killers were all left as they were, and spawn camping and tanking got these crazy buffs. And CCP wonder why they have a tiny playerbase.
There is a place for all of the above - even spawn camping. But they should not the be the no-brainer they presently are from a risk-reward perspective. Snipers should be on the battlefield, not by the MCC. Tankers should fear AV. And spawn campers should know that if someone's coming in, they're probably equipped for CQC and not alone... |

Yes, I think they could do it differently apart from just showing nearby reds, but by having it flash or have some kind of warning message popping up saying "Danger: this CRU is under threat , spawning here may result in instant death!" - or something along those lines to help new players understand that if they spawn, they shouldn't be surprised if they die very quickly.. |

I can see not putting a scan radius on uplinks, because it's in keeping with the high risk high reward mechanic of the item. They are also small/portable so it makes sense you couldn't build it in.
But CRU's are hard points built into an installation, they should have that type of functionality. What military contractor would design a huge frontline troop entry point that lacks basic detection equipment? Not even a motion detector? There's no logic to it.

Usually call it out on comms when I see a camped point. Then I go back in there atleast once with a HMG to "TAKE SOME OF THOSE F*****S OUT". Usually get atleast one. Really hate f****** spawncampers. Will even try to prevent teammates from doing it by hacking or killing the uplink.
Great job, team. Head back to the MCC for debriefing and cocktails.

I've started doing this recently.
I don't play ambush (I'm not sure why anyone would if they know they are going to online for more than 30mins...), but if you solo skirmish, you find yourself dropping into matches halfway through or more (if you are really lucky you get to hear that your MCC was destroyed and get left hanging on the loading screen) - anyway, sometimes you find all the letters are red and there Is one lowly blue CRU/uplink next to Delta or whatever.
Now at this point you ask yourself - has a brave comrade just now risked their lives to get some sort of foothold in this location, will giving them back up save their lives and help the team take an objective? Did they manage to hack this point because its the least defended and best to try and hit?
Watching one blue dot dissapear doesn't answer the question, you have to wait for a few and see if (proto) blasters and HMG line the killfeed.
You probably don't know me. But next time you get gunned down or exploded by a Valor scout...check the name.
