It's mainly solo defending a letter - especially when they have a CRU and uplinks. You end up running around in circles killing reds as they appear. Take on average 2 shots to kill in optimal range, factor in some misses and firing just out of range to finish off that last 50hp and you are out ammo quick when soloing a squad...
You probably don't know me. But next time you get gunned down or exploded by a Valor scout...check the name.

The decreased dispersion that comes with proficiency is your renge buff, a tighter spread means more of the shot hits from farther away. You want increased spread while gaining range...LOL no. Get close or use a different gun
Most tankers are like sand people. They frighten easily, but will quickly return...and in greater numbers.

Increased spread seems like it would be worse for the Shotgun, not better. That just means that more pellets would miss the intended target.
Any Shotgun experts feel free to correct me, as we all know how CCP has.......unrealistic mechanics.
