Rasatsu wrote:Not to dismiss you as completely ignorant, it is however the case that Tetris and GTA V shares many common elements. This sounds like a thoroughly entertaining line of discussion. Please explain.
If possible, please explain EITHER how Tetris is a third-person open world crime simulator, OR how GTAV is a puzzle game (I suspect the latter argument is more likely). Since Duran's post was only claiming that the two games are of different genres, and not that they lack in similar or comparable features, this would be a reasonable request in order to make your thinly-veiled accusation of ignorance anything but a demonstration of your own failure at basic reading comprehension.
EDIT: I should probably mention that I"m actually legitimately curious about the comparison, I haven't played any GTA games since I got my PS3. |

You know has at least all basic content. The original which you can play nowThe remake being played by me last week in cosed beta Because Dust 514 is a FPS RPG grindfest where the newberries get thrown into the year old vets in tiny battlefields where PVE doesn't exist to alleviate the fun they aren't having. The players who stick it out learn quick that any given month CCP will nerf something causing their stuff to suck, like the minmitar assault, because of other abusive players using what CCP never play tested. It's a perfect storm of awful that I can't help but flagellate myself with just hoping it will get better. Just most people go, well I guess i'll just play another fps rpg that doesn't like to screw me over. Yes, there are other fps rpgs though they are mostly on the computer. Free to play even, just not as polished usually... and Korean... but hey at least those games have like a monster or zombie mode or something for PVE.
could you give out links to these so called korean FPS's

Quite often I find myself explaining ZERO based budgeting to my 15yr old. CCP may not be using ZBB, but they are using an expenditure model not too far from it. I admit to having spent more on this game than any other game, or game series; because I am patient and a self described "longterm investor" AKA Consolidated Dust.
So fill your weekly SP CAP, and then go play something fun, I prefer GT6-8.15 on 24hr NURBURG ring 494hp and still chasing the Germans...now that is some poop.
CCP i'll settle for the Caldari reload racial perk, but only if an increased reload time is your nerf for the RR |

Both Tribes Ascend and Mechwarrior online have been developed more poorly than Dust. However, that isn't saying much.
The problem with Dust is it's boring. For two main reasons:
1) The AR. Simply put, hitscan, high dps weapons at medium range have killed any tactical thought that was originally supposed to be the hallmark of Dust (well, that and integration into Eve which is nonexistent).
2) Lack of content - especially PVE.
Their poor and slow development cycle hasn't helped Dust either, but it isn't the worst. That being said, it seems that CCP doesn't know how to make the game interesting, or their development team has been cut down so much that development only happens at a snail's pace.

Aside from the slow dev cycle, how about when CCP throw away whole game modes that are better than what we have now? Commander mode was set for release back in 2013, only days away from being done according to the devs on the forum. Being able to call in bases from space, attacking the enemy base as the red lines move, having a purpose for high speed jets.
The reason renegade is so fun is you have to win by blowing up the enemy base. Dust should not be able k/d it should be war. Like it used to be... |

yeah that "boing" sound is classic. But it's kinda outdated seeing as it's not 2002 anymore and the graphics actully look great now. Hopefully they will replace it, dust has has a good headshot sound. I love it. |

I just want to be clear renegade X is not a mod. Is it a brand new game made in unreal 3 that is being released as a standalone free to play title. The mod project was scraped in 2006 |

It'll take some forum digging but I'll see what I can come with. They did fire 90% of the team working on dust. Just watch the 2012 fnfest dust videos on youtube. It's sad what they told CCP iceland they would have ready. They lied about where dust was and when it would be ready.
I'm sure Iceland is still recovering from that headache. Dust is an odd game... I've never seen producers being so out of touch with what the people making the game are doing... Like when stcky remote mines came into dust, no english speaking dev on these forums, to this day, has any idea how it got into the game or who made the change.
Be ready for more of this in future. Features will be released in dust that no blue tag will be able to account for. It's part of the fun, and madness that is playing dust514. |

you're a little confused. dust was developed on the carbon engine, and the carbon engine was too complex for the ps3 to run. if you're looking for more information watch the eve vegas dust 514 presentation.
the footage in 2012 was on the carbon engine, of course. it was developed for 5 years before being redeveloped for the ps3 and unreal engine. |

So they built a framework that was supposed to run on the PS3 without doing any actual testing to make sure the engine would actually work on the PS3 once serious development had begun. So they had a better game that they could have released for PC and continued developing awesome new features for on the engine they actually built, but instead decided to port everything to a very old engine for a very old console less then a year before the next gen console was release. This makes me angry.
We have this square peg, and this set of holes. It doesn't fit in the round hole, better get a hammer. Disregard that square hole over there.

Dude EA has had a hate affair with command and conquer lately the 3k playing are what is probably left of the thousands if not millions of CnC fans that once propelled CnC to rival Star Craft.
