My only problem with increasing clip size is I'm pretty sure the weapon model has a 6 round drum doesn't it? Kinda bothers my OCD if a 6 round mag fires 12 or what ever number it ends up with. Give it a new drum and I don't care lol. |

Maybe change it to clip size for projectiles and ammo capacity for MDs and Flaylocks.. But then the Flaylock community would be upset...

Nope, its actually 8 for all Mass Drivers, works well for the Assault variant.

But its not a six round drum. Go pull one out, you can count 8. Its basically for the Assault Variant, but more than one model was too much to ask for.

You see, it hurts the bottom line too much. Does too much damage to the pay players and they threaten to spend less on AUR. So the devs figured out how to move some numbers around without actually buffing anything. It's like with the rail rifle. Rather than balance it, ccp plans to nerf ALL rifles but still allow the rr to reign supreme because it sells the best.

I think the MD will be buffed. Question is, will it be nerfed afterward.

I wouldn't mind so much if that +5 went into explosive weapon ammo reserve instead...if we have to lose it from the clip.

No, we get a damage buff, the clip stays the same.. Its more the issue that half the Minny weapons (MD, Flaylock) won't be bonused by the Assault bonus, it would seem.

As a dedicated masshole, I'm very happy that they reconsider the Min Assault bonus!
A huge clip would get the MD nerfed again faster than you can empty said clip.
Constant explosive barrages are no fun, and the small amount of ammo in the clip is one of the major things that balance the MD.
The Min Assault should either get a rate of fire buff for explosive weapons (higher alpha damage), or a bigger ammo pool (the current amount of ammunition carried for the MD is very small).
Alternatively I would like to see a DIRECT damage increse, which would help in certain situations (defend doorways against incoming forces). This would also reward careful aligning of shots instead of spamming all over the place.

It will get buffed. Until I start using It more again. Then people will whine and it will get nerfed.
But as someone already stated with up to 13 rounds per clip it would be way to powerful. The small clip size does help balance it out. Especially in CQC. I do think it would be a better bonus to add a large ammo pool instead of clip size.

I think the expanded clipsize is cool, but really un-necessary

CCP said that was not all that the MD would be getting, there might be a buff to the clip also or ammo capacity or both.

I don't think the Mass Driver needs a damage buff, but it does need a ammo capacity + magazine buff.
It's really hard to kill a proto suit with 6 mass driver rounds, and it sucks that as a Logi i often have to hog hives to myself.
Base MD should be 8, Assault should be 10, and ammo capacity should be +12.

gun model aside, I think the total ammo count total needs an increase... if they buff damage enough, then maybe the extra clip size isn't necessarily warranted - it's a hard call to make. |

You are right and wrong at the same time...
The bigger clip wouldn't help against anyone with good gungame, since you would still go down before you get two shots on the target.
A bigger clip would however increase the spamming of the MD which is bad in any case!
If the MD needs anything, it's higher alpha damage if you can hit the target directly. But it needs the gaps in the barrage, to give opponents the possibillity of a counterattack.
Right now, I can 3-6 shot a medium suit, if i put loads of damage mods on an EXO-5. If the medium suit is tanked and keeps calm, he'll shoot me before that. If he's proto with proto weapon, I'm lucky if I get two rounds out before I die. So higher alpha is what the MD needs, and the buff to damage is a step in the right direction.
A bigger clip however is not, since it doesn't give higher alpha, nor helps with the pathetic amount of ammo the MD brings with it. To profit from a bigger clip, you need to stay in cover and blindly spam MD rounds, with a hive at your feet. If you want that go with a bigger clip!
