Jacques noticed the Gallentean accent immediately and gave steady a reply, " Steady I'll give them no quarter, but I can not guarantee my conduct on treating any unarmed raiders." Jacques then hoped on the dropship and begun reading a book on the four winds to calm him down.

Hearing the Gallente sounding woman notify the group of their upcoming deployment, Denak decided to hold off his intention of approaching the two Templars in private, he needed to do the final preparations. As the others skittered about to prepare as well, Denak gave the group a dismissive nod, gathering all his equipment for his current suit and loading it into the dropship.
Seeing his NeoCom notify him of a new message, Denak briefly set his hands away from loading his equipment to rest against his Cortex interface, displaying the message on his HUD. The reply made him smile slightly within his suit, typing up a quick reply after he finished loading the rest of his equipment, afterwards heading off into a more secluded area of the hangar:

-Denak Exploring the docking station a minute or two, Denak found an area not far from the dropship sitting idle, surrounded by cargo crates of various sizes and shapes, standing in the middle of it all. His finger trailed along the crates, his sensors scanning each one's contents until he discovered the correct one, labeled with his three slit symbol. Opening the crate, it contained only a small bag of his personal belongings, a special request he made along with his order.
Inside the bag was a small knife, a cup and a thermos bottle containing a warm, greenish liquid. Methodically, he began stripping off the gloves and helmet of his suit, revealing the pale and featureless face of a combat clone. Flexing his fingers upon being exposed, Denak muttered a few words in Intaki, pouring the ceramic cup full of the green liquid, dadayya tea. From that began his hour long ritual, remaining perfectly still on the floor surrounded by crates, letting the liquid he drank course through his body. If anyone were to discover him during his ritual, he wouldn't respond at all.
Five minutes before deployment, Denak instantly snapped from his trance-like trace, gazing down at the cup which was still half full of the steaming liquid. To finish his ritual, he took the knife which was sitting beside him, cutting a single vertical slice along the side of his hand, breaking the flawless skin and pouring blood into the cup. Exactly one minute before takeoff, Denak cleaned up his fresh wound, bundled his items back into the crate, dressed up and climbed into the dropship. Anyone inquiring of his whereabouts were met with dead silence or a dismissive: "I was away doing things."

we are an odd number squaded you may scout ahead alone if you wish, the rest of us will be hitting the base in pairs. please note if you are captured you will be on your own. The mission must come first, im not risking civilian life and the possibility of raiders using you a bait.
I trust you have the skill that this wont happen and request to use the first moments of the battle to uplink spam as much as possible

As Ermac spoke Kador felt a chill swiftly run down his spine. Of all the horrors he had seen the blooded corpses of the women and children were the worst....they looks so fragile in death. So small and lost. How anyone could commit such atrocities against them he did not know. However what saddened him more, through sheer pain of knowing was that their souls would never reach God's side.
" Please Ermac, Templar Ouryon wills suffice....however brother templar is right Ermac. We cannot save them all. Many will be beyond our help, many more still will be dead by the time our mission is done." The sorrow was evident in his voice, but the words told of a deeper necessity that was fire, violence, and the finality of death.
"But for every one we slay, we prevent a dozen more victims." The Temple Knight looked down at the younger Caldari, he supposed the man was angry, it would almost be inhuman not to be. "But never forget to exercise restraint. It may be a noble thing to slay them, to judge them unworthy and sentence death for their sins in life. But we should never forget that we hold to a righteous purpose....."
He trails off as another alert comes through from his NeoCom unit. He skims it briefly. I was what he had feared when he had looked upon his friends choice of dropsuit. This had somewhat been mitigated by the revelation of the visual dampening technology Denak possessed but it did little to ease his worries.
He tapped out a quick affirmative response.
True Adamance wrote: From: True Adamance To: Denak Kalamari, steadyhand amarr
Aye Denak, we have much to discuss.
He turned to Ermac.
"Watch your flanks out there. Shoot for the joints in their armour, under the arms, the thighs, and the neck. Shoot hard, don't stop and pray to God one doesn't get close enough to plunge a Blooding Knife in your flesh. Let me know if you need anything else."
He places a reassuring hand on Ermac's should, at the same time very careful not to pulp the clones shoulder with his grip, before moving off to talk with Denak and Steadyhand.

Denak could notice the worry Kador had when he moved for a discussion with himself and Steady. As soon as they were by the three of them, Denak spoke up:
"I had already discussed this with Steady through mails, you should have copies of it in your own inbox, but I do think I need to run this through with you as well. You've probably guessed the kind of tactics I am going to field from my choice of dropsuit, which contradict your own advise of staying with the group. Needless to say, in order for my dropsuit and my tactics to be effective, I need to be away from the group."
Denak paused briefly to press a few buttons on his Cortex interface, soon both Kador and Steady received detailed information of all his dropsuits, to give them a frame of reference. Standing in front of the two wearing Amarrian dropsuits made Denak look even smaller.
"I have been a clone soldier for over a year perfecting my art, and many more decades working for the Intaki Syndicate. You have seen what I can do in battle Kador, it should be all the proof you need to show I can handle myself, even when isolated from the group.
I know what the Blood Raiders can and will do, I have studied their habits and taken your advise to the heart. I will not let them capture me, I will kill myself before that."
Denak's voice had a heavier tone as he emphasized his tone, unusual from his commonly calm demeanor. He sounded very determined, almost aggressive, arguing for his position to the best of his ability. Denak didn't often show this side of himself.
For the first time, Denak showed a sign of affection by reaching over and placing a hand on Kador's shoulder. Wearing a helmet, he still looked cold and detached as always, but behind the visor, he had worry for Kador, just as much, or even more than he did for Denak.
"I understand your concern, it is a valid one. If all else fails, I trust you with having my back."
As Denak spoke, he placed a small device into Kador's palm, encapsulating it in his fist. It was a spare detonator for his remote explosive charges, designed to trigger any explosive Denak had, regardless of it being deployed or not. Using that device guaranteed there would be nothing left of Denak to be used by the Blood Raiders.
He definitely hoped that it wouldn't have to come to that, and despite being a clone, it was a heave burden to carry, one Denak only trusted Kador to have. Before long Denak stepped away, refixing his posture and resuming his calm tone of voice.
"You have the experience of fighting the Blood Raiders, so I ultimately leave the decision to you whether or not I will be operating solo, Steady already has his approval. Whichever choice it will be, I trust you make the correct one, I can adapt regardless."

As Jacques read his book he felt calmer. He began to remember his time in the mountains where he had found peace. Jacques grabbed a depleted uranium round from his magazine. He then put the round in his hand and crushed it. The round was now in five separate pieces. He then started marking his armor with the symbols of the four winds on his arms, his chest plate, and his neck. The markings were dark and barely noticeable on the black armor of the Sentinel ck.o. The markings were each different with their own representation. From there he then swore by the name of the wirykomi corporation that he would honor their name and make the State proud.

Ermac stands there and watches the heavily armored Templar leave. He touches the shoulder plate, where his big hand rested, and somehow does he remind him of his Captain back home, in the time when the riots got more common and everyone had at least one shift in the riot control squads.
He teached him a very important lesson after he wittnessed how a group of protesters almost beat one of the sec officers to death and Ermac wanted to let out some steam on that day by breaking one of the inmates who trash talked to much. His Captain noticed it and punched him into a bloody mess in the cell where the prisoners was still lying on the ground with his broken arm and the open wounds Ermac had inflicted to him.
"We are here to protect the people of this station! Sometimes do we have to protect them from themself! And sometimes do we need to protect them from us too! You have sworn to protect them you idiot even if they attack us, even if they kill us are they still the people of this station! I understand your rage but if you let the hate control you are you not better then a murderer or a psychopath!" He then threw him out of the active duty for 2 weeks and made him work in the offices during that time.
Ermac took this lesson to his heart, but it's a hard fight with his emotions, sometimes does he lose this war, and becoming a merc didn't help much in that aspect.
Still both of them are right, and it's getting closer to this "life changing" mission as both of the Templars stated. Ermac starts walking towards the dropship, feeling an ominous feeling of dread inside his guts and with one question in his head:" Why do I have the feeling that he thinks that im a young man? Seriously it's either that or he is far older than I think." |

As the information was passed through to his dropsuits heads up display Kador was shocked to find a number of changes to the standard Gallentean design. Increased personal dampening technologies had been included, not to mention the visual distortion field Denak was capable of producing at a moments notice.
We've never hunted with one like this, he considered with growing excitement, how can the raiders capture what they cannot see?
He felt something small, but weightly drop into the palm of his hand. A small device he recognised instantly. A remote detonator. He glanced up, surprised, unsure of its purpose
Kador held the small detonator in his hand with a certain reverence. Denak had place his safety, his being, and perhaps fate in his hands. It was an awesome responsibility and sign of deep trust. He ran his thumb over its smooth surface, thumbing the activation rune, or button he supposed the Intaki would have called it., before flipping the protective catch shut and placing it in the fabric pouch, just above the waist, of his tabard.
He also noted the Intaki had taken his experience to heart, and did not doubt his resolve and skill at arms.....only that he underestimated the capacity for cruelty of the men he was about to kill.
A reassuring hand clamped down on his should. Initially he considered pulling away, it was a sudden show of comradery that he had not typically expected to see in Denak's nature.
"I shall bear this burden with honour Denak." He said warmly. "Good luck and God be with you. I shall have you back as though you were a Brother Templar yourself."
He wasn't of course, but it mattered not. He had earned Kador's respect and friendship long before the operation as Steadyhand had during the Junip Crusade, the swift and brutal seizing of Arzad and surrounding systems from occupying Matari soldiers, both receiving in Memorandum medals of St Agelioth, and honour beyond honours.
For a moment he stood their, listening to Denak's proposal. Ultimately the decision would be his, or Steadyhand's perhaps with his endorsement. He looked at the Intaki who looked deceptively small, but was as tall, lithe with a mixture of regret and self loathing.
This was an opportunity for not just them, but the wider Empire as whole.
Could a singular man operate alone against Raiders, without the support of multiple operatives or support units? He hated himself for even considering what he was about to do, say, and by extent put Denak through.
It was ignoble, a betrayal of sorts, to put his friend at undue risk....against such monsters. He did not doubt the man's skill, but the possibilities burrowed into his mind. What would happen to his friend if he was too late. To slow. Unable to be there at the right time.
"You can do this?" He muttered, the hesitation and in his voice marred and subdued as a result of the dropsuits internal communications. To anyone else it would have sounded like an affirmation, but encased in that that reclusive spiritual chapel it was hollow. " Your capacity for covert actions is second to none my friend. I want to trust in you....as I want you to trust in me. I believe he can do this Steadyhand."
He shifted to a personal channel. "It is a chance for us Brother Templar, and chance for our people learn."
The final wave of shame washed over him, dousing that righteous fire that ran so deeply to his core. And in that moment, and the sounds of each man's ritualistic preparations met his ears, he considered himself damned.

Jaysyn stood quietly observing his fellow hunters and continually gauging and assessing them...habit long ingrained. He was more than passingly familiar with Blood Raiders having hunted them down on previous contracts but the Amarrian Mercs clearly had more specifics and noticeably more emotion involved than he initially anticipated in the contract.
The whole team was professional and obviously competent, but that certainly didn't stop each of the from having eccentricities or quirks - including himself. That said, there certainly better shooters, faster reflexes, and more individually lethal mercs around but there were very few that had tactical mind that gathered, analyzed, and created as lightening fast as his. There were few that were willing to reach his calculated level of ruthlessness either. Jaysyn figured it was about to to start making sure that he was integrating and synchronizing his skills with the others...mostly to make sure he didn't end up a Blood Raider party favor for the next few years.
"Kador, looks like you and Steady have worked together before. I think Heathen's got a point, if we get assets isolated we might not be able to effect an extraction. Any idea about how you fellows want to establish tactical parameters?"

Hearing Kador eventually, if reluctantly give his approval had much more reliefed. The decision most likely grounded Kador's world more than refusal would have ever done to Denak. Just as he was secretive of his own past, he would not inquire about Kador's.
He knew that in the end, Kador trusted Steady, a fellow Templar of the same blood more than he ever would an Intaki, even less so one not converted into the Amarrian faith. The mere act of believing in Ida, despite having accompanied Kador through countless missions and listened to him about his Faith, was most likely a very grave sin.
It mattered not though, for if it ever came down to disintegrating Denak as a last resort, he trusted Kador to do it when no one else is able to.
Shaking off Kador's hold of his shoulder, Denak bowed down in front of him almost to the point of kneeling, keeping his arms tucked against his sides to show his own respect for the Templar. He may have not regarded Kador as a brother in return, no one would ever get that close to him, but Kador was definitely a friend, despite not expressing it often.
The lights on Denak's visor flickered as he browsed through the Scriptures on his HUD.
"We are brothers,' Zakara answered, just before breathing his last. 'And in God we shall remain brothers for all of time.", he spoke a passage from the Scriptures in his bowing position, before standing up straight.
He may have misunderstood the passage completely and committed a sin for using it in the wrong contex, it didn't matter. What was even worse was probably the fact that Denak, a heathen, a member of another school of thought, uttered those words as if its religious context held any real meaning for him. The Scriptures themselves may have been meaningless for Denak, but the philosophical context its passages conveyed did matter to him.
That train of thought was soon broken when Heathen approached the trio, despite having made sure they had their privacy. Having him barge in like that with no concern to the intimate nature of the situation was very rude for Denak. Not like Heathen could see the annoyance beneath his helmet anyway.
Upon being given the knife, Denak instantly gripped the handle firmly, tracing his fingers along the weathered blade. It had definitely seen plenty of combat. Through practice, he hunched down a little to assume a combat stance, making a few swishes and stabs into the air to feel how it handled, before going halfway through the act of actually throwing the knife before having second thoughts. Tokens of fortune were rarely treated as regular objects.
Politely Denak stood up normally again, placing the knife back onto Heathen's hand.
"The Blood Raiders will decide my fate, not luck", he explained, he was never the one for wearing tokens of any kind for shallow promises of good fortune. Ultimately, what the Blood Raiders will do have the only real impact to how well his operation was going to succeed.
"I appreciate the gesture though. I have my own knife if it ever comes down to it", he added, pointing to the sheath attached to his lower back, revealing the black handle of his combat knife, engraved with Intaki symbols.
When the call for the dropship leaving in an hour was made, Denak turned to face Kador and Steady again, giving both of them a respectful bow, speaking his parting words:
"Prataya yavati, jaateryam. May your God protect you", afterwards heading off to do the final preparations before boarding the dropship.

The Templar flinched as if stung, as the Intaki man spoke the words of his people.
Though he was sure Denak did not know the deeper implications and interpretation of that phrase, the words wounded Kador, more he though than any weapon could.
The worlds of St Junip spoke of two things every Amarrian soldiers knew well. The value of sacrifice and courage, and the implicit trust between brothers. He remembered, with great sadness as a child learning of how Zakara had sacrificed his life for Garum, throwing himself unarmed at the beast that attacked his brother to buy him time to strike. Of how even in death nothing could come between them, and how Zakara assured his brother that even parted the two would remain bound by the bonds of their love for one another.
Perhaps his own emotions form Denak were not so strong, however the man was a friend. He had many brothers but perhaps only one friend.
"Ave Denak, God protect you." he replied quietly as the Intaki man turned to accept the Heathen's gift, uttering under his breath another prayer to God.
Which brother will I turn out to be?
He was torn between his loyalty to Denak, and duty to return to Satja......
Either way he lost.

The exchange between Denak and Kador was unlike any that he'd witnessed between Mercs and certainly not before what was shaping up to be a pretty tough operation. It was clear there was friendship between the two and for a brief instant he recalled the quiet moments with Juko before he and the big Minmatar would fling their consciousness through the aether into an orbitally delivered CRU.
"Kador, no drama. I just like to check the table before dealing the cards so to speak", he added, his voice more open and with no trace of the mocking tone from a moment earlier.
"Anyway I suspect you're spot on. We'll sort ourselves out once we get a look at the target".

Jacques was deep in thought of his role on the battlefield and the layout of the compound. He was worried about the fact he was deploying with his Boundless Heavy Machinegun, but needed his forge gun. He knew that he could take out LAVs and Dropships if they got close, but HAV was suicide. Then as he thought of a plan he heard Steadies speech and grew excited knowing he could finally test the new suit out. As the Dropship rattled and shook Jacques looked to see if any of the mercs were nervous and only saw battle hardened mercs making final PCC's ( pre combat checks).
Steady was shouting some motivational speech and Jacques just sat in his seat listening to all the mercs yelling and cursing the raiders over the teams channel. He couldn't feel any of the straps or the buckles, all Jacques could feel was armor wrapped around him like being trapped in a steel coffin. As he was praying to the wind of the north for a safe drop he noticed that the first team had deployed. He prepped and looked at steady whom he saluted, then darkness like he was dreaming or worst dead. Jacques grew worried when the hud didn't activate, then the hud flickered and Jacques smacked his helmet out rage. The hud instantly turned on with red indications, " What the f*$% where was this in the intel. I was supposed to be anti armor." Jacques said over the channel.
Jacques had no time to choose his landing so he activated his dampeners hoping the enemy would be surprised. As Jacques hit the ground he felt the ground and something else, something soft, Jacques lifted his head to find he had landed on some poor sap. Jacques then stood up to see a squad was confused and talking on their mics. Jacques took the advantage to rack his hmg and open fire on the platoon yelling to Jaysyn, " LZ is hot I repeat LZ is hot be prepared for a fight Gallentean show me what you can do."

The green jump light rapidly blinked in his HUD and Jaysyn saw Jacques leap from the dropship. His fist slammed into the restraints quick release and he took two quick steps and followed his partner in to the sky. Jaysyn quickly steadied himself and saw that he was coming in dangerously close to the infrastructure walls just north of where Jacques was touching down and fired his inertial dampeners.
The TacNet lit up red all over the ground around the green icon indicating Jacques position and he heard the other mercs sharp warning as he was touching down. With a muffled impact and flash the inertial dampeners flared out and Jaysyns dropsuit shields crackled as they activated and he immediately began to sprint for for the small elevated position just south of his partner.
Need to get some high ground and see what we've gotten ourself into he thought.
He could see Jacques had landed right at the edge of large group of human Raiders...didn't appear to be any Dusters among them but their numbers made them lethal. Jaysyn skidded to a halt near the top of the hill overlooking the small training area they had landed in and pulled an uplink form his belt, activated it and tossed it a few meters behind him in concealed area boulders. Without missing a second his rail rifle locked into place in his right shoulder, targeting data flowing through his HUD and he zeroed in on three Blood Raiders in a small group on the far side of the formation that all had com links up and yelling furiously into them while barking orders at the Raiders in the training ground. Their uniforms were more elaborate and they had look of overseers...anything that could alert other forces, rally defenses, or stave off the chaos of the mercs initial assault had to be quickly dealt with.
The crackle of electricity and hum of capacitors in the Caldari rifle lasted only an instant before the stream of magnetically accelerated kinetic penetrators snapped across the training field and pulped the first two Blood Raider cadre members. The rounds were moving at 2.5Km per second and the wound channels they created in the lightly armored humans was horrendous.
The first burst and dealt with two of the Blood Radier officers and the third had scrambled behind a cargo container trying to find the source of the fire. The Raider gritted his teeth and leaned around the container aiming his slug pistol and the last thing his brain registered was a bluish arc of electricity from on top of the hill then the majority of his skull was vaporized by Jaysysn's hypervelocity rounds.
"Jacques - I've clipped the officers. I'll continue to suppress and clear your flanks", Jaysyn called out of the com link. His voice would never have lead one to believe that he was in the middle of a fire fight, he could have been ordering dinner with the same tone.
Switching his aim he began to snap precise bursts into Blood Raider militia trying to take cover and pour fire on Jacques. To the north of the compound he heard a familiar whine and two Blood Raider Saga LAVs pulled around the corner and began baring down on them.

As Jacques unleashed his first volley of rounds at the Raider squad they began to fire at Jacques wearing down his shields, but they were to late they all began to fall as the DU rounds tore threw their frail bodies. Jacques was smiling under his helmet enjoying every moment until he he saw another squad bounding towards him. He saw a rock formation to his south and moved to it to regain his shields. At this time Jacques noticed blue flashes to the south of him. Jacques heard his partner tell him that two LAVs were inbound. Jacques replies, " Reloading Keep me covered your a f$&^ing good shot. Nice job taking out those officers."
Jacques reloads the massive weapon just as the Lavs pull up. Jacques hides for a split second prepping flux grenades praying he throws them far enough. Jacques peeks over the rocks and notices the two laser turrets firing at Jaysyn, Jacques then proceeds to stand up and throw the three grenades one at a time, pins flying from them as the grenades reach their intended location. Jacques ducks down grabs his Hmg and as the grenades go off he stands up firing the monstrous gun, you could here the chainsaw type sound from kilometers around and feel each burst in your chest. The first Lav receives a good 7 sec burst from the Hmg tearing it to shreds till the rounds hit the core self imploding it.
Jacques then aims at the second noticing the Raider aiming at him Jacques tries to get down, but the Raider fires first setting his suit ablaze in a magnificent display of sparks. Jacques calmly tells Jaysyn, " Hey I'm reloading while my shields recharge cover me. Oh by the way did you see my suit that stung a bit."

When 21 noticed Hawk eye jumping out of the dropship, he knew when he was going to hit the ground his shields were going to drop. 21 then jumped out of the dropship hitting the concrete hard. A small crater formed where he hit. His shields dropped quickly on his caldari suit. Only 218 hp of shields remained online. With only 347 armor hp on the suit he wasn't going to risk the free suit he obtained from concord to help out Hawk-eye. He wanted to have as many as he could when he was done with the operation.
Seeing Hawk-eye already engaging in a fire fight he went to go find cover before the team of blood raiders hawk-eye was fighting saw him. While hiding behind a support wall to the platform that was above him, 21 looked through a small opening in the support wall. He noticed the fire fight was over and walked toward hawk-eye and briefly stated " Nice Aim, maybe next time you will warn me when you jump out of the dropship."
21 then announced over the team's channel " Hawk-eye and I have been deployed successfully, any if one needs back up we can give support."
I wanted to tell a Casey Anthony joke here, but my mom said she would kill me.
