Went into the Event Horizon Lounge (PSN Home) yesterday..to find it barren and the twitter feed no longer even updated. Why? I assumed i'd see social spaces like this throughout Dust but for some reason we still dont have any MMO in this title.
Where are the social spaces in Dust? In true MMO fashion we should have social hubs @ the Amarr Consulate Bureau, Gallente Republic Security Services Testing Facilities and Minmatar Republic Parliament Academy where avatars can leave the MQ and tour their own racial area.
Each should have their own news channel regarding racial news (updates on FW) local chats, in game message boards and options to rent private corp HQs (monthly ISK charge) conference rooms (daily ISK charge) and display recruiting posters (AUR) these would also be the perfect places for the Weapons Lab and Corp Armories. |

things like this would add a better social element to the game. each racial hub could have a lounge, weapons lab and town square/market are. could be the perfect place to show off architechture and see what player market vendors have for sale. whenever that gets here :( |

do both. also allow AUR vanity item upgrades to corp HQs like training areas, the battle recorder we still have yet to see, a corp mainframes where u can view shared fits, a virtual training area and the trophy room we saw in early vids http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvZawAaliSA. what we like about this idea most is that it opens the door for some of the intrigue, spying and corp robbery that are present in EVE.
add a physical corp wallet in addition to the armory [corp safe?] to the HQ and we begin to see more New Eden in Dust. can anyone who physically enters the HQ take money from the corp wallet or assets from the corp armory? does ur mainframe show ur district timers? if an enemy corp gets ur password can they enter your HQ and steal? why not? add in AUR upgrades like corp armory& wallet alerts and the ability to lock down both and we start to see more of the exciting social metagame take shape.

that MCC staging area was epic!! why cant we go into there before battles and preload our vehicles so they are waiting on the ground when we spawn/jump. CCP also needs to fully integrate the 1st social hub THE WARBARGE and turn on prox chat in there, activate the map table and give the mcc commander 3 minutes before each match to present a strategy. |

YES. All of this.
These are the things that can easily take Dust out of its "lobby shooter prison" and add some betrayal and excitement. Some corps might restrict access to members only, some might allow open access to recruit better. Add in the ability to travel to any of the starting areas by AI transport for a small ISK fee. |

I think they may be working on actually getting all of the game done at the moment. However, a social area of some sort makes sense. We literally only see other players on the battlefield during combat . Comparing Dust to EVe in this case doesn 't work as you can at least group together and do things that aren't combat there by undocking ships and flying to the same area of space. The social aspect is a large part of MMOs and it's pretty lacking in Dust.
Even if it's one communal area where anyone can go it would be better than we have now. And they could open it up to capsuleers as well so we can all interact more easily and have a closer Eve/Dust link. Hell, letting you invite people to your MQ/CQ would be better than we have now.

I heard a Dev say that 2013 was all about making DUST a better FPS, and 2014 would be all about making DUST a better MMO. I think we can assume that for CCP the year starts and ends at Fan Fest though.
Keep posting your ideas. Keep pushing. We need to make sure they stick to that line of thinking. The ideas they present at Fan Fest will be what they will be working on for the rest of the year.

EVE doesn't have a "social hub," either. Captains' quarters were released with the intention of adding social hubs later, but the players got pissed and revolted. Everybody wanted CCP to work on gameplay instead. CCP probably won't add social hubs to DUST out of fear of a similar reaction. |

Eve doesn't need a social hub though, it never did, when you can lee up and go flying randomly through space together, chatting as you go. You can't do that in Dust. Voice chat should be for talking about the match and stopping to use thetext chat will just get you killed. As I find out every time my finger hits the T key instead of R to reload. (I'v decidd I need a beter keyboard for my PS3.)

Funny thing is, before we got it, I would regularly see calls for walking in stations when I was playing EVE. Along comes Incarna, we get a lot of hate about the locked door and suddenly no -one would admit to wanting walking in stations .
I think that Dust is the perfect place to work on it. They could flesh out the station interiors, give us social spaces and new battlegrounds and types all at once. Then finally unlock the doors for the capsuleers.

I tried this a year ago or so. People kept bitching about hit detection and other problems that I never really saw. Apparently this was also the case in EvE online. They have the technology. They simply don't want to release it to us. For both worlds. But yeah let's keep pushing the effect that we awant these things. I want to travel via EvE pilot to a faroff part of the galaxy to get a stack of rifles that I can't purchase anywhere else. Then pay for transport back to my MCC. I still want to fight through nullsec hot/casino stations. I want to be able to meet up with EvE pilots in stations to be able to get help with orbitals, transport, make alliances, get advice and many more things. A corp training room???? I didn't even kow tis was ever introduced as an idea! This sounds awesome! Why are you people so intent on knifing eachother in the back?? Friggin weird

From my conversations with the Dev's at the last Fanfest, all these social expansions where going to be iterated over the following year.
Sadly, Uprising was a disaster and fixing its myriad problems was the priority. I'm hoping that more involvement with Home will come this year.

CCP always used the excuse of different teams working on different stuff so by that excuse we should see a social hub unless no team worked on it, but what did the teams work on then? and how many teams are there?
We'll never know the answers other than that it will be just another excuse.
