Just wondering if it is any news on a PC release date, since my PS3 broke and decided to get a new PC instead.

From a marketing/money aspect, it would be huge for CCP. If it was on the PC and PS3, every EVE player would at least try it. Many would play it here and there and much of those people would monetize the game. It would be good for business. |

No news on that yet. I hope so. If they want to really expand this game they'll have to get off the PS3. PC would be the best choice. They'd even be able to run test servers.

PS4 porting in one year or so might also be a good choice. Releasing the game on PC would hopelessly fragment the community and probably drive out most of the console players we have now.
And anyone that says that's good needs to eat a massive ****.
People need to get their heads out of this "PC vs Console" bullshit and just play games. It's pretty much a certainty that Dust will move on to the PS4, but I hope against hope that it NEVER moves to PC.

Either PS4 or PC. I don't care. Just give us feature parity with games like Crysis 3. I'm talking about stuff like fluid movement.
Hell, the PS3 version could be the low-scale version, while PS4 and PC get expanded scope. And I really hope that the next version of the game will support Oculus Rift. And, if it's on PC, I want Joystick support for fighters and dropships and steering wheels for LAVs. |

I think we'll see the PS4 port before a PC port. I also think the PC port would cannabalise the console market which was one of the big ideas...giving people on different platforms avenues into New Eden.

What we'd end up with would be tens of thousands of peeps giving DUST poor reviews and a huge hurdle to overcome to win them back. We're in a fairly tight spot as it is.
Re: Moving to PC. Another deathwish, imo. In DUST we're going to be playing for big stakes and working for and spending other player's money. The botting and hacks that come with PC would prolly destroy any credibility the nullsec strategic geopolitical warfare had.
Why?
Because who is going to stage logistics, coordinate dirt & space side forces, arrange 24-hour rosters and commit resources that originated in the labour of corp/alliance mates and might represent hundreds or thousands of hours collectively.....when the outcome of big fights is decided by who has the best bots?

PS4 doesn't change a bad user experience into a good one. Dust is F2P and the core features are definitely better than a CoD. Sure, it's not as good as good shooters - But how many people actually play good shooters? The advantage for DUST is that it's not a seasonal game. There aren't yearly iterations. And it doesn't even cost anything to start with. CCP just has to make clear that Aurum is not pay to win but pay to test gear and save some time.

The question here is: How is hacking in EVE? I also wonder about hacking on PC, but this is not CCP's first online game. It's not like Crysis 3, where the first cheaters appeared two days into the beta because Crytek sucks at cheat prevention. But yeah, that's a big advantage of the console ecosystem.
Random thought of the day: A "Mechanic" game for Linux systems. Another EVE game, but it focuses purely on tinkering with hardware to an insanely fine-tuned degree, selling it and watching how other players use it to fight. Could double as balance laboratory for CCP. |

It's surprising that it even manages 30FPS. There's nothing crappy about that. I can guarantee you that your PC from 2005 would not be able to even get 10FPS on this game.
That's why PS4 would be so useful. |

Not point to even try to explain why... just read this forums..... What is this "PC world" you are speaking of? You mean the "PC master race" faglords in their own little niche of the internet? Or do you mean the actual PC players who actually play video games instead of jerking of over their hardware of choice?
All my competitive experiences, as well as 99% of my total online playtime (Dust is in fact the only exception) have been on PC. I played RTS competitively, took part in modding efforts, participated in alphas and betas, beat various kinds of DRM schemes, own an expensive Logitech mouse and saw entire genres rise and fall. Am I part of the "PC world" according to your definition? Do you even have a point to make or did you just feel the urge to post?
The only thing that I know is different about the PC community, is the fact that those players aren't incredibly antagonistic when it comes to text chat. The aversion to the idea of even making text chat viable in this game, is an incredibly strange quirk. I really wonder if it's the same for other console FPS communities. |

You'll doom the game is you move it to PC. The team of developers is already incredibly small and you'll be splitting that.
The game should have never came out on PS3, the developers have no idea how to develop a console shooter. At least on PC there is a lot of Eve players who would at least give it a try. And the PC shooter crowd is a lot more forgiving, they might be willing to wait for the game to evolve. PS3 users can't wait that long because the system is getting more outdated every day. |

The question do they gain more than they loose?
I don't have the awnser to it and it's a risk CCP has to take into consideration.
As a ps3 user I can only say if they put this game on PC then I am gone

What risk ? Dust 514 is hardly hitting 3,000 players in peak time ...even terrible MMO's in the PC get double that amount. |

Yes, this community is ********. But if you want to see really bad online communities, you have to look at MOBA, which are PC games. I wouldn't touch those with a ten foot pole. Probably related to the incredibly low skill ceiling of those games. |

Not arguing with you bro just saying that if the go PC they will loose most ps3 players, if that loos is covered buy the new paying PC players that it may bring into the game is a risk CCP has to take into consideration.

There's no reason why Dust can't exist on multiple platforms. Once it moves to PS4 it'll be trivial to create a PC client, since they have the same architecture. Porting it wouldn't solve any of our current problems though. We have some network issues causing problems with hit detection / aiming and gameplay / balance issues. All of these can and need to be fixed on the PS3 before anything else happens.
As frustrating as Dust can be I still enjoy it, but as they say, you can't shine a turd. Making Dust prettier by porting it to a more powerful platform won't fix the issues we have now. It'll have to happen eventually, it just isn't the most pressing matter. |

On the fps home grounds. It won't be able to compete, but it's no longer even considered a FPS on consoles anymore, so no big loss.
