Having lost my marbles and become completely addicted to DUST - I now demand an official movie! Not only would it be an intense bit of action, it would also help promote the game to a new audience which would be ace..
I humbly offer my services to direct - here's an example of my work, shot in an FPSish kind of way.. (this is a horror film btw so don't click it if you get scared of stuff)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpXFrDQA4s4
But in all seriousness - maybe get an immense Hong Kong or Korean action-meister to make it ultra-slick and super space age violent-y...
And for my part I want to see Sniper's getting slapped down and hear them begging for mercy before getting shot in the face...

Cool, he's got the CV for it so this guy is a good choice. I guess this is EVE based rather than DUST 514... I'd like to see DUST as a stand alone movie - all action with just a hint of the EVE story for mystery...

Well... that's the thing. Dust can't be a movie by then.
By the time Dust becomes a full-blown AAA shooter that we expected, many events that are the result of emergent gameplay will have occurred. Eve Online is a perfect example.
During the past 11 years alone, Eve Online has seen countless player actions that have created a series of events unfold in a very unscripted manner such as, but not limited to:
The assault by Mo0. The rise and fall of Band of Brothers (BoB). The rise of Goonswarm. The Great War. Hulkageddon I, II, III, IV, and V. The 2011 Jita Riots (famously known as Monoclegate) which later earned its proper monument. The 3-day Goon-led assault on Jita in April of 2012 following the Gallente Ice Interdiction in the month prior. The famous battle of Asakai which occurred on late January 2013. The second burning of Jita. The Fall of Against All Authorities. The start of the Halloween War later on 2013. The battle of the HED-GP system in January 2014. The now record-shattering battle of the B-R5RB system that even earned its own monument as of January 2014.
And that's just off the top of my head. All of these are the result of player actions that have created the greatest sci-fi narrative in the MMO industry. A story that is as vast as the scriptures of the Holy Bible, Nag Hammadi Library, Torah, and Quran combined. About as in-depth as the Tom Clancy books. Filled with controversies and political intrigue that can make the CIA and KGB jealous. And economically interesting enough to become the subject of college economics classes in the real world.
If for the next 11 years Dust 514 is going down the same path as Eve Online did in the past 11 years, and I'm confident it will, then that means that making a "movie" based on Dust will only limit the scope of what Dust is truly about.
A TV series will do a much better job at expressing everything about New Eden. Unless of course you're into spending 3-hours at a time watching 6-9 films of Dust.

Okay I hear you. Great point and well made. This is something other than all out action. DUST has already built an incredible narrative and in that respect it doesn't need a movie at all.
But I would like something to give the players a quick thrill and everyone else an easy in-point for the game. Think of it like an advert for the MMOFPS experience of DUST... just a hint of the story in order to show you the action - and then you go online, create a merc - and join the real story...

A tough guy named Vlad(Vladimir) from the Khanid kingdom going through hell to get what he deserves when he's betrayed by a client.
Background: Story takes place as a flashback in a small gallente room with two heavily armed guards one with a Laser Cannon and the other with a combat rifle standing next to the exit. Vlad doesn't suppect a thing as its usual for this precaution to be taken. When suddenly he gets this gut filling that strikes him like a bad brake up. The lights go from a dim green glow to a crimson red with the sound of alarms that can pierce the faint of heart in a instance. Relying on past experiences Vlad pulls out his Silver plated, ruby sight Wolf Man, the guards could only scream as their brains turned to mush. Vlad then rushes out the door to find a group of men in black suits and red eyes that he's only seen on pure blood thirsty animals....
How's that for the start of the movie.

We almost running of time! before CCP show us PvE with drones. ..... so... take script from Starship troopers 1997 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120201/?ref_=fn_al_tt_4
Replace 'ant' with drones and spaceship from EVE. And we done....
Now put this move to theatres and after this, relase great update to DUST 514 with PvE. That will be awsome!!! |

When I play as a sniper, I'm more likely to be nearer to the opponents redline than my own.

Doom. Dust matches have less story behind them than even the original doom. Which is fine in a game, not so much in a film.
I hear you.. but I'm in the minority that actually liked that movie! The more films of games the better I reckon. But I totally take the point..

Not only would it be an intense bit of action, it would also help promote the game to a new audience which would be ace.. I humbly offer my services to direct - here's an example of my work, shot in an FPSish kind of way.. (this is a horror film btw so don't click it if you get scared of stuff) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpXFrDQA4s4But in all seriousness - maybe get an immense Hong Kong or Korean action-meister to make it ultra-slick and super space age violent-y... And for my part I want to see Sniper's getting slapped down and hear them begging for mercy before getting shot in the face...
360 scans... The animation needs to be just right, and district locking. Extra points if the guy locking the district is Japanese. |
