I've always disliked that you had to choose a side to beat the game. Im not fond of either one, but I choose depending on the background or race of the character. I usually end up with the Empire.

My favorite ES character ever started out as a kind of joke oddly enough. Female Orc. Strange, I know.
I was messing around in the CC trying to make an Orc look "pretty" because I was bored. After about 3 hours of messing with sliders, I (miraculously) succeeded. She wasn't as pretty as the other races, but passable, besides the fact that she was bald.
Then I decided I would give the character a try considering all the time I spent on it. Came up with a simple backstory that was inspired from one of the Orcs in one of the strongholds and Sapphire in Riften. Basically, she ran away from her stronghold because she didn't want to be married off, was captured by bandits, raped, and became somewhat dark/evil/sadistic because of it. By this point in time, I was getting somewhat invested in the character.
I decided to finally role a Stealth Character as well, which is an odd class to pair with an Orc, but whatever. I made her ultra specialized in One-handed, Sneak, and Illusion, with small emphasises on Archery and Conjuration. I made a point to get Muffle/Invisibility and the Assassin's Blade perk ASAP. I completed the Dark Brotherhood Story by level 12, so I had the Blade of Woe (Best 'sneaky' dagger in the game) early on. By this point I was slitting throats left and right.
After about 35 levels, and two DLCs, I had finally gotten the Invisibility spell. This was a gamechanger. Keep in mind that I was 1-shotting Draugr Deathlords/Dragon Priests by this point, so Invisibility made me insanely OP (to the point that I had to turn on Expert Difficulty for it to be a challenge at all). I found the Shrouded Robes that you can get in the entrance of the Falkreath Sanctuary are the best clothes for this class. The Hood isn't ideal, but the set actually looks really good. And as some people know, appearances are important for a RP Character. Gloves with the back stab enchantment are a must for this class.
This class type has a strong emphasis on Magicka, because casting Invisibilty/Muffle isn't cheap, and you will find yourself doing it A LOT. As a general rule, spend 3 levels on Magicka, then 1 level on Stamina so you can perform Sneak rolls better. None on Health, as your low armor levels will end up with you being 1-shot by practically everything in he game later on anyway. This build is focused on ghosting the entire game. It can be really fun too, knowing that you WILL die if the enemy sees you really makes some dungeons very tense. I highly suggest becoming a Vampire Lord for a class like this, it complements the play style very well.
By the end of the game, you can OHK Elder Dragons. Its insane.

Your choice. The good ol' "they're *****" argument. The Stormcloaks are bigoted, but they aren't that bad. They are more similar to Al Qeada than *****.
