What is Vote Match Vote Match is the trusted website run by Dierdra Vaal since the CSM4 election which matches up users to CSM candidates that most closely match their opinions and views on Eve after filling in a questionnaire about the game. This year he will be extending his site to cover the Dust 514 CPM elections.
However, we need your help in compiling a list of questions. The format we are using works best with multiple choice. Each candidate can only choose one answer per question, which forces them to have an opinion.
For more details on how the site works, please visit: http://match.eve-csm.com/faq.php#about
(sadly the questions have been wiped from last year, so you cannot try it out yourself).
Example question and suggested answers:
Q: What is your position on skill respecs?
* Never * Only one final time once all racial suits have been added to the game * Able to purchase respecs for AUR, but pre-nerfed (limited use, lose SP, high cost, etc) * Able to purchase respecs for AUR, no limits * Able to purchase for isk, no limits

I think this would be a good task for the community to develop. This means that candidates have to answer questions that the community finds important.

I am thrilled to hear this service will be extended to cover the CPM this year. It has often played a part in my CSM voting decisions, and I've found it an enlightening tool.
There are already several questions that forum users have gone and asked every candidate in their respective threads. You may wish to cull those questions and see how easily they can be multiple-choice'd for use in the votematch, as many of those questions are quite excellent.
I'd like to be your CPM1 candidate

Could you give a few examples of the actual questions to be asked? We're using a multiple-choice format for the answers.

Importance of corp battles, EVE/DUST connection, frame rate, weapon balance, new player experience.
Many of these could be put into a Very Important, Somewhat Important, Not Really Important, Not At All Important sort of context. As one of the largest disparities will probably come from prioritization, rather than actually disagreeing on what needs to be done. I think most of us all know what needs to be done, but there's a lot of variation in which we feel will have the most impact in the short term.

Oddly enough, I was considering contacting Dierdra Vaal to see if votematch was making its way to the CPM election.
I think its a great idea and I'm sure that Votematch in Eve has increased awareness of the CSM election process since its inception. Plus it has an established reputation already in the community so I'm sure the closet Dust players in Eve Online (I know a couple of you keep it from your Eve fiends ) will be more than willing to take part.
I know a couple of questions I'd want answering if I weren't standing are the popular ones but a few more might not be.
How important is the New Player Experience?
How important is having Corporation CEO's free from the need of using the Eve Client to run their corps?
How important is the need for PvE?
Which method would you prefer for keeping newer players away from the veteran ones? War Point Total Skill Point Total Limiting High Meta Level gear in Public matches A tiered league system Nothing at all
From Most to least, which would be your preferred method of assessing the quality of a player? War Points Skill points ISK Efficiency KDR Corp Employment History Reputation Medals
Given the choice between having the Eve/Dust link fully in place by Fanfest 2015 or having the game working on any of the next gen formats in the same time frame, which would you choose?
In order of importance what the best thing CCP could do to increase player numbers? Advertise Next Gen format Dust players attacking Eve players corporate assets Overhaul the NPE Firing back at Eve players Player Market
Would you be in favour a subscription model for Dust? Yes or No
Those are just the one I can think of the top my head at this time of night. I'll add more as I think of them.

There is no official signup to be a candidate yet. CCP has not announced it as of current. However, many of those who intend to run have threads here in The Council's Chamber.

All CPM candiates will be given an opportunity to submit their answers to the Votematch questionnaire at some point after the official list of candidates is available from CCP.

I think we should add introduction of PVE to that list. I think that wold make a significant impact on the player count.

You mentioned Medles. I made a graduation Medle but it turns out we can't give Medles to DUST players. It is the little things that sometimes make me sad.
Edit: Also, I had a bunch of high priority projects dumped on me in real life, so I donGÇÖt have as much time to be constructive today. I may contribute something later in the week.

There is one crucial factor missing from assessing quality
- Ability to work within the team environment
In a RL business setting, your resume only gets you in the door. Its how they view your ability to fit within the team and prove that your stats reflect your abilities that gets you the job.

Although you probably mainly assess those aspects through forum and IRC activity.. you can ask still questions about attitude, priorities and approach with the answers being mutually exclusive. I intend to include some.
In the end though, you probably don't only want someone who is merely very effective if they disagree with you on almost every point. You're more likely to want to shortlist those who agree with you the most, and choose between attitudes and aptitudes at that point.

I just feel that its not any one thing that you evaluate the quality of a player with. It also depends on the role they play when they are part of the team. As many are aware, stats can be manipulated through various means in the game. I just want to make sure that the options available are in line with actual decision making processes.

It's a tool to assist with helping you quickly discern between candidates. It's not a panacea and hasn't been presented as such. It's obvious certain aspects won't be easily assessed via a questionnaire.
And sorry if this appears rude, but let me be direct: given it's so obvious, I don't really see what your point is.

It doesnt appear rude at all and I openly encourage strong debate over an issue.
My point is, that if a question cannot be answered adequately via multiple choice then it should be excluded. If I am being matched based upon my viewpoint then I would like it to be accurately represented.
Im not trying to make this harder than it is but I also realize that many will be casting their vote based on a simple procedure. I would like it to represent a candidates views as accurately as possible.
I think that this can be solved by creating a process for question creation.
My thoughts on the matter...
The community is in charge of proposing the questions as it is about topics that are important to them.
Candidates are then given the option for proposing possible answers.
This process is about voters deciding which candidates mesh with their views. Rather than trying to shoehorn both voters and candidates into a particular answer, I feel that one side should create the answers and the other side choose which best represents them.
Does that make sense?

Okay, I understand now.
Questions (and their answers) will certainly have to attain a minimum quality to be included. All questions and answers will be available for review and I compile and edit them.
An additional aspect to consider is that with the OKC-style algorithm (look at the FAQ), both the candidate and the voter get to choose how important each question is to them. This emphasises differences (and matches) for mutually important questions and vice versa.
The voter can also choose to not use all questions, meaning that matching will only occur on the questions answered. The effect here is to allow the voter to completely disregard any question for any reason they like.
The means that with regards to questions/answer quality there doesn't need to be 100% agreement on inclusion.
However, we are getting a little off-track and ahead of ourselves. I'd rather focus on generating content for the questionnaire than debate theoretical quality of currently non-existent questions :).

Fair enough. Maybe we should start work on gaining topics/questions from the masses? This may be a somewhat time intensive process to acquire, compile and review.
