so I think my ds3 is shot, i've had it for as long as I've owned the system(a long time).

what's happening is that occasionally when I try to sprint (click in L3) the map opens and when I ads the vehicle call menu opens or I crouch. I was also having some issues in crysis 2 which make me think it isn't a game glitch or a lag issue. has anyone else had incorrect input from an aging controller? has anyone else had this problem in dust?

does the DS4 work with dust?

Yes, I have had basically the same problem. I also thought it might be my aging DS3 controller, but could it be a bug? The same thing happens; when I click L3 to run, I get the map.

 Very frustrating.

I've run into the issue of being engaged in a firefight (always, ALWAYS in a firefight!!!) where I'll suddenly have the call-up screen activate. Undoubtedly, before I can exit out of the screen (no, I don't want to call in a tank right now!) I'll be gunned down. Using a DS3 that's two years old at most. Maybe there's something interfering with the wireless signal?

The issue is with the controller. remove all the screws from the back, and unplug the battery. Let it sit for about 10-15 mins than put it back together.

I've had the same problem in the past, and the cause is that there is a ribbon cable that sits loose in the controller, held to the board with just some soft padding.

Take off the back, the cable (looks like a thin strip of plastic with contacts) should be near one of the shoulder buttons.

Carefully lift the padding under it, and shove a little rolled up electrical tape under there to make the padding apply greater pressure to the cable.

Might've forgotten a couple bits but it is doable with nothing more than a small phillips screwdriver and a piece of tape. Try not to lose the shoulder buttons when you disassemble.

I forgot about this. This keeps the issue fixed. Just go to youtube and look up how to fix a ps3 controller, and find a video that pertains to this. issue.
