On a serious note, after keeping an open mind about it for a while, I think the best way to handle tank spam in the immediate future (as in a pre 1.8 hotfix patch) would be to decrease the team vehicle quota. Currently, the limit on vehicles per team is 8. If your team has 8 LAVs out, that's it. At least until one gets blown up or recalled. Considering our team sizes are fixed at 16v16 (no larger, no smaller) our team vehicle quota should be lowered to around 4 to 6.
This is the quickest, most effective way to fix tank spam in the immediate future, without worrying about balancing stats or something like the making the vehicle quota a point pool and having HAVs count more than LAVs.
