DUST 514 already has a little bit of segregation for the playerbase. A casual noob can't go waltzing into a Planetary Conquest match... and that's where it ends.
Now, I just hit a milestone in lifetime WP, and realized that it didn't reflect my SP. After reaching the cap for bonus SP, the most you can obtain for SP is 1000/match(1500/2000 w/ Boosters). That simply makes zero sense. If I earned 2000WP that translate into SP, than I want what I earned. This is why after caps are reached, weekly dropoff steepens, and why Tuesday is the deadest day of the week for DUST. If a Player puts there time into something, they should be rewarded.
Now, many could argue that this keeps players from running wild in gaining SP. That could be correct, but once again, it is earned. You can't AFK WP. A lot of my SP has come from after cap play. Usually 100,000SP/wk is after cap, however, it can easily be said that I've earned 300,000+ WP during that time. I am being cheated out what I've worked for. Reward me what I have earned, if that allows me or some other guy to rack up a large amount of SP, then so be it. It was earned.
This is where segregation comes in. Yes, allow me to rack up SP that I've earned, make my character into a superhero. Reward me. But don't let me use my powers on new players that for whatever reason don't have my level of time and effort put into the game. Players in public contract matches need to be segregated by WP. As warpoints are the most accurate representation of someone's playtime, skill level, and meta level. You can't separate by gear, because core skills and proficiency skills would still trump new players greatly. You can't separate by SP, because it is passively gained. A player could in theory have never played a match in his life and be bumped up to advanced levels, because he let his SP build.
Warpoints show the player's in game progress.

The post-bonus SP cap never has and never will make any sense to me. Hell, the regular cap doesn't either, really, aside from the desire to sell boosters, but it's liveable. |

No, SP rollover would cause more upheaval. Imagine not playing for 2-3 weeks and seeing a giant amount of SP that you'll never get through.
New players don't have a chance, and they aren't sticking around the game longer than 48 hours. They are 10,000,000s of SP behind, and they are getting beat into the ground. This game is impossible for new players, and that's why they are leaving. They need full-blown protection.
Go ahead and make an alt. And try playing solo as a new player would. You wouldn't last longer than 100,000WP because nobody has the insanity to put up with that.

Nope, but I take week long (and two week long) vacations every year....and so do all of my American co-workers.
Do you think I'm lazy for doing so?
Laughable....just like your saying the Chinese are lazy b/c of their culture to take a week off to celebrate new years.
Have you ever been there?
The Chinese are lots of things. Lazy is not among them.
And by the way, Americans are nowhere near the highest in per captia working hours.

Tanks are already God-mode as it is.
Take away the 1000 SP cap, and you'd damn well better take away the 100 WP for blowing up installations.
And if you hate "slayer logis" now? Imagine how insane they'd be without the SP cap. |

I'm taking 2 weeks of right now just for ***** and giggles. But then again I'm an independent businessman in several different ventures so I can effectively do w/e the **** I want.
Isn't CCP a small(-ish) independent gaming company? Isn't that why we love they have the freedom to be creative and pull game ideas out of their ass and make them work over time like EvE and DUST 514?
Your calling other countries lazy but America works hard BECAUSE WE WANT TO! As a country we also emphasis the fact that if people don't like you, they can htfu and deal with it. Unless of course they have something we want in which case we stuff as much BS as we can into whatever we need in order to get it (everything from war, marketing, and relationships in a nutshell). Pretty sure Capitalism is all about individual rights. No ones keeping any of us here. And we can leave at anytime. CCP will do what it wants to do in order to meet the goals of which content only they know.
If one of my clients (outside of a business transaction) called me up right now and told me to get off my ass I'd laugh in their face. On the flip side, if someone has paid me for say a poem or program (to name a few things I commission) I also make sure to deliver what I said I would under that agreement. The only thing we buy are Boosters and Gear which work exactly as stated. Outside of that they don't owe us **** lol

This argument is just so old. The "we care about the new players" seem to be rather cheap when if the community cares, then the community should stop entering pub matches with their ADV and PRO fits. Jump in the match with your basic MLT fits. How come that isn't being talked about? No, "its CCP stop me from murdering the new folks."
On the other side of the coin, if I didn't get my ass handed to me when I first arrived to NE, it wouldn't have made me the same merc I am today. I advocate this strongly here. It's tough but if they stick with it, they will become tougher.
Lastly, there's only one game I noticed that did the segregation thing and that was Crysis MP. Every other FPS title I've played, I've been thrown in with guys who are on their 3rd or 4th prestige or who has been playing BF for quite some time. This "rolling on the NP" just doesn't happen solely in Dust, but yea, we are not talking about that.

I did, just sayin. You can't limit by Warpoints alone, otherwise you end up with people who play non-combat roles against proto squads. You need a whole new metric that accounts for KDR, WLR, WPM TWP and give a skill based matchamking on that, anything else will go horribly wrong.

I don't use proto in pubs, because of my stance against proto-stomping new players. Its wrong and it's the sole factor that will kill the game.
The amount of protos in the game back when we started to now is insanely steeper. We skilled up parallel with everyone else, not players are thrown into an impossible situation.
In other games, you can level up and unlock everything in 1-2 days. in DUST its a different story. And there is not going to be a DUST 514 II for everyone to start fresh again on, like other titles. The rich and mighty will just continue to grow and the poor and weak will die away. This game already has a playerbase of a revolving door, eventually it will be just the 400 so vets on it, and at that point that game will be buried 6ft under
This issue needs to be top priority, as the game's life depends on it.

It is essential that nolifers can't achieve massive SP advantages over ordinary people. That's what the cap's there for. How long do you think the game will last if it's only made for people with no job or family?
2. The playerbase isn't large enough to be split by SP. Already on the EU server (supposedly one of the busy ones) plenty of matches launch with 0-2 players on one side. |

I actually support having some sort of cap for SP in Dust, otherwise people that are just casual players and maybe want to skip a week or two can't. It takes roughly 10 hours or so for one to be able to do the entire SP, now I would love roll over SP in case you don't want to play a week, but an unlimited I would hate and probably leave the game. Mainly because of how other games do it and the people who play more on a game then do actual work and living a life are damn near untouchable in the games. PC is a different issue all together and has tons of other problems so not going to address that right now. |

From what I understand the skill cap is not meant to be a permanent solution. Though it hardly makes any sense to have at this point because poto and tank spam galore in most matches, further player ability is far more important than skills after a certain point. |

I have 37million SP. Nothing you could do would allow you to catch me in this current SP system. I can take a break and still have more sp than most of you. If everyone could gain SP according to how much time they want to put in maybe some ofe the new guys could get gud sooner. I realize its all about booster sales. CCP wants us to crush new guys so they buy boosters to catch up. They never tell you that you cant and never will.

What's the point of the cap anymore anyways. I can understand limiting people so that they can't just power game to the top, but at this point in the game, what is the point?
Everyone has proto more or less, the divide between new players and vets is HUGE, most people already have an assload of SP. I don't see a point in keeping it around like this.
