Well to begin, I'll start with the obvious:
80GJ Blasters
These turrets are the go-to choice when fighting infantry. With an automatic fire mechanic, you can easily wipe crowds of infantry away if they are unprepared. Best fitted on armored vehicles (Madrugars & Somas)
However, these weapons are lack-luster against enemy vehicles. They are incapable of dealing a higher DPS than Missiles and 80GJ Railguns. When faced against an enemy tank, it's best to run away unless it also has a blaster or you absolutly know your going to win.
Best fitted on armored HAVs (Madrugars & Somas).
80GJ Railguns
This turret is the go-to choice when fighting enemy vehicles. It's high alpha capabilities can easily demolish a tank if they are caught without their hardeners on. However, always make sure that you have a damage mod fitted to your vehicle, as a hardened armored HAV will easily put a tail between your legs.
The compromise is that it has no practical use against normal infantry. Between it's slow strafing speed and low splash damage, you'd be hard-pressed to pull off impressive scores against infantry.
Best fitted on shielded HAVs (Gunnlogies & Sicas).
Large Missile Turrets
Being the odd one of the bunch, this turret is only proficient against armored HAVs (Madrugars & Somas). It's an explosive weapon with high alpha capabilities, but it's alpha can easily be negated by a shield hardener.
Because of this, you'll have to choose your engagements carefully. It has a long reload time that spells instant death if you don't manage to deal a critical amount of damage to the enemy.
Best fitted on shielded HAVs (Gunnlogies & Sicas).
My advice to you would be to skill into 80GJ Railguns first.
A STD blaster can still deal with infantry quite well, and even an Ion Cannon isn't gonna save you when somebody with a Railgun knows what they are doing.
Missile Turrets aren't worth their high SP requirements when 80GJ Railguns can deal with armored HAVs quite well, and Particle Cannons will erase any tank spam your facing.
TL;DR: Railguns are good against tanks, Blasters are good against infantry, and Missiles are good against Madrugars & Somas.

i disagree blasters work great against enemy tanks you just need to get the timing down of when to attack when to retreat and how to flank your enemy blasters can and will **** a shield rail up the ass if you can dodge a few of their shots i use blaster maddies in PC it works great you just can't sit there and hold down the trigger the way rails do

message from Godin: Correction: standard missiles aren't very good against the Caldari HAV's, but if you use a adv. or PROTO missile, especially with a damage mod, they rip through them like butter. Rest is right. |

If you know what your doing, yes Blasters can work well against enemy tanks.
But this guy does not know what he's doing. Give him a Blaster against a Railgun or Missile Turret and he'd get rinsed.

Oh, well I've only used the STD LP ones. I guess I'll make a correction. Missiles Shred armor tanks get behind one w/ a damage mod and wreck dual hardeners pretty bad vs. Shields but not awful they just get out ranged therefore out classed by rails but CQC missiles>rails vs. armor and some shield tanks.
