Several times-like many others- I've died in the inferno of railguns and blaster explosions. It didn't make me bitter, but somehow got my fascinated with the way of controlling the battlefield with these armored beasts.
I'd like to invest some SP into my vehicle skills but have almost no experience with tank operations and setups. I saved some money and SP and seriously want to get into tanking now.
Would someone of you dedicated/proficient tankers in the forums please help me to get a grip on the matter and tell me what to skill into to make myself a viable Anti-tank/anti infantry tank fit? (Not talking 'bout the militia tanks or fits)
Furthermore, is there any compendium or tank-thread in the forums you can recommend to a tank-beginner?
Thanks in advance, long days and pleasant nights,
Scar

OK loading the Wall of BAD,s Fittings for tanks
...... .... ... .. . loaded..... .... ok 1st thing about me is i L0v3 TD aka tank destroyer the fits i uses are based on the players SP and real life skill at using the tanks in game.
some skills you will need tho are Vehicle Command lv 5 and HAV operation lv 1
Vehicle upgrades lv 5 Vehicle core upgrades lv 5 Vehicle armor upgrades lv 3 Vehicle armor repair systems lv 3 or 5
Vehicle shield upgrades lv 3 Vehicle shield regeneration lv 3 or 5
Vehicle turret upgrades lv 1 Damage Amplifier optimization 4 or 5
Large turret operation lv 5 then pick what ever gun you want and LV 5 everything but ammo ! that skill is useless !
tank fits like i said i use TD,s here so your looking at supporting other tanks if not you team vi keeping the other teams tanks dead be for they can do what ever it is they are there for !
King Madrugar 1 80GJ Particle cannon 2 basic railgun damage amplifers 1 basic armor hardener 1 Complex CPU upgrade unit 1 basic heavy armor repairer
i would go on but im sleepy ..... hope it helps

Pick armor for high KDR Pick shields for being valuable to your corp in PC
Only invest in skills that do NOT affect fitting ability (proficiency skills, etc) You want to be able to USE every complex module and prototype turret that you choose. Damage mods (complex) are a must. Using scanners and nitros will do more for armor tanks than shield tanks because they are HS modules, but some pilots (like myself) make good use of NOS on their shield tanks.
Do not waste your SP to duel tank- a gunlogi with a light repper and 120 plate, even militia, will be fine- shield modules on armor tanks are simply never run because a nitros, scanner, or dmod will be much better.
Having extra ammo is something only shield tanks can do- most times, a complex module is a waste of isk (ammo exp). Having an ammo expansion is more important for a blaster tank than a rail or missile tank, but a gunlogi shouldn't run a blaster, simply bc they are infantry stomping tanks, and being able to fit a scanner is something that only armor tanks should do.
As for turrets, only run PRO if your focus is killing tanks- a STD turret will destroy infantry just as well (nearly) as a PRO turret, but vs tanks, its a huge difference.

it all depends on what you want to do with your tank and your play style
for rails a good set up is gunny 1 particule cannon 1 damage amp 2 hardeners 1 armor hardener 1 rep
Pros good alpha damage good range high resistances good tracking on the gunny
Cons low endurance once hardeners go down run low top speed very dependent on cooldowns
for blaster Maddie 1 ion 1 nitro 1 damage amp 1 hardener 2 reps
Pros high speed high reps can rep to full in a few seconds high endurance from long hardeners and reps
Cons turns as fast as a drunken whale weak to alpha needs high situational awareness needs good driving skills
for missiles gunny 1 xt launcher 1 damage amp 2 hardeners 1 armor hardener 1 rep
Pros similar to rails high alpha no heat good resistances
Cons long reload needs to hit first and hard high situational awareness low endurance without resistances
i use each of this tanks in a wide varity of situations even in PC between tank vs tank all the turrets are actual somewhat balanced rails are good for holding back enemy tanks and controling the field missiles are the shotgun of the tank world for rapid ganks blaster are for long endurance drawn out tank fights or for engaging multiple tanks at once
I AM THE KING OF THE BLASTER!!!

i run a few fits that are all situational all madrugar fits for me 2 hardener nitro scan blaster 1 rep (high res low recovery) 1 hardener 2 reppers nitro scan blaster(average res high recovery) 2 reppers 1 plate scan nitro blaster (infantry lols slayer high recovery high hp no res) dmg mod nitro hardener cpu upgrade repper blaster (dueling tank) i know early on you can aslo run 1 hardener 1 heavy reppers 1 mini blaster 1 large scane nitro as well.
im only 3 mill sp in so thats all i have
also note it takes enhanced nitro at least to scale certain areas

syas you need a ammo expansion unit for blasters. at full skills it has 1000+ ammo. takes the enitre match to use all of it. |
